Local Blogging Coverage

In yesterdays Seattle Times, James J. Na talks about some of the local Seattle area blogs, as well as the big national ones.

Sadly, RNS didnt get a mention, but that mostly stems from us being a nationwide blog (Seattle – Me, Baton Rouge The Nukevet, Middle Ohio the still around but mysterious Puggs) and that Im one of those subversive anonybloggers.

You should read the article and see who you recognize and maybe check out some of the other blogs mentioned within. There are no links, apparently the dead tree media havent quite figured that part out yet.

Mr. Na has one very funny line that I thoroughly enjoyed,

Q: What is the difference between conservative and liberal nerds?”

A: “Conservative nerds have guns

Its funny because its true!

From the Gunny’s Holy Book

Book 19, chapter 11, verse 45

For followers of the Lord’s Disciple of Autoloading Pistols, John Moses Browning, I present his Gospel.

In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was the pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, thou shalt not muck with my disciple John’s design for it is good and it worketh. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain.

And shouldst thou muck with it and hang all manner of foul implements upon it, and profane its internal parts, thou shalt surely have malfunctions, and in the midst of battle thou shalt surely come to harm.

And as the ages passed men in their ignorance and arrogance didst forget the word of the Lord and began to profane the 1911. The tribe of the gamesman did place recoil spring guides and extended slide releases upon the 1911 and their metal smiths didst tighten the tolerances and alter parts to their liking, their clearness of mind being clouded by lust.

Even when something good happens

The liberal elite wail and gnash their teeth.

Fewer homeless people on streets of San Francisco. 28% drop since fall of ’02

San Francisco’s new figures are based on a one-night homeless count, taken between 8 p.m. Jan. 26 and about 8 a.m. the next morning. It showed the city now has 6,248 homeless people living on the streets or in jails, shelters, rehabilitation centers or other emergency facilities — a 28 percent decline compared to 8,640 in October 2002, the last time such a count was conducted.

Sounds like a good thing, right?

Well, not according to the people whom you would think would like these numbers, the Homeless Advocates.

“There are still a lot of homeless people out there, and I’m still seeing some of the same people I’ve seen for the past 10 years,” Newsom said at a news conference to announce the numbers. “But it’s time to start focusing on the good things that are happening.”

If theyve been out there for 10 years, Gavin, Homelessness is the life style they have chosen. And no program you could come up with will help them.

Unless it is a Work or Get Out of Town program.

“The new figures were met with disbelief from homeless advocates who say they don’t square with reality on the streets. And they come at a time when most other counties in the Bay Area expect to report an increase in their homeless populations.”

And those are some words from those Homeless Advocates.

The first thing you need to remember is that the more Homeless people that there are on the streets, the more money they get.

They may be liberals, but they sure as hell know what makes the world go round.

So now, just what could the Homeless Advocates” be blaming for the fall in the Homeless Population?

Why the taxpayer funded Money for Nothing boondoggle that was recently cut.

“Leading to speculation that perhaps some homeless people are being driven out of the city by its welfare-slashing Care Not Cash program. Care Not Cash began in May 2004, cutting the welfare checks to homeless people from a high of $410 a month to $59 a month, giving them either a shelter bed or a permanent room instead. The number of homeless people on welfare since then has dropped 72 percent, from 2,497 to 693 today.”

Yes, you read that correctly folks!

Not giving the bums free money is tantamount to “Driving Them Out Of Town!”

And the liberals say that they live “In Reality”.

Good drugs folks. These jackasses are taking some damn good drugs.

Socialism is expanding in Montana

The Dems were quite proud of themselves after their take over of Montana.

They seem to be getting too big for their britches already though,

As an incentive for these “big box stores” to pay a living wage to their workers, Sen. Ken Toole’s Senate Bill 272 would impose a gross proceeds tax on these companies. They would be exempt from the tax if they paid their employees an entry level wage of at least $22,000 a year, counting both pay and benefits and if less than half of their workers were part-time.

To which Ted at Rocket Jones asks the question,

at what point does a company become so successful that they’ve become evil?

In case you didnt know it, while tourism is Montanas largest industry, Wal-Mart is Montanas largest employer.

If this little bit of socialism gets enacted, Montanians can pretty much expect Wal-Mart to pull up stakes and haul ass out of their Big Sky Country.

And if that happens and Senator Toole (how fucking true) is not run out of the state after being lit on fire, Ill do whatever I can to never visit there again. BTW, the wifes entire family lives there, so that isnt a hollow remark.

He does it again

Like myself, Laurence of TBIFOC is happy that Lance Armstrong is going for a seventh consecutive TdF title.

But he comes up with all the catchy lines,

“In the land of the ball-less, the one-balled man shall be king.”

I meant to post this yesterday

But oh well

Having elected Howard Dean as their new leader, the Dems have effectively cut off their own hands.

Which is just as well as they had already sewn their eyes and ears shut anyway,

Personally, I am applauding Scott Ott at Scrappleface for being the closest to the truth with comedy in this post.

My favorites,

The DNC, under Howard Dean’s leadership, envisions a future of…

* Protecting the Social Security system by declaring an end to “the crisis” and reducing news reports about the instability of the system.

* Protecting the unemployed by repealing the Bush tax cuts so that lawyers who get wealthy from class-action lawsuits can pay more taxes to support people who lose their jobs when their companies go bankrupt because of the high cost of insurance and litigation.

There are more where those came from.

Another thing I have noticed is that the left wing of the blogosphere is getting mighty brave.

I dont mean brave in the real sense, like the bravery shown by our fighting men and women, I mean brave as in sort seen in a Hollywood action flick where the heros lackey in the film charges alone into a large group of the enemy with a half-empty M-16 when the enemy is clearly armed with tanks.

They come out about the same as the guys in the red shirts from the old Star Trek shows.

Here are two quick examples from the Klueless Kos Klan.

First up, from Kos Kontributor, Chris Bowers

I’ve got something to say.

What we need are Democratic strongmen who will walk up to those conservatives in favor of the war and punch them in the face.

We need Janet Reno to find these hawks, have ATF agents with automatic weapons arrest them, and place them in an offshore prison where we can hold them without charges and declare them enemy combatants.

Maybe this is all too elaborate. Perhaps we should just drop bombs on their homes.

We do this because they are enraged at the prospect of being tolerant.

We do this because they are not real patriots.

We would rather hit them with baseball bats than talk to them.

Oh really Chris? How unkind of you to forget to invite me to your little shindig. Big brave man you are there. Step up and follow the trackback. I know you want some of this.

This next one is from Sue in NH.

Now, little Suzy has a dirty mouth. Mostly because her parents were too “Open Minded” with her upbringing. So open minded, in fact, their brains fell out. And Suzy’s did too.

Seeing as how we like to keep a blog that the whole family can enjoy here at RNS, Im going to do a little editing,

I’m a republican. F*ck you.

I’m a republican. I have my own pile of money. F*ck you.

I’m a republican. My kids go to private school. I don’t care about your kids, or public schools. When my kids are better educated than yours, they will get better jobs and make more money than your kids. F*ck you.

I’m a republican. I have a job with health insurance. If you were not so lazy or stupid, you would have a good job with health insurance too. It sure is sad when you go bankrupt after a catastrophic health crisis, but its probably your own damn fault anyway. F*ck you.

Now, Ive read all of those that follow and I can only agree with Dirty Little Suzy on three points, my job, democracy and taxes. The rest of her speil is just hateful stereotyping.

Big surprise there!

And lastly, Atrios calls Reynolds an idiot because the Instapundit can tell the difference between a Presidential candidate and a hack reporter.

Not that the Professor needs someone to defend him, I just thought I’d point out that in Eschatonland, there is no difference between the two.

Like I have said in the past, the Dems thrive off of their hatred. Deans new position is fuel on that fire. Let’s just watch them implode from a nice safe distance and hopefully one of two things will happen;

1. The Repubs will win their majority in the Senate in 06 and a then the White House again in 08

2. The left will finally get off their collective (and collectivist) asses and start on that Revolution thing they have been screaming about for nearly 40 years.

On second thought, maybe both of those things will happen. I havent bought all this ammo for nothing.

What a Maroon!

Headmistress Sondra K finds this item from Reuters,

Legal experts say prosecutors will look for jurors who are older, conservative, less taken with celebrity, willing to accept authority and appalled by child molestation.

Jackson’s attorneys may look for more liberal jurors who have advanced degrees and are critical thinkers who question authority.

Ah, I see! Only liberals with advanced degrees can be critical thinkers.

And this reporter must be a critical thinker because he was critical of conservatives.
