Now that St. Valentine’s Day is over

As you may have read a while back, the Analog Wife’s brother, Everett, is stationed at Camp Anaconda, Balad Airbase in Iraq with Delta Company, 1-189th Aviation Battalion.

Here is a pic of Everett as his company staged in the transient housing in Kuwait awaiting their aircraft and equipment.

Smiling upon command as usual

They have only recently gotten situated at Anaconda with their stuff, but Everett sends word that he should be getting his laptop and camera from home shortly and be sending pics for me to post here.

At home in Montana, Everett has a wife, two sons and a very new daughter who are missing him badly. I am making packages from Uncle Phil and Aunt Tessa to send to the kids during the time apart to help keep their spirits up. Books, toys games, etc.

A couple weeks before St. Valentine’s Day, I emailed Everett and detailed a secret plan to cover him on that holiday. He liked the idea and it was carried out.

Now that the holiday is over I can tell you of the secret plan, as the Analog Wife’s family members stop by RNS and I didn’t want the secret to get to her beforehand.

From ProFlowers.Com (whom I heard about via the Michael Medved Show) I placed an order of flowers and had them shipped to Mrs. Everett.

From the story told to me via the Analog Wife;

Mrs. Everett got a knock on the door. She answered it and there was a woman from UPS standing there with a delivery.

Mrs. Everett asked if the UPS lady had the right house because she couldn’t think of who could be sending her something from the place on the label. “It couldn’t be my husband. He’s in Iraq.”

The UPS lady double-checked the address and the name and said was pretty sure she had the right house. Mrs. Everett said “OK, come on in while I open it.”

She did open it and right on top of the 48 Petite Roses was the card with the Happy Valentine’s Day message I OK’d with Everett.

Rumor has it that tears of joy erupted from both Mrs. Everett and the UPS lady.

You gotta love it when you can do something nice for good people.

The coolest part is that she doesn’t know it was us (unless someone over there tells her, and we wouldn’t want that, now would we people?).

The next best part was that right after I placed that order, I snuck one in for the Analog Wife, completely surprising the cans right off her.

Anyway, I have got a small collection of pics from Balad that I’ll be sharing with you all in the near future and we should be hearing from Everett somewhat regularly in the near future.

I hope your holiday was as happy as Mrs. Everett’s was.
