Badge of Honor

“The crusaders’ hag came to sully the land of the caliphate…and wants the participation of apostates and secularists claiming to be Sunnis,â€? the group led by Jordanian Abu Musab al-Zarqawi said in the statement posted on Tuesday on a Web site used by Islamists on Tuesday.

If you haven’t already read this piece, try to guess who al_Qiada are talking about.

Sounds Good On Paper

In an effort to polish the teacher’s apple having passed notes in class, Nancy “Raving Anti-Gun Bitch Pelosi is proposing the following for her fellow House Dems

* Ban Members from accepting any gifts from lobbyists.

* Ban Members from secretly working with corporate lobbyists to write legislation.

* Ban lobbying by Members of Congress and high level staff for two years after leaving Congress.

* Enforce the ban on Members and staff soliciting privately-funded travel.

* Ban lobbyists from arranging and financing travel.

* End the ‘K Street Project’ – ban Members and staff from threatening lobbyists with official actions.

So now Pelosi is trying to look good in the wake of all the freshly made Democrat hay over Tom DeLay. Granted, that is what the opposition leader is supposed to do, but she should at least try to apologize for her past indiscretions first.

Oh well, at least this’ll be fun to watch.

On a side note, does anyone seriously believe that even a single part of this will be followed if/when the Dems ever win back the majority?

Quiz Time

I found this at a local left-wing site.

Your Political Profile

The questions are a bit presumptive and there is really no middle ground in the answers, but I think that this shows I am closer to the middle than that fella was.

The Swiss

May be questioning their involvement in the EU over their fondness of firearms ownership.

Shooting is more than just a sport to many Swiss, who believe a whole way of life would be under threat if the nation signs up to the Schengen accord.

Geared to improve cross-border security, the European Union agreement also lays down minimum requirements for acquiring and possessing firearms.

“The Swiss are well armed and enjoy great freedom,” wrote Machiavelli in 1532.

Many Swiss today see a causal connection between the two, with three million firearms in private hands.

And when they realised that a yes to Schengen would require changes to their liberal firearm laws, they came out with all guns blazing.

“We won’t let ourselves be disarmed by the EU!” says Willy Pfund, from the Committee for a Free Gun Law, which is calling for Schengen to be rejected, and also president of Pro Tell, a 7,000-strong pro-gun lobby.

“Not only is the security of Switzerland at stake but also the sovereignty of its gun laws,” Pfund added.

Pro Tell sees Schengen as the beginning of a slippery slope.

“If Switzerland enters into Schengen, sooner or later it will be forced to take on further tightening of European gun laws,” Pfund said.

The Swiss public is set to vote on whether to implement the accord, which covers other cross-border security issues and the removal of border controls with EU member states, on June 5. The upcoming ballot is also making emotions run high.

“This is an imported law that brings us nothing – it’s a farce!” Fritz Kilchenmann, president of the Zurich Shooting Association, told swissinfo.

“Respectable and law-abiding marksmen, hunters and gun collectors are being compared to criminals. You won’t prevent any crimes by taking weapons away from private owners and banning them,” said Kilchenmann.

Get used to it Fritz. Your fellow Europeans don’t care how you feel about being labeled as “Dangerous and “A Criminal because of your love of firearms.

But you can take heart in the fact that we can never have enough firearms loving people here in the US and you are welcome to join us. Just remember to bring your guns with you, please.

Local Story Update

You may remember my post last week about Edward Zanassi, the car thief who was caught in the act by the owner and then a fight ensued between the Zanassi, the car’s owner and the owner’s roommate. The roommate put the Zanassi in a choke hold to stop him from biting the car owner’s fingers off, which put the thief in the hospital in critical condition.

Well, Zanassi has died and it looks as if the choke hold was what killed him.

There is no word yet from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department about whether charges will be filed against either the car owner or his roommate. Hopefully, the matter is settled.

Ed Zanassi was not only a car prowler, he was also a mail thief who then used people’s identities to get money for his habit of Meth-Amphetamine.

Of course, now the family is coming out with the sob story of how he was beginning to turn his life around and last night on the top of the hour news on 710 KIRO, Zanassi’s brother was forming a conspiratorial “set-up as to how the car owner caught Zanassi breaking into his car.

More when/if anything pops up.

————-

As a local info fill-in, beating and/or strangling someone to death is not considered murder in Washington State, so long as the perpetrator says that they did not mean to kill the deceased.

Manslaughter is the worst either the car owner or the roommate can be charged with.

They should have been more careful what they wished for

In the brouhaha over Tom DeLay’s alleged ethics indiscretions, the Dems bitched and moaned about how the House Ethics Panel wouldn’t make themselves available to look at the case.

Too bad for the Dems that there was a person further up the ethics panel than DeLay,

When the partisan impasse over rules and procedures on the House ethics committee ends, the first member to face the panel won’t be House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, but rather Democrat Jim McDermott of Washington.

The Seattle-area congressman, one of the most vocal critics of Republicans, has been under investigation by the panel since last year over his role nearly nine years ago in the illegal taping and distribution of a phone conversation involving then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Buh-bye Baghdad Jim.

Is any of this a surprise to you?

Press Voted for Kerry 2-to-1 over Bush

A new survey confirms what many conservatives have long believed: Members of the press have an overwhelming bias for the Democratic Party.

The University of Connecticut Department of Public Policy found that journalists who were surveyed picked Democrat John Kerry over George Bush in the 2004 election by a margin of over 2-to-1.

And the coverage showed.

This is Typical

Kathryn Lopez of The Corner at NRO wrote about the Bolton nomination in her weekly syndicated column a while back. I didn’t read it, but I’m sure that it echoed my thoughts of support for Bolton and how the Dems were acting like spoiled children having to see the dentist about it, etc.

Well, she got a lot of mail about it. In fact she got a bunch of mail and this weekend she shared one of them.

The subject of ridicule here is from a person in Seattle who read Lopez’s column in the Times and it is quite typical of leftists in this town,

Oh, Yes, it seems to me, this John Bolton looks like a world-class JERK! He talks like a world-class BULLY! And he acts like a world-class FOOL!!!!!!!!! IF I have to use one word to describe John Bolton, in my very humble opinion, this guy is nothing but a piece of GABAGE!!!! And he’s nothing but A JACK-ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

He’s nothing but a world-class LOSER, a piece of JUNK and A JACK-ASS!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing more and nothing less!!!!

But obviously President Bush and his team LOVE LOSERS and JUNK!!!!!!!!! I know President Bush always feel very good about himself, but Since the Iraq WAR has been such a BLOOD MESS and A REAL DISASTER, and since President Bush’s job approval rating sank to his ALL TIME LOW in recent weeks , it seems to me , President Bush himself and his team are A LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What’s more — it seems to me , President Bush is more like the gabage collecter these days! That’s WHY he picked up that world-class JUNK John Bolton in the first place!!!!

I found this at Michelle Malkin’s blog. She used to call the font used by the Seattlite to type this letter ’15-point Left-Wing Freakout Script’ when she worked at the Times.

Sounds about right to me.

New Links

First up, RNS reader Mike G. has started a blog, titled ‘Mr. Completely’, for the mindless hell of it (his words, but I agree).

You may remember Mike as the gentleman whom I accompanied to the bowling pin shoot last month.

Next, reader DirtCrashr has a blog titled Anthroblogogy that I just found via the Carnival of Cordite this weekend.

He has coined a new term (at least new to me, so I am crediting him with it),

‘Bench Bling’

The word seems to cover any hot-shit or fancy item used in the shooting sports that will get ooh’s and ahh’s from fellow shooters.

As soon as I can figure out what happened to the blogrolls, these guys are going right up there. In the meantime, use these links to go check them out.
