Local Story Update

You may remember my post last week about Edward Zanassi, the car thief who was caught in the act by the owner and then a fight ensued between the Zanassi, the car’s owner and the owner’s roommate. The roommate put the Zanassi in a choke hold to stop him from biting the car owner’s fingers off, which put the thief in the hospital in critical condition.

Well, Zanassi has died and it looks as if the choke hold was what killed him.

There is no word yet from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department about whether charges will be filed against either the car owner or his roommate. Hopefully, the matter is settled.

Ed Zanassi was not only a car prowler, he was also a mail thief who then used people’s identities to get money for his habit of Meth-Amphetamine.

Of course, now the family is coming out with the sob story of how he was beginning to turn his life around and last night on the top of the hour news on 710 KIRO, Zanassi’s brother was forming a conspiratorial “set-up as to how the car owner caught Zanassi breaking into his car.

More when/if anything pops up.

As a local info fill-in, beating and/or strangling someone to death is not considered murder in Washington State, so long as the perpetrator says that they did not mean to kill the deceased.

Manslaughter is the worst either the car owner or the roommate can be charged with.
