I’m Meeting Alan Gura

…as he’s speaking at Santa Clara University next Wednesday, April 1st, from noon to 1pm. Click the link for details. If I can arrange a long lunch break that day, I’m there.

    I want to be there.

Cool! It’d be great to see you again. There’s mention in the Calguns thread that parking can be a bitch. Since you’re a local, any ideas on nearby off-campus parking?

I have to find it on a map first! Santa Clara U is a bit of a mystery-triangle to me. 🙂 They misspelled “Bannan” – It’s a big ugly building built in early 70’s style architecture, a “quad” of them actually:

Here’s a PDF of the event with a map.
I wonder if taking the light-rail to avoid parking problems would be feasible, but it looks a bit like there’s a parking structure across the street:

Reconnoitered today: University parking looks Teh Suk. Everything on-campus requires a permit sticker including the big parking structure between the stadium and the hall – which is easy to identify.
There’s some curbside parking on Franklin but I’ll bet at that hour it’ll be insanely crowded. The Santa Clara train station is right across the street and a 4-minute walk. And I’m about the same distance from the Mountain View Station here at home… Plenty of parking around here! Stop by here around 11:00AM 🙂

Train – Local – 138 – Direction: San Francisco to San Jose – Service run by Caltrain
    11:15am Depart Mountain View Caltrain
    14 mins
    11:29am Arrive Santa Clara Caltrain
