Never like sarcasm much, especially when was fonded in Lies.

    Greybeard
currently driving n 10 year old Silverado that runs like new, after trading off an S-10 pickup with 180,000 miles, because I thought it was worn out. The buyer drove it for another 70,000 miles.

I’ve been on the Internet from the very first days, (maybe not as long as Al Gore) (snicker), but these days with the plethora of misinformation, I’m truely considering pulling the plug.

Heya, Greybeard, even a Yugo can be made to run forever if you recognize and fix whatever goes wrong with it as soon as it goes wrong.

A reliable automobile is one which continues to run WITHOUT anything going wrong with it except expected wear items such as brakes, tires, etc.

You have to look at vehicles from the fleet manager’s perspective: it costs x dollars to run the fleet, and fleet budget divided by fleet size is the cost per car. If any car exceeds that cost, out of the fleet it goes.

An overly large proportion of the US passenger car TOE can’t meet fleet managers’ cost restrictions.

It’s hard to get around hard data, internet or no.

I read elsewhere that GM and Toyota sold the same number of cars wordwide, yet Toyota turned a $17B profit and GM had a $38B loss. So maybe it’s not the cars that are the problem.
