I “Hope” they keep this up

What is it with these freaks?

According to Richard Kim, Associate Editor of The Nation Magazine, the no on 8 Campaign failed for three reasons. It was disorganized and slow to respond. It didn’t organize in communities of color soon enough. And it fundamentally misunderstood what the yes on 8 campaign was about.

Or, to put it as previous Democrats would have “Them darkies weren’t smart enough to vote for what was good for them.”

Please, you guys, don’t keep these thoughts to yourself. Go on national television and say them.

I’m sure that the fine, upstanding people in the “communities of color” would love to hear that that you think they’re stupid unless you get a chance to “educate” them first.

From what I’ve seen in comments on the Democratic Underground the, “It didn’t organize in communities of color soon enough” is less because “Them darkies weren’t smart enough to vote for what was good for them” but the blame fell on the religiousity found in African-American communities. They believe that black churches were preaching for Prop. 8 before and more than any anti-prop.8 campaigns were. There’s also some criticism of the ‘on the down-low’ part of African-American culture too, but I don’t think that practice comes from religious belief.
