Oh, they used to love to play with their rifles. Mechanical masturbation. They had this habit of [pulling] back the charging handle, let it slide, and then for some god-unknown reason, pull the trigger, when there was no… magazine in — charge it and pull the trigger, make sure it went “click” — and they would do it 20, 30 times: pull the charging handle, pull the trigger, pull the charging handle, pull the trigger. And a couple of them forgot, when they had put the magazine in, they’d pull the charging handle, chamber a round, and pull the trigger and pop off a round.
[We had jokes that] they’d jack around and blow off their buddy’s head and claim the CIA had done it.
