Howdy All!

I’m back, safe and sound and in one slightly crispy piece. Sorry for the lack of posting over the duration of my trip.

Here’s the scoop: first off, Trib’s Place, the B&B I told y’all I’d be staying at while at the Boomershoot only had a dial up connection and it was just too much of a pain in the ass to reconfig my laptop and use it. Next, I stayed there with the venerable Kim du Toit and the Son & Heir. You try blogging when you have those two to conversate with. Thirdly, there was a truckload of shooting going on and it is hard to type when shouldering a rifle. Lastly, there were just way too many very excellent people there to not stay out until the near wee-hours BSing to go back and blog.

My apologies.

To make up for that though, I have a decent selection of pics that I’m currently editing for posting early Wednesday morning.

Watch this space.

I am currently working on switching my schedule back to that of nightwalker and recovering from self-inflicted injuries sustained during the trip. It is mainly just a very bad sunburn on the backs of my hands that makes it rather painful to do anything with them, including type. Let me get another day’s worth of aloe on them and we’ll see you all tomorrow morning.

Oh, and one more thing; I have made my lodging reservations for next year’s Boomershoot on an approximate set of dates. When I find out the actual dates I will both firm those up with Trib’s Place and then inform everyone reading RNS.

Even if you don’t plan on shooting, if you live within a day’s drive and don’t make time available to attend next year’s event, you’re either comatose or you’re a puss. This has now become one of my must-do activities.

I have done a large number of shooting events in the past 20-plus years I’ve been shooting, both competitive and non-competitive. This is the best I have been to. There isn’t even a close second in terms of the people (especially the host and staff), the activity, the safety and the location.

Start setting up your time off around the last week of April/first week of May 2006.

See you all here tomorrow.

Thanks for the nice words. I’m happy it turned out well for you. For me it went from “I want to put a bullet in my head” on Friday evening to “best event ever” on Sunday evening. Assuming there are no fires on the range in the next week or so…next year will be better.

Kudos to you, Joe for another successful meet. I hope to be there next year with something “Olde” to shoot at those sub-Creedmore distances.

As for AK, it’s a good thing you’re not in the military. You could get an Article 15 for abusing your body like that. Excuuuuuse me, it’s not YOUR body, it belongs to Uncle Sam.

Haha RD, I knew a couple guys at Naval Training Command Orlando (back when that command still existed) who got Captain’s Mast (Navy talk for Art. 15) for getting bad sunburns over the weekend at Daytona Beach. Charge: “Destruction of Government Property.” Cracked us up.

Anyway AK, glad you’re back safe, and I look forward to seeing the photos.
