In the Mecca of eminent stupidity within a morning’s driving distance from me, the City of Portland, OR has pulled themselves out of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Mayor Tom Potter is acting like a schoolyard bitch-boy because he, like every other mayor in the US, cannot get the Top Secret clearance necessary for unrestricted access to current investigations going on in his city and on the citizens involved.
As John at SomePoorSchmuckBlog says: “Tom just wants to give everyone a group hug.�
“I don’t think whether we stay in or out of the JTTF will determine the safety of Portland citizens. I think what will determine the safety of Portland citizens is when we work together, when we watch out for each and care for each other, that our society is safer.”
Pull your head out of your ass Tom; just what exactly do you think your JTTF officers were doing?
I am actually of two minds in all this…
My knee jerk reaction is that of a law abiding citizen who cannot stand having the feds mucking about in his backyard.
On the other hand, no potential terrorist would attack his home city (aka the ‘Don’t Shit Where You Eat’ frame of mind), but they would go after somewhere close by.
Hmmm, what other major metropolitan area could they attack that is within a short interstate drive?
Oh well, I guess I‘m locked and loaded for a reason.
