What Freedom of Speech?

By now I’m sure you’ve already heard of the Board of Supervisors in San Francisco trying to regulate the First Amendment rights of Bay Area Bloggers by making them “register with the city Ethics Commission and report all blog-related costs that exceed $1,000 in the aggregate.

“Blogs that mention candidates for local office that receive more than 500 hits will be forced to pay a registration fee and will be subject to website traffic audits, according to Chad Jacobs, a San Francisco City Attorney.

I hope that they succeed.

Yes, you read that right, I hope they are successful so that 1. It can be struck down by the courts just like Mayor Newsom’s illegal marriage activities of last year, and 2. Baghdad on the Bay can be the laughing stock of the nation for being the first to restrict the freedom of speech of its residents.

If the west coast capitol of leftist thought bans the freedom of communication, I can guarantee you that the lefties will throw a hissy fit at the people they elected and there will be no more claims that the only people who want to control the rights of others are the Republicans.

Unless of course, the only blogs that they investigate are those on the right side of the sphere. Then it’ll probably be OK with them.

Go Frisco! Show us your true Socialist side! I beg of you!
