Good News

From Mr. Completely.

Well, first of all, yesterday was his first blogaversary, so you should congratualte him on that. I know mine is sometime in may, but I don’t know which day, so good on him for remembering.

Next up, he is organizing the Gun Blogger Rendezvous in Reno, NV this November and has been looking about for a Speaker or ‘Guest of Honor’.

Yesterday, he fulfilled his quest. The man’s name is Dan McKown.

Like Mr. C said, if the name rings a bell, you might remember posts, both here at RNS and on other blogs, about a shooting at the Tacoma Mall last November.

Mr. McKown was the CCW holder who went towards the sound of the gun and was later shot by the gunman. Mr. McKown’s being at the Rendezvous is worth the price of admission to any event, and the cost of travel to this one.

Sadly, that is the Analog Wife and my anniversary and I am not allowed to go. It is all the more grating now that I hear who will be there.

Local Pol Stops By Right Wing Blog

Over the weekend RNS had a little visit from a man who is doing something I don’t think I have the big brass ones for: Running for Jim McDermott’s House seat.

Steve Beren made a very informational comment on the post about Clinton coming to help raise money for McDermott’s defense fund (and civil fines).

Here is his website, Beren for Congress. Check out his “Issues” section.

I like what the man has to say. And most likely, so will you.

Is this Diversity?

They’re forming a Prayer in School Blue Ribbon Committee in the Seattle School District that will look into, well, letting the students pray while at school.

Don’t go fallin out of your chairs just yet, this committee will only be trying to figure out how to make it so the Muslim students can get their prayer on.

The SPS Department of Race and Equity is looking for SEA members to participate in a “Prayer in Schools Committee,” the charge of which is to look at how to address this issue District wide and to provide information about our Muslim students that will help teachers and building leaders make decisions that support the needs of our diverse students and families.

I’m sorry, I must have a faulty dictionary. According to my Webster’s the words in the phrase “support the needs of our diverse students and families”, would have led me to believe that Christians, Buddhists, Hindis AND Muslims would be offered a solution by this committee.

I’m going straight down to Amazon.Com HQ and complain.

Free Speech Wednesday

I’ve got a trifecta of items involving the issue of free speech for you today. Oddly enough, the leftists who can find a 4th Amendment violation by the Bush Administration around every corner are probably patting themselves on the back about each and every one of these.

We’ll start in Boulder, CO:

Tuesday, the Boulder City Council will take up the matter of allocating public funding for a “hate hotline,” which would give residents an opportunity to report incidents in which Boulderites use tactless language.

That’s right, folks! You too can turn your neighbor in for a ‘Speech Crime’! Don’t like the joke I told a couple weeks back about the US being able to replace the 200,000 residents of Mexico City who were killed in an earthquake from the vast population of illegals here in America? You can phone the city’s hotline and report me. Well, if I lived in Boulder.

And now we’ll move across the pond to the UK where, as much as they and the eurofile lefitsts in the US would like to think they can say whatever they want, they most certainly cannot.

Venezuelan Dictator, Hugo Chavez, visited London and met with the city’s mayor, ‘Red’ Ken Livingstone. Livingstone, not wanting to have his new bestest pal offended, banned any and all anti-Chavez activists/protesters from the vicinity of the London City Hall.

I bet ‘Red’ Ken would have people shot in honor of a Castro visit. Just as entertainment, mind you.

That story was so good, I think we’ll finish off in the UK, where sending disgusting pictures to your local hospital in protest of their activities will get you crippled for life.

Edward Atkinson, a 75-year-old anti-abortion activist, was jailed recently for 28 days for sending photographs of aborted foetuses to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, Norfolk. That draconian sentence was not deemed punishment enough: the hospital has banned Mr Atkinson from receiving the hip replacement operation he was expecting.

The government giveth, and the government taketh away. Remember, to socialists, government is a diety.

Tuesday Dog Blogging: Belly Up Edition

Not enough sleep to keep awake at work last night, and now I feel like my big-man Russell did over weekend while I was watching moves.

P5150001.JPG

He slept like that for a good 90 minutes Saturday night. He didn’t even wake up when I got up to get the camera.

Russell is Dachsund-Corgi mix, commonly called a ‘Dorgie’. We figure he was at least 8 when we found him at the pound, which will put him at 13 this summer. It was his last week there before they were to put him down. We introduced him to our other dog, Ellie, and they got along so well that we just couldn’t leave him. His ‘young dog’ act is not what it used to be. The gray around the muzzle and on the paws is a sure giveaway. He still runs, but not quite as far or as fast, and he likes the step we gave him so that he can get onto the bed. Russ gets his childrens aspirin (half for breakfast/half for dinner) so that he doesn’t feel the pain too badly.

And I’ll be damned if he doesn’t give 100% every day, all day (even when he sleeps and has his dog dreams).

FYI, I was watching the 4th Harry Potter movie again to try and clear up some of the questions I had, to no avail.

I’d like to thank everyone who answered last week’s question about the books versus the movies. I’ve instructed the wife to keep and eye out for used copies of the books.

And now if you’ll excuse me, it is sleepy time.

Put Your Money in a Better Place

Last week, at the Klueless Kos Kids’ Klubhouse, diarist ‘TheBookPolice’ opined about how he wants, nay, DEMANDS, that he pay higher taxes.

I Want Higher Taxes: A Deconstruction

Let me just say it straight out: I WANT HIGHER TAXES.

What I do not want is government corruption and misuse of my tax dollars. When money is given to the government, the intent is that services are rendered on the taxpayer’s behalf. It’s a financial transaction, not protection money.

If I pay $5 per gallon of gasoline, and $3 of that is tax, and I get a free college education in return, that’s cool with me.

If I pay 7% sales tax, but my state gives me free health care, I’m not going to complain.

Obviously the guy is delusional. He has been convinced that if he gives a dollar to the government, he is going to get a dollar (or more) back. He wants the government to act as his investment banker. “I give you thousands of dollars of tax money and then you give me ‘free’ healthcare.”

What a maroon!

He goes on to say that because the Dems have to preface every one of the statements on taxes with “nobody wants higher taxes” that the Repubs have “Hijacked” the tax debate. in fact, if you follow this link, you’ll see that he even put up a poll on the topic and that all but 12 of the 499 voters agree with him.

Once again, his over-inflated self-esteem has shown him, and them, to be idiots.

The real answer to his poll question, one that he didn’t offer to those answering is that, really, nobody wants higher taxes.

Of course, if you’re a Democrat, that is simply preposterous and it just goes to show how stupid most of the people are and how badly they need your leadership to show them that that they DO want higher taxes.

Government is not an investment. Up actually is up, not down.

Deal with it, lefties. If you want to pay higher taxes, the IRS will not turn you down. But leave me the hell out of your insipid plans.

The First Rule of Bachelor Party is:

You don’t talk about Bachelor Party!

Tits McGhee, whom I’ve spoken about here before, is getting married in a couple weeks and her Bachelorette Party was last Saturday. She had told me about it on Friday and I asked how it went when I got in to work yesterday evening.

Whereupon, she broke the first rule of Bachelor/Bachelorette parties, turned to me and told me a good number of the juicy details. As she was running them down, I started a checklist in my head about all the rules her party broke.

At least, I thought they were rules. I appears that some folks never got the memo. Since we’ve already covered number one (you just enthusiastically tell people it was the best time you’ve ever had and no more), we’ll cover the rest of them that I can remember off the top of my head.

This is your last night/weekend out on the town as a free man/woman. You are supposed to cut loose while trying to not break too many laws.

2. No Cameras. Would you take a camera to a murder? Do you think the kids who videotape themselves stealing/looting/vandalizing are idiots? Just as they are idiots, taking a camera to a Bachelor Party is idiotic. BAD!

3. No Married People – Spouses have a way of getting anything out of the other person. If you have a married guy at your party, his wife will soon know everything you don’t want her to and it’ll get back to your new significant other. BAD!

This is also known as one of the few incentives for guys to get married earlier than their friends. The last couple guys in the group to get married have some of the lamest parties.

4. No Co-Workers - Ever heard of “Water cooler chat”? Your party’s happenings won’t be secret for long. BAD!

5. No Relatives. Especially no relatives of the person you’re marrying. This one should be obvious. BAD!

OK, those are most of the major ones that Tits McGhee broke last Saturday. She not only had three co-workers with her, she had the groom’s sister. Only one of the girls who attended wasn’t married and two of the girls are married to the groom’s cousins.

Also, EVERYONE BROUGHT A CAMERA!

Shortly after Tits got done telling me the PG bits, she checked her emails to find the multitudes of pics from that night. Needless to say, her next hour was quite unproductive as she had to call the people who sent the pics and tell them to delete them. But too late, they had also sent them to the other girls (including the co-workers) who attended the party. And it went downhill from there. I’m sure I’ll be seeing emails and get pulled aside to be told about who did what where, etc., tomorrow when I get in.

The wedding is still on, but just like Lucy, “she has some splainin to do”.

If these rules sound a bit harsh, just think about the craziest shit you’ve ever done, double it, and then wonder why you’d want anyone knowing about it.

Since the statute of limitations is up, and you don’t know the guy, I’m gonna break radio silence on a friend’s party held a few months before I met the Analog Wife.

Low Expectations

Bush is scheduled to deliver a speech to the nation that wil focus on the illegal immigration debate. I’m not expecting anything new or exciting, in fact, what I’m expecting was encompassed by this cartoon I snagged from John at Some Poor Schmuck

iitoon.gif

There have been stories about the members of our armed services being placed on the border in the news since the middle of last week, but knowing Bush’s stance on the issue, IF he actually sends them there, he’ll give them a half-assed and unclear set of orders for the mission, something ugly will happen, and they will be immediately withdrawn.

The speech will play at 1700PDT here on the left coast and that is about the time I usually wake up to get ready for work, so I won’t be liveblogging it like I’m sure a number of other bloggers will. I may not even listen to it, because I’m not expecting much.

I have been wrong before. Let us hope that this is another one of those time.

I get mail

In an email from my co-worker, Paul, came this eBay auction

Titan 1 ICBM Missile Base – Located in Washington State:

Located about 1 1/2 hours from Spokane, 4 hours from Seattle, 5 hours from Portland. 360 degree views. Private water system. High power lines on site. Hardened buildings built to withstand 1 Megaton nuclear blast within 3000 feet. Wall thicknesses up to fourteen feet. 3-155ft tall missle silos. A dozen other large to huge buildings underground. Thousands of feet of connecting tunnels. Paved roads. Security fencing. (see link for pics)

Jokester pricks got the auction voided, so I don’t know what the actual going price was or even the reserve price, but I’m thinking I’d like something like that, except for the long commute.

But what an excellent place for the RNS blogstation!

If you’re feeling up to donating to help move the RNS Washington Blgstation, leave a comment.

In another email from Paul, his nephew, Marine Corporal Daniel J. Redding, who is currently stationed at Camp Habbiniayh, Iraq, sent him an article he got published in the Marine Corp Times.

Iraqi bomb disposal soldiers wor with coalition, learn from IED experts

While most service members do their best to avoid road-side bombs or walk in the opposite direction of a known landmine field, a small community of American troops seek such threats head on and are now training their Iraqi counterparts to do the same.

American explosives ordnance disposal technicians are overseeing the development of an EOD company in the Iraqi Army’s 1st Division, which is based out of nearby Camp Habbiniyah.

The area surrounding Habbiniyah, where many military commanders believe insurgents transit or stage for attacks in Ramadi and Fallujah, has been a beehive of activity for improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which keep the EOD personnel steadily employed.

The 1st Marine Logistics Group’s EOD Company here stays busy responding to 15 – 25 calls daily.

Wh-wh-wh-what? If I were one who reads leftie blogs and listens to the MSM, I would not be allowed to believe this story of the non-existent Iraqi Army and their being too unloyal or incompetent to learn how to defend themselves.

Good thing I’m not an idiot.

Semper Fi Corporal Redding

Cpl. Redding photographing the EOD explosion that accompanied the article. Notice the video camera in the pic, I’m trying to that from Paul too. He says when he gets it, we’ll get it.

55,000 = 128

At least here in leftie land, Washington State, that is how the math works.

Friday it was announced that 55,000 dead or ineligible voters have been removed from the statewide voter database.

In Saturday’s Seattle Times it was also mentioned that the state is looking into almost another thousand people who are currently residing in various jails and prisons but are still registered to vote (at the end of the article, of course).

You may remember that Barely Governor Gregoire was handed the job after the last re-count allowed by law supposedly gave her 129 more votes than her better opponent, Dino Rossi. A judge, whom the Gregoire supporters claimed had a vicious right wing bent, ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prove felons, double registraions and dead people were to account for enough votes to break the 129 vote margin.

My ass.

If you missed the RNS coverage of the 2004 Washington State Governor’s Election Debacle, you can click here to get to the ‘Count Any Vote’ category, where the posts are contained. Some fo the archived posts are missing because the pre-2005 archives don’t want to play WordPress’ game, but you’ll get the general gist of the situation.

Due to updates that fit the category but aren’t “WSGED Related” you’ll want to scroll about 2/3 of the way down the page to see the last one, Part Dvadtsat Vosem (Part 29).
