Will they ever stop crying?

My guess is: No.

This photo appeared on the GOP.com website

If you look at the far left image you’ll see, ‘Screaming Mad’ Howard Dean.

If you look closely at his upper lip, you’ll see a shadow.

The Looney Left are trying to make that ad out to be a vicious attempt by the GOP to put a Hitler mustache on Howard Dean.

However, if you look at the original photo

deangoesmad2.jpg

You’ll see that the only thing the GOP is guilty of is NOT manipulating the photo. The GOP did not use the ‘Lighten’ portion of the contrast slide to take the shadow away, as was done in this photo

dean_scream_cap2.jpg

So it basically comes down to left-wing bloggers, feeling sad that their media darlings were caught by right wing bloggers doctoring photos coming out of Lebanon, and had to try and come up with their own ‘photoshopping scandal’.

Unfortunately for them, there is no requirement that their opposition be made to make their Party Chairman look good. If they can use the same picture of Dick Cheney scowling in every ad they produce, the GOP doesn’t have to process the 5 o’clock shadows of their Chairman.

We won’t even mention all the Nazi posters carried by Democrats protesting the 2004 RNC in NYC.

It is such a pity when they have to make up their own outrages.

More Media Distortion

Lost amid all the hubbub about the al-Reuters and NYT fauxtoshopping debacles may have been this wonderful gem:

Major General McCoy’s righteously pissed-off letter to the Washington Post describes – in detail, with specific examples — the misleading and inaccurate nature of Andy Mosher and Griff Witte’s story in the Post about Iraq reconstruction progress — or rather, the “flailing reconstruction effort,” as they put it. Read the whole thing.

(Buried in the reporters’ own story is the real lede — “the United States has completed 82 per cent of its planned projects.” But nooo, let’s emphasize the worst, shall we? And so they did. Bastards.)

Just as strong as we could be…

US News and World Report cites an “insider” memo touting GOP voters’ overwhelming willingness and intent to “jam the November polls to return their team to Congress.”

Like a rock, indeed. Click the link to read the article and the memo.

Here’s a good sign that the big GOP operators are leaving no stone unturned to keep the majority in the Fall: in the last two weeks, I got hit up on the phone for money by both Duf Sundheim’s folks and the NRCC — and despite being a loyal GOP member since law school, I haven’t had a phone solicitation from my party before. Not once in the last ten years!

Yes, I contributed. I appreciated that they were careful not to call during the dinner hour.

D & What?

Ace says they’re old, but I’ve never seen these inspirational posters dedicated to role playing game geekdom before, so I’m linking to them.

At least, I think I’d remember this one

Live the game. Love the game. Embrace your inner geek (or, in the case of women such as the Analog Wife, your outer one).

Guess Who’s Back

The Analog Wife is back, but that doesn’t mean that ‘Beef Week’ has ended at Casa de Analog.

No siree! Because she remember my only request while she was in MT: Bison!

I’ve got me 15lbs of Bison Burger waiting to be patty-fied and grilled ever so gently. Then topped with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and either my favorite mustard or some flavor-rich, but not too spicy BBQ sauce.

Sorry, I missed ‘sharing lessons’ in kindergarten, so you’ll have to get your own.

Neener.

And if I do say so myself, I deserve it.

Seattle metro locals will know of the events of the last weekend. Non-locals should know that this weekend the city hosted The Chevrolet Cup Hydroplane races on Lake Washington, an aeronautical precision flight demonstration team called, I hope I get this right, “The Blue Angels”, and a goodly portion of a US Navy carrier battle group for a little celebration we have every year at this time called “Seafair”.

Having lived in this area for a good, long time, and beeen woken up by The Angels one too many times, I fail to get excited about Seafair, but my attitude is not shared by too many around these parts. There were record crowds (and a record number of arrests for ‘BUI’ – Boating Under the Influence) and a record number of sideline events all happening over the weekend.

And I got to clean up the mess.

OK, technically, it was ‘My Employer and I’, but they just paid me for the work. As of last night we now have 95% of what needed to be done, done, I feel like a horse that was ridden hard and put away wet. If I hadn’t had a handpicked crew of damn good drivers, I know I would feel a lot worse though, because this is my sixth year doing it. We’ve got it down to a science these days, if you don’t count having to bounce the drunks on shore who want to ride in the garbage truck off your forks.

So, it is to be announced that as of right now (currently 0820PST) I have completed my workweek and will be spending the next couple days doing not a whole lot, which is currently my most looked forward to activity.

Bison burgers, beers and hanging with the wife (who still has another week left before she has to go back to work).

I’ll be here. I’ve got a few things to hammer out before they get posted, but they’ll hopefully be worth the wait.

And I know I said I wouldn’t share, but just out of curiosity, what would you like on your burger?

Yesterday’s News

Or at least for us Left Coasters, last night’s news.

Lieberman lost. Everyone knew it was going to happen, just not by how much (except for Allah at Hot Air).

52-48 was the final count which, if you ask Lamont supporters, was a stiff blow to the establishment.

I forget, how much did Kerry lose by again?

Cynthia McKrazy also lost. Big time. If you scroll to the bottom of this post, you can see her imply that the voting machines had something to do with her loss. Blaming the machines is a staple of Democrat excuses for why their agenda didn’t cut it with the voting public. And you may have noticed that, while they used the same brand of machines in Connecticut, we’re not hearing them cry foul about Diebold there today.

You can also add to the list of stupid things said by whack-job Cyndi, her psuedo-but-not-really-concession speech, where she uses a JFK quote about “those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable”, getting applause from the crowd.

How much longer before “The Jooows” are blamed like in 2002?

And remember, Kos said that he would support this anti-Semetic, conspriacy theorizing nutjob if she won the chance to be re-elected in this run-off.

Yay! More Lists!

If you have some time and aren’t afraid of a bit of repetition, Greg Gutfield, a non-looney leftist who blogs at the Huffington Post, has a couple items you might like to read:

To Tell the Truth

Would completly squash their point.

No, I’m not talking about the “Fair Tax” again, I’m talking about ‘Captain Future’, one of inmates at the Kos Kids Animal Farm and Petting Zoo.

Here, Captain Future equates the bombing done by US and Britain’s WWII air corps over Germany with the random firing of rockets by Hezbollah.

He also uses this HuffPo post by Norman Soloman to claim that the dropping of the first nuclear bomb over Hiroshima was an American terrorist act and that then President, Harry S. Truman, lied about the circumstances in pick Hiroshima as a target.

Actually, the U.S. government went out of its way to select Japanese cities of sufficient size to showcase the extent of the A-bomb’s deadly power — in Hiroshima on Aug. 6 and in Nagasaki on Aug. 9. As a result of those two bombings, hundreds of thousands of civilians died, immediately or eventually. If Truman’s conscience had been clear, it’s doubtful he would have felt compelled to engage in such a basic distortion at the dawn of the nuclear era.

In the real world, the word “showcase” means “test” and “deadly power” means “destruction radius”.

Captain Future continues:

In fact, Hiroshima had no military bases, and had not been bombed before–one of the principal reasons it was chosen for the A-bomb, so its destructive power would be more obvious to the Japanese and clearer for Americans studying those effects. It was considered a “safe city” to the extent that some parents in California who were forced into internment camps, sent their children to the safety of Hiroshima. So the victims of the U.S. atomic bomb likely included American children.

First off, I have never seen a claim that any American of Japanese descent sent their child back to Hiroshima after war was declared. When a nation is pissed off enough to lock up an entire community based on their ancestry, the safe bet is not to send your children back to the country that attacked them.

Secondly, anyone who knows even the smallest bit of history of the factors used to select the targets for our attempt to end WWII knows that Hiroshima was a heavly fortified and near constant port of supply for both the Japanese Army and Navy until the bomb was dropped.

A student of WWII history also knows that we purposely held off bombing Hiroshima in order to 1. Keep pre-Little Boy damage to a minimum, and 2. To make sure they weren’t spooked everytime they saw a B-29 fly over.

But then again, these are members of “The Reality Based Community” and I’m sure that they have “Reality Based Historical Facts” that make them feel superior, even though those facts resemble nothing close to the truth.

It really is that simple

Found at TheNewSteveSilver.Net (who was linked to by Karol at Alarming News) is this quote from Margo Howard, daughter of the late Ann Landers, and published by Martin Peretz at The New Rebublic.

OK, now that I’ve attributed everyone, here is the quote:

“If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.”

No overly complicated nuance. No Shades of greyish-pinkish, purple. Just the solid truth in 30 words or less.

Which, of course, infuriates the left, for their is nothing left for them to interpret for us. We can see plainly see what needs to happen, but sadly never will.

Which is why the deranged leftists insist that there must be some other way or someone else to blame, because they can’t ‘Kubayah’ hard enough to make the thing that has to happen, happen.

Its a good idea

Let’s help him refine it.

Our good man, Rivrdog has decided that he has had with all of the available political parties, and has decided that starting his own will suit him best.

He calls it: The Retrotarians (

While like everything that I see in the platform, I would suggest that the date he is looking for isn’t the 1950’s, but closer to the nice round year of 1800.

America was still untamed and treated as such. People who couldn’t take it upon themselves make their own way generally stood a good chance of paying for it themselves.

The states were still almost wholly independant of the federal government and there wasn’t even a hint of a welfare state.

Granted, it wasn’t not a good thing to be a non-caucasian person in America around this time, but since then, we have woked those things out. In 1800, we’ve still got a number of the Founding Fathers around and folks were generally polite. However, when they weren’t, taking on an opponent in a duel was considered psuedo-illegal, but it was not an infrequent happening.

Then again, that is just my opinion. You might think about it yourself and take it up with RD.
