Guess Who’s Back

The Analog Wife is back, but that doesn’t mean that ‘Beef Week’ has ended at Casa de Analog.

No siree! Because she remember my only request while she was in MT: Bison!

I’ve got me 15lbs of Bison Burger waiting to be patty-fied and grilled ever so gently. Then topped with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and either my favorite mustard or some flavor-rich, but not too spicy BBQ sauce.

Sorry, I missed ‘sharing lessons’ in kindergarten, so you’ll have to get your own.

Neener.

And if I do say so myself, I deserve it.

Seattle metro locals will know of the events of the last weekend. Non-locals should know that this weekend the city hosted The Chevrolet Cup Hydroplane races on Lake Washington, an aeronautical precision flight demonstration team called, I hope I get this right, “The Blue Angels”, and a goodly portion of a US Navy carrier battle group for a little celebration we have every year at this time called “Seafair”.

Having lived in this area for a good, long time, and beeen woken up by The Angels one too many times, I fail to get excited about Seafair, but my attitude is not shared by too many around these parts. There were record crowds (and a record number of arrests for ‘BUI’ – Boating Under the Influence) and a record number of sideline events all happening over the weekend.

And I got to clean up the mess.

OK, technically, it was ‘My Employer and I’, but they just paid me for the work. As of last night we now have 95% of what needed to be done, done, I feel like a horse that was ridden hard and put away wet. If I hadn’t had a handpicked crew of damn good drivers, I know I would feel a lot worse though, because this is my sixth year doing it. We’ve got it down to a science these days, if you don’t count having to bounce the drunks on shore who want to ride in the garbage truck off your forks.

So, it is to be announced that as of right now (currently 0820PST) I have completed my workweek and will be spending the next couple days doing not a whole lot, which is currently my most looked forward to activity.

Bison burgers, beers and hanging with the wife (who still has another week left before she has to go back to work).

I’ll be here. I’ve got a few things to hammer out before they get posted, but they’ll hopefully be worth the wait.

And I know I said I wouldn’t share, but just out of curiosity, what would you like on your burger?

  1. Gerry N. says:

Bison burgers are best accompanied by a light application of mayo on the lightly toasted bun and a glass or three of your favorite beer. Grill just until the juices run clear and enjoy. The wonderful flavor of buff is easily overpowered by too many goodies in the sammige with it. Much better to have one or two in each burger, and have half a dozen burgers with differing “go withs.” *burp*

That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

  2. Blue Moon White for beer, ’tis a light tasting bev that won’t overpower the bison.

As for the fixin’s like Gerry says, don’t go too heavy on the taste adds, but I do like the med chilies and lime combo. But that’s me.

On a related note, we’ve found Bison available at the QFC in Ballard, and Zesto’s carries buffaloe burgers, (But I suspect it may actually be beefaloe, still good though)
