The Latest Outrage

To cross the leftosphere:

Fox News Channel will host an August 2007 Democratic Debate in Reno, Nevada

To quote the ever barf-o-riffic “Stilwell” at the Northwest Progressive Institute Official Blog

Look, forget about the old saw that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Fox Noise Channel is an illegitimate propaganda tool of the Republican Party. Any Democrat who participates in this should not be supported. Period.

Hopefully Harry Reid will do something about this, quick.

Sorry Stilwell, Harry’s too busy getting ready to sue the people who outed his illegal land dealings to worry about this.

All Done

Sorry for the short shrift from me yesterday. I had spaced off something important until early yesterday morning and had to stop blogging in oder tocomplete it.

What was this important thing, you might ask?

Yesterday was my day to play Ty Webb to the federal government’s Judge Smails and try to get back some of my money that the government has been holding from last year.

Mission accomplished. Na-na-na-na-na.

Though once again, I notice that there was no interest added to what they owed me after taking too much out of my checks for the 17th year in a row.

So if you get to the bottom of the page and haven’t read about the pro-amnesty twerps, hit the next page button.

That is all.

RNS Quote of the Day: 02/20/07

Admiral Ahab over at the WhatWouldJohnWayneDo blog made mention of his unappreciation of the “black rifles” yesterday, in the wake of the Dumbo-Zumbo blogsplat. There is none of the Zumbo-BS about their right to exist or people’s right to own them and use them as they please in Ahab’s statement, they just don’t do anything for him.

As I made mention in his comments section, I have somewhat of the same feelings towards them, despite the fact that I own a number of them. I can appreciate a fine rifle, and I own the rifles I appreciate (and can afford). But give me a bolt action rifle or a pump shotgun and I’m downright happy.

The semi-autos I own are fine examples of their design and I appreciate them for those qualities and also for the qualities that are mentioned in today’s quote.

Combat Rifles were not designed for plinking, although they are great fun for such. They were not designed for target shooting or for deer hunting, though many can suffice. Rugged, powerful and self-loading military rifles were designed to incapacitate and kill men in great numbers and at great distances. When Bad Guys appear suddenly and singly at close range, a pistol will usually solve your problem. When they appear at greater numbers or greater distances, only a battle rifle will do. Lethal emergencies vary, and so do the tools necessary to solve them. Owning combat rifles is no cause for shame, for lethally aggressive men deserve to be shot, and shot well.

Boston T. Party – Boston’s Gun Bible – pp 8/1

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it right now: 2007 is my year of the semi-auto. Until Congress retires for the session, I will not feel safe without these rifles.

10 Minutes with Wayne

If you didn’t swing by Uncle’s Place and click the link to the NRA vids on YouTube, now might be a good time to do so before they get yanked down.

Four vids, ranging from one minute to just under four minutes of Wayne LaPierre debating some worthless soul of the female and foreign variety who works with one of the UN Disarmament Brigades. LaPierre seems a bit stiff, but puts on point the fact that her and her organization want a complete disarmament of all “World Citizens”.

Go. Now. Click. Watch.

Here is your meal, Citizen.

I don’t like this one bit. It seems like “training” to me.

School district finds unique way to charge students for lunch

The Bethel School District says it plans to expand a “fingerprint” system for school lunches.

The district right now has a pilot program at Centennial Elementary in Graham.

The District says its communication with parents wasn’t perfect this time. They promise community meetings and a chance for parents to say “no”.

But they want people to know this is not really fingerprinting, it is a lunch identification program that doesn’t store any information which could be used for identification purposes.

The scanning of biometrics by any government agency creeps me out. But when they start accustomizing children to it, that sends up so many red flags that my skin begins crawling.

Am I going deaf?

I mean, a critic of the President is fined for making fun of one of his daughters, and no left-wing retard is going apeshit over this?

Oh. Wait. Nevermind.

The article is talking about President for Life, Hugo Chavez

Comedian Laureano Marquez has poked fun at politicians for decades without getting into trouble with the law, so he didn’t think twice about writing a tongue-in-cheek newspaper opinion article based on a satirical dialogue between President Hugo Chavez and his 9-year-old daughter.

But Marquez and a publishing company that printed the column in the Tal Cual newspaper are now facing fines imposed by a local court for “violating the honor, reputation and private life” of Rosines Chavez Rodriguez, Chavez’s youngest daughter.

Marquez – one of Venezuela’s leading humorists – denies any wrongdoing and argues that the $18,600 fine imposed on the Mosca Analfabeta publisher is part of a government initiative in which pro-Chavez prosecutors and judges are being used to silence critics.

In other Venezuelan news, Chavez seems to think he can play a shell game with his country’s monetary system

Venezuela to chop 3 zeros off currency bills

President Hugo Chavez said he will chop three zeros off new bolivar currency bills to bolster Venezuelans’ perception of a strong currency in a bid to curb inflation, which is now highest in Latin America.

The bolivar, named after Chavez’s 19th century hero Simon Bolivar, trades above 4,000 bolivars to the dollar on the parallel market, around double the official fixed exchange rate is 2,150 bolivars.

Chavez said he wants to alter the bills so that for example, a 1,000 bolivar note would be a one bolivar coin.

He must think that his subjects are absolutely fucking stoopid.

OK, maybe the ones who voted for him are.

Their Twisted Idea of “Fair”

If you do well in your job, odds are you will be rewarded. That is fair.

If you do poorly in your job, chances are that you will be fired. That is fair.

However, if you are a teacher who does your job either very well or poorly, the National Education Association wants to make sure that you will see neither a reward or an unemployment line.

The nation’s largest teachers union on Tuesday urged U.S. senators to oppose an appropriations amendment that would grant money to educators who perform well, a stance that confused the amendment’s author, who was among the recipients of the letter.

“I am astonished,” Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said on the Senate floor Tuesday about a letter from the National Education Association urging him to vote against his own amendment to the FY2007 Continuing Resolution.

The Department of Education says on its website the TIF “supports efforts to develop and implement performance-based teacher and principal compensation systems in high-need schools” through student academic achievement and regular in-class evaluations of the teachers.

Alexander criticized the union for threatening to label senators “anti-education” for what he characterized “support[ing] a program to find a fair way to reward outstanding principals and teachers who are teaching low-income children and helping them succeed.”

“What they are against is helping find a fair way to pay good teachers more for teaching well, and to train and help good principals lead schools — especially in big cities where we have a lot of low-income children who are falling behind,” he said.

The NEA director of education policy and practice said the organization opposes TIF because its objectives are unpopular among teachers. The NEA believes the money could be better spent in other programs.

Yes, other programs like “Put the condom onthe banana” for 2nd graders or some new sideways math theory that doesn’t do anything but confuse the kids.

As Coach TC implied at KisP: Why does the NEA hate America’s children?

Tough Tortillias

If these people want these people to stay in the US so badly, why aren’t they willing to pay for the expense out of their own pockets?

Groups condemn immigration raids

Immigrant advocates and two local religious leaders said Thursday they would launch a program to offer sanctuary to illegal immigrants if the federal government continues to raid work sites and deport individuals without fixing its immigration system.

Several groups’ representatives, including a Catholic bishop, called a news conference to denounce Wednesday’s raids at two United Parcel Service warehouses in Auburn, where agents arrested 51 immigrants they believe are in the country illegally.

At Thursday’s news conference, advocates and religious leaders called for a moratorium on such raids until Congress can reform the nation’s immigration system. Without a halt, El Comité Pro-Amnistia, an immigrant justice group, said it would announce the launch of a local sanctuary by the end of March as part of a national effort.

“We don’t know that our call for a moratorium will be unsuccessful,” said the Very Rev. Robert Taylor, dean of St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral Church.

Taylor, who came to the U.S. as a political exile from South Africa, revealed that he lived as an illegal immigrant for three years during the 1980s. “If there is no response, then sanctuary is the next step.”

Hmm. “El Comité Pro-Amnistia”?

I wonder what kind of immigration “reforms” would make them happy?

It’s nice that Taylor came here from South Africa, even if he had to live illegally for a time, but none of the people he is protecting is a “political exile” or anything of the sort.

And I notice that nowhere in the article does he offer to pay for these people’s living expenses. He is willing to make his parishoners pay for it, but his own wages will probably see very little change.

It is like Washington State Representative, Mark Miloscia, who is attempting to push a bill through that would free up churches so that they have little to no requirements to meet in order to set up “Tent Cities”

The discord between faith organizations and cities over temporary homeless encampments prompted Rep. Mark Miloscia, D-Federal Way, to introduce a bill that would make it unlawful for cities to keep faith communities from hosting the encampments. The bill also states that no jurisdiction shall impose a maximum stay of fewer than 90 days.

“We’ve got this ongoing fight between cities and churches,” Miloscia said. “It’s still going on; it hasn’t settled down.”

The churches sem to have no qualms with pissing off any members who might disagree or their neighbors by setting tent cities on their property.

Drug use and other minor property crime rates rise when these shitholes come to town and even the homeless advocates cannot deny that the same people just sort of follow these encampments around.

This isn’t “helping people” and it isn’t “charity”. It is justification of a chosen lifestyle, enabled and perpetuated by groups of gullible idiots who think they’re doing something good.

Unfortunately for the people and families that have to live next to these things, which will be exactly what will happen if the “pro-amnesty” idiots don’t get their way, the “good” the churches are doing is making themselves feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

These people chose to come here illegally. Perpetual homelessness is a choice.

If people would stop treating the illegals and the “homeless” nicely, they would have less incentive to do what they do.

There Goes Another One

From Cabela’s Forums, a post by one Frank Ross, Cabelas.com admin:

While Cabela’s believes everyone has the right to express their own opinions, we strongly disagree with Jim Zumbo’s February 16 posting on his Hunting with Jim Zumbo blog on Outdoor Life’s Web site.

Throughout our 46-year history, Cabela’s has firmly supported all aspects of shooting sports. We strongly support the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States and the right of every U.S. citizen to purchase, own and enjoy any legal firearm of their choosing.

While we fully support Mr. Zumbo’s First Amendment right of free speech, we believe his opinions on this matter are counter to those shared by Cabela’s and many of our customers. Cabela’s Legal Department is currently reviewing contractual obligations and commitments regarding our sponsorship of the Jim Zumbo Outdoors television show.

…as well they should.

Cabela’s is a GREAT company, and this just proves it. My own awe-struck take on visiting a Cabela’s store for the first time this year is here. Maybe I’ll buy my Remington ammo from them.

Hooray for Remington!

I see that Jim Zumbo’s now a stock clerk. Still has the same attitude, though.

Remington’s my new favorite firearms company, after dumping their sponsorship of Zumbo faster than I think anyone expected. I’m gonna go buy some Remington ammo this week, to emphasize my approval of their quick reaction to Zumbo’s idiotic comments. I don’t own a Remington firearm — and until this whole firestorm, I hadn’t planned on ever owning one. Thanks to Remington CEO Millner’s obvious support of the 2nd Amendment, that’s going to change this year.

So, what to buy? That is, what does Remington make that would interest a non-hunting, left-handed, California shooting enthusiast? Advice is welcome.
