Am I going deaf?

I mean, a critic of the President is fined for making fun of one of his daughters, and no left-wing retard is going apeshit over this?

Oh. Wait. Nevermind.

The article is talking about President for Life, Hugo Chavez

Comedian Laureano Marquez has poked fun at politicians for decades without getting into trouble with the law, so he didn’t think twice about writing a tongue-in-cheek newspaper opinion article based on a satirical dialogue between President Hugo Chavez and his 9-year-old daughter.

But Marquez and a publishing company that printed the column in the Tal Cual newspaper are now facing fines imposed by a local court for “violating the honor, reputation and private life” of Rosines Chavez Rodriguez, Chavez’s youngest daughter.

Marquez – one of Venezuela’s leading humorists – denies any wrongdoing and argues that the $18,600 fine imposed on the Mosca Analfabeta publisher is part of a government initiative in which pro-Chavez prosecutors and judges are being used to silence critics.

In other Venezuelan news, Chavez seems to think he can play a shell game with his country’s monetary system

Venezuela to chop 3 zeros off currency bills

President Hugo Chavez said he will chop three zeros off new bolivar currency bills to bolster Venezuelans’ perception of a strong currency in a bid to curb inflation, which is now highest in Latin America.

The bolivar, named after Chavez’s 19th century hero Simon Bolivar, trades above 4,000 bolivars to the dollar on the parallel market, around double the official fixed exchange rate is 2,150 bolivars.

Chavez said he wants to alter the bills so that for example, a 1,000 bolivar note would be a one bolivar coin.

He must think that his subjects are absolutely fucking stoopid.

OK, maybe the ones who voted for him are.

Chavez is not the first head of state to do this. He won’t fool anyone outside his own borders. Merchants will simply post prices in “new” and “old” Bolivars.

Mexico periodically does these re-valuations also.

O.K. Face This: 1.- You don´t know a word about what you are talking about.
2.- We needed that currency change. We know the only change is the 3 zeroes less. This is not going to do anything with inflation.
3.- You know exactly the kind of comment Mr. Laureano Marquez did? I dare you to learn Spanish(this is the easy part),come to Republica Bolivariana de Venezuela and try to make that kind of joke about someone´s little girl.(You´ll have to push a lot for getting out that gun from your behind)
4.-A lot of Chavez followers are professional class with lots of social consciousness. Not that kind of “stoopids” you say maybe we are.Don´t trust about what TV says about us, look some other sourc …like Barbara Walters?(have you heard about her?) and slowly (very slowly,as far as I can see) your general culture will rise to a level where can understand about some complex issues like SouthAmerica and what´s going on here..and perhaps you should be able to see the mistakes and how prejudiced you USA people are about us,and perhaps even you will get deeply blurred about thinking the other USA people reading this and seeing how I put you in your place.
