RNS Quote of the Day: 07/03/07

More violent sociopaths.

We are capable of dealing with anyone. No one has died yet but that time will come.

Keith Mann of ALF, as quoted in the Evening Standard (Dec. 8, 1998)

As you’ll see at the Wiki link, Mann was sentenced in 1994 to 14 years in prison for leading a gang which, in 1991, attacked almost 700 businesses in Manchester, UK. The list of crimes also included possession of high explosives. He was released on parole on 2005 and was caught breaking into a lab shortly thereafter.

A Tangled Webb

The Seattle Leftists are currently mourning the recent discovery of the corpse of one of their own.

Mike Webb was a true “looney leftist” who had a late nite radio show on the local big AM station, 710 KIRO. I say had, because he was fired from that gig just before New Years, 2006 after getting arrested and charged with insurance fraud.

And that is where Webb’s public downfall began.

Webb got into an accident in the summer of 2006. At the scene, the only proof of insurance he was able to produce was a five-year old card from National Merit. He later produced a card from Geico, but Geico’s records showed that the policy was purchased after the accident. He went to court and was convicted.

However, Webb still insisted he was innocent and that a hacker/cracker who “hated” him had somehow broken into Geico’s computer system and changed the information.

And that is the most perfect example of how Mike Webb’s mind worked. Everything was a conspiracy to him. He was always the victim of some grand plot to bring him down. He would even refuse to let his picture be published because he was sure that someone would see what he looked like and target him for some thing or another.

It’s not surprising he was that way, looking at who he hung around with. His shows were like the most loose screw Air America radio shows, before Air America even began, except without even so much as an ounce of the sanity that Air America can generally find in a cup somewhere. The guy was truly unhinged at all times.

His favorite guests were Scott “Kiddie Diddler” Ritter and Mr. Valerie Plame, Jackass Joe Wilson. His topics ranged from how the BushMcHitlerChimpyBurton was going to put American leftists into camps and bring about the Fourth Reich to having St. Pancake Rachel Corrie’s pals the International Solidarity Movement speak of how Israel needs to be eliminated.

But it was the formal charges for insurance fraud that showed Webb’s world for what it truly was: A hell he created for himself.

After being fired he retreated into his home and would publish streaming on-line audio screeds. I could only stand to listen to a couple of them, but I could tell and I believed that Webb was going to need some serious time in a white wool coat with wrap-around arms in the very near future.

But that was not to be. In mid-April, shortly after Webb was sentenced for his crimes, he disappeared. His broadcasts stopped. His friends no longer received phone calls and no one saw him coming and going from his home. Since it is not illegal to be an adult and be a missing person, the Missing Persons report was not filed until mid-May.

The Seattle police made a cursory search of the home shortly thereafter and did the usual, by-the-book interviews. The property manager stopped by and inspected the home shortly thereafter, leaving an eviction notice on the front door as required by law. He noted that Webb’s three CPU’s were missing at that time. The monitors, keyboards and mice for each were still there, but the CPU’s were gone. Other than that, everything seemed to be as it had been whenever the manager had stopped by previously.

The summer previous, Webb’s longtime pet dog, Francis, had spent the last weeks of it’s life in the basement vomiting, deficating and urinating. The property manager had told Webb that he would be responsible for the clean-up of the mess and the treatment for the odor. This is most likely why, even with the SPD bringing out their cadaver dogs week’s earlier, Webb’s body was not discovered in the basement until late last week, when the property manager was having the basement cleaned out to get the house ready for new tenants and something wrapped in a blue tarp was discovered stuffed in a basement crawl space. A Coroner’s report concluded that the body was Webb’s and that it had been stabbed multiple times.

Of course, Webb’s fans are sure that it was some crazed right-winger who did the killing. So much so that they were blaming a local leftist who blogs about local talk radio for posting pices of Webb against his wishes, of course giving some crazed righty the ability to target Webb. This despite multiple media reports of Webb co-habitating at the home with junkies and other “sketchy looking” people who were scaring the neighbors in the normally pretty damn quite north Queen Anne neighborhood where he resided.

The guy seems to have erased the comments, but if you read the property manager’s words at the site here, you will read that the Webb conspiracy theory loving sycophants ignore all that and even start in on suspecting the property manager.

Even if he hadn’t been off the air for over 18 months, I still wouldn’t be able to miss Mike Webb. He was a lying asshole who was given way too much clout in the radio business in this town. His ability to get 20,000 people to listen to him rant at 0100 in a city of 580,000 would be commendable, except for the fact that he was broadcasting in one of craziest cities on the planet. His lies and miscontructions to fit his and his listeners need for victimhood seem to have been proven to be too much for even his gigantic ego.

Canada Prefers the Law Enforcement Approach

If you live in Canada or know someone who does, make sure to pass this along

The federal government is proposing to ease restrictions on foreign law-enforcement officers who carry weapons into Canada.

In a reciprocal agreement with the United States, the regulation would exempt officers, including police and air marshals, from a “foreign state” from having to obtain permits for side arms, according to a posting on the government’s official publication, the Canada Gazette and reported on CTV News Monday night.

The changes could mean that both domestic and foreign officers could enter and leave Canada with their weapons without having to get an import and export permit. Currently, police officers from other countries can bring weapons into Canada only in extreme circumstances, such as when accompanying a head of state on an official visit.

Yes, you read that right: A Georgia State Trooper, with the big mirrored shades, Smokey the Bear hat, the tail-light breaking nightstick and attitude overabundance has more rights to self defense in Canada than does a Canadian citizen.

Sleep tight, eh.

No It’s Not the Cover of the New Robert Ludlum Novel

…It’s my Daily Carry stuff.

This thread on the FAL Files Forums asked, “what’s in your pockets RIGHT NOW?” Luckily I answered during work hours. Some respondents professed to be surfing the ‘net in the dark of night, nude….

As a kid I loved the Ludlum and Forsyth paperback cover illustrations from the 1970s and ’80s. The typical layout elegantly conveyed international intrigue with a few chosen totems: a weapon of some sort, a scattering of exotic cash, and a passport or other document.

Really, this is about all you can carry in the pockets of dress slacks without starting to look rather odd. I can tuck my keys and Mo-Gem into my right pocket without difficulty, but if I put ’em in my left the bulge looks silly.

Don’t know what a Mo-Gem is? More about that tomorrow….

What’s Usually In My Left Pocket

From left: Digilight clone of SureFire 6P; breath mint pack for unexpected office meetings; money clip; cell phone with transparent plastic “armor;” tooled leather business-card wallet my daughter bought me at a Renaissance Faire years ago. The flashlight is worn clipped to the pocket.

He can say it much more eloquently

But the message is the same.

In papers today comes the latest Charles Krauthammer column, which will surely inspire numerous nationwide “letters to the Editor” to papers brave enough to carry the guy.

Last week I posted on how the newest government mandated fuel efficiency requirements will start up another round of dead Americans due to cutbacks in automobile safety when automakers try and meet these requirements, as happened in every example from every automaker since the first round of CAFE standards back in the 1970’s. Today is Krauthammer’s day:

Better gas milage isn’t free

The senator was vexed. The U.S. auto companies were resisting attempts by her and other Senate well-meaners to impose a radical rise in fuel efficiency by 2017. Why can’t they be more like the Chinese, she complained. Or to quote Sen. Dianne Feinstein precisely: “What the China situation, or the other countries’ situation, shows is that these automakers, in all of these countries, build the automobile that the requirements for mileage state. And they don’t fight it, they just do it.”

Yes. That is how things work in Communist Party dictatorships. It is odd to hold up China as a model of corporate-government relations. It is also poor salesmanship. Just a week after Feinstein made that statement, the Brilliance BS6 sedan — “a car with which (China) wanted to conquer Europe’s automobile market” — failed a German crash test so miserably that it might be banned from Europe, reported the European news agency AFX News. “It was the second time in less than two years that a Chinese-made car has failed the test, following the spectacular failure of the Landwind sport-utility vehicle made by Jiangling Motors 18 months ago.”

You get what you pay for. When you build lighter cars with more fuel efficiency, you know that ultimately — even with the best (let alone Chinese) technology — safety is compromised. That happened three decades ago when U.S. mileage efficiency rose dramatically in response to the oil shocks of the ’70s. It will likely happen again.

In my post I referenced what the federal government has done to the machines we all use to wash our clothes and then later in the week I posted on what the Clinton/Gore team did to your toilets back in the 1990’s.

While Krauthammer says that rate of deaths cause by automobile collisions will “likely” rise, I can guarantee you that it will. And if those that look up to Communist Dictatorships aren’t voted out of office on general principle or removed from office for endangering Americans, then it will happed again and again and again. Last week’s bill is proof positive that those elected officials care more about Mother Gaia than to you or I.

RNS Quote of the Day: 07/02/07

The last couple weeks we have seen how very little the eco-socialists value the lives of their fellow human beings, or how they actually destest their fellow humans.

This week, we’ll see how violent they are.

PeTA Vice-President, Dan Mathews was asked by Genre Magazine who he loved and why for their expose “Men We Love”

His answer:

Andrew Cunanan, because he got Versace to stop doing fur.

I’ve included the link in the quote, but for those who don’t know who Cunanan was, in 1997 he muderdered Gianni Versace in Miami Beach, FL during a murder spree that lasted three months.

Prints of Wails

The local Seattle media has been crying to anyone who will listen about Friday’s SCOTUS decision which took the race factor out of school assignments. Numerous gallons of ink have gone to bemoaning the idea that the Seattle schools will become resegregated if they cannot force black kids into schools in predominantly white neighborhoods and vice-versa.

Even more ink has gone to crying about how the “Roberts Court” has “cemented a hard shift to the right and that we’re all in danger from it, yayda, yada, yada. Just go to either The Times or the PI and enter words like “Supreme Court”, “schools” and “race” into the search boxes to get the idea of how mad they are that their favored racist policies have been put down like the diseased cow that they were. I’d link them, but damn, that’d be a lot of links.

And if I linked all of them, you might miss the one that shows just how sick the Seattle School District really was.

The guy’s name is David Engle. He was the Principle of Ballard High School when the original lawsuit that was finally decided on Friday was filed. He quit that position “in protest” of the lawsuit and he now works at a school in Bellingham, a town just south of the Canadian border.

He was interviewed by the Seattle Times over the weekend for a story out today. he said that the final resolution of the case that made him leave his favorite job in Seattle had gotten him “fired up again” on the topic.

When speaking of his time at Ballard High School, the paper mentions that

Before Ballard High ended up at the center of the lawsuit that the U.S. Supreme Court decided Thursday, David Engle thought he’d stay there until he retired.

It was his dream job, just blocks from his house, in an urban school and district facing race and class issues he wanted to tackle.

I’m sorry that Engle had to leave a job he loved, but that was his decision.

However, his want to “tackle race and class issues” made him wholly unfit for the job.

A Principle’s job is an administrative one inside the school to which they are assigned. To deal with issues between teachers, make sure that they are doing their jobs, which is to instruct students on the subject they are assigned to teach, and to make executive decisions on those assignments. It is also to hand out discipline to students who are making it difficult for the other students to learn and hand other students off to law enforcement personnel when a student breaks the law.

A Principle is not a social worker whose job it is to repair the social wrongs of generations past. He is not allowed to give or to promote giving certain preferences to certain students while withholding them from other students. Any time he does so he is stepping out of his job description and harming students.

And if he is harming a student because of his or her race, then he is violating that student’s or that group of student’s civil rights. If he cannot see this as such, he needs to find a different line of work where he can “tackle race and class issues” and stay the hell out of the public school system.

The Seattle School District already employs social workers to “tackle issues”. In fact, they employ too damn many of them, in place of actual teachers. If they fired all the social workers on the payroll and replaced each of them with a teacher, not only would the district save money, they might actually hand out diplomas that were worth the paper they were printed on.

Leave the social work to the social workers. Schools are a place where instruction is supposed to happen. The only real lessons that the Seattle School District seem to favor are those of “If you’re not white or asian you will need the government’s help or you will never succeed” and “If you are white or asian, you’re only succeeding because of priviledge” being taught in all twelve grades.

Disgusting.

View of the Samizdat

Perry de Havilland of the UK Samizdat had this to say about the attempted murder of Londoners last Friday:

I received an e-mail asking why, as many of the Samizdatistas live in London, we have not commented on the attempted mass murder by followers of Islam (also known as “the Religion of Peace”).

Well, firstly we Londoners are fairly used to people setting off bombs in this city ever since Irish terrorists started doing that in the 1800’s. The current crop of homicidal nutters trying to kill civilians happen to be less discriminating that some in the past (though please do not forget the none too discriminating Irish pub-bombers of days gone by), but in the end it is nothing we have not seen before.

And whilst I am delighted this was attempt to kill people was thwarted, it is not something that will actually have the slightest impact on my life or the lives of most Londoners. We will continue to act today much as we did yesterday. Frankly I am more worried about the pervasive threat posed to my civil liberties by Gordon Brown than the more or less random threat to my life posed by Al Qaeda.

Fully understandable. Though I would have left long ago for shores that while trending in that direction, could still be stopped from becoming a police surveillance state.

Go Granny Go

A week ago today I posted about a local Grandmother who had registered her dog to vote in protest to how easy it is for non-eligible voters (read: illegal aliens, felons, non-residents, etc.) to register to vote in King County. In the linked article, she told the reporter that she was going to plead guilty to the charges that the County had put against her, “Making a false statement to a county official”.

Jane Balogh has changed her mind.

It seems that while the county is not happy that she showed them to be incompetent dolts, and has charged her with the crime for doing so, they apparently don’t really care that she registered her dog to vote because they still have not gotten around to taking Duncan the dog off the voter rolls.

Personally, I think the county elections officials should be the ones who need to be going to jail.
