The Bitch is Back

No, you didn’t Rip Van Winkle through the election, only to find Hillary as Preznit.

I’m making a funny of sorts, quote probably a bad one. Let me explain.

Hirsi Ali gets death threats for telling the truth about the horrors of daily life for Islamic women.

No whining from her.

The editor of the Danish Mohammed cartoons, Fleming Rose, is targeted my jihadis.

No whining from him.

But let someone seem to question Bruce Springsteen’s patriotism, and the whining will never probably never end.

I think he can probably get another couple albums of material from this non-issue.

He’s gone from “The Boss” to “The Bitch”. He should go and talk to his friends at MoveOn and leave the rest of us out of it.

Crack Political Commentary

cartoon20071004.gif

No. Strike that.

It’s political commentary on crack.

This is really the best Horsey could do? Does he actually think this is what the issue is about?

He doesn’t know it, but he is right about being “Better Dead Than Red” though.

Sacre Bleu

Hang your heads low, gentlemen. France is doing what our Congress will not

France has set tough new quotas for the number of undocumented immigrants authorities should arrest and expel each month, the new immigration minister said.

Brice Hortefeux, who heads the newly created Ministry of Immigration, Integration, National Identity and Co-Development, said a monthly quota would also be set for ferreting out those employed illegally.

In a meeting with security officials Monday, Hortefeux reiterated President Nicolas Sarkozy’s goal of 25,000 expulsions by the end of 2007, and set a year-end goal of 125,000 arrests for illegal entry or illegal residence.

Now pick your heads up, and vote those pro-illegal immigration bastards out.

As Pilgrim of the Say Anything blog said, “We’ve just been out-testosteroned by France”.

The Soundboard: Pound of Sound

Week Six

First, an announcement: I’ll be gone next week, but the Pound of Sound will continue on, though there will be a genre change. Watch for it. I’m sure you’ll all enjoy.

Now, I’ve spent this week training an 18 year old, recent high school graduate on the majority of my daily tasks so that I can go on vacation. Surprisingly, she’s doing rather well. Not quite “Exceeds Expectations” but if her math skills were a bit better, she’d be right up near that level.

One of the things that surprised me was that she doesn’t listen to “The Hip-Hop”. This is a plus in my book, as 95% of the crap currently being put out in that genre is exactly that. I can’t stand to listen to it and refuse to attempt to do so. I’d have sent her packing if she had complained about the selected tunage I listen to while I’m at work.

Last night was the time I listened to today’s album and selected the tunes I’ll be posting today. When I let her know that there’d be jazz first thing off, she said “It isn’t like what (anonymous co-worker) listens to during the day, is it?”

The anonymous co-worker has broken off her radio dial at the most evil station format on the planet: Soft Jazz (aka: Just Shoot Me Music) .

I assured her the anonymous co-worker listens to shit (which is simply an abbreviation for Soft Jazz) and that nothing of that nature would ever come from a set of speakers owned by me.

Having said that, one of the lead instruments in today’s selections is an item most folks associate with music so soft it could be considered flaccid.

The Vibraphone (aka: The Vibes)

But I assure you all that there is nothing flaccid about today’s tunage.

John Patton assembled this quartet together with some very amazing foresight and they absolutely cook.

With Patton on the Hammond B3, Grant Green on Guitar, Otis Finch playing the drums and the famous Bobby Hutcherson playing his Vibraphone, one look at the cover art should tell you exactly how hot this album is.

Listen and buy. In fact, buy two, because Christmas is less than ninety days away.

The Turnaround (6:45)

I think someone was Cadillacin’ to the beach and forgot his sunscreen. Had to “turnaround” and go back and get it.

Latona (7:20)

It is as if Patton and Hutcherson were able to hook their minds together. So smooth you’d think it was (insert favorite Hollywood starlet’s name here)‘s ass.

You’ll Never Guess Who

Luurves Ann Coulter!

Teh Gheys.

At least according to this post over at celebfan site, Jezebel

This weekend I attended a small, intimate house party in Manhattan of mostly gay men in the media. I was sitting in the kitchen talking about Men’s Vogue and Lisa Kudrow’s The Comeback with my friend Mark when in walks: ANN COULTER. It was shocking to see America’s deplorable scion of extreme right-wing fanaticism pour herself a glass of wine in a casual white tank top and jeans (no black cocktail dress) and effusively greet the liberal media that she’s made a career crusading.

The gays squealed with delight. They all shelved their political beliefs and giggled to one another about the famous guest, cooing over how skinny she is and hovering around her waiting for an introduction. The “female Rush Limbaugh” was received with the fanfare normally reserved for Liza, Beyonce, and Tammy Faye (RIP). When she walked in the room, Mark turned from a typical limousine liberal to a giddy NRA fanboy.

“NRA Fanboy”?

WTF is that? I guess I’m just not as hip as I used to be.

Fallout

From western Washington residents over the SCHIP veto.

Here, in the Letters to the Editor page of the Seattle Times.

Notice, not one single letter in favor of the veto.

Or, for those to lazy to click on the link, this guy takes the prize

Since regardless of income, all children receive public education and all seniors receive Medicare, it makes no sense for any child — or adult — to be denied access to medical care. Rather than ration access by economics, reform Medicare by putting a cap on out-of-pocket expenses per family and extend Medicare to all children 18 or under by Jan. 1, 2008.

Then, after the 2008 election, extend Medicare to everyone, allowing the wealthy to purchase luxury care, just as they fly first class or by private plane. And then, instead of being somewhere between 33rd and 37th place in international public-health data, we could challenge France and Scandinavia for No. 1 in the most important ratings of all: our health.

Jerry Frankel, M.D., Marysville

Dr. Frankel’s suggestion violates his Hippocratic Oath, because it will kill more people than it helps.

Also, it seems that part of his degree is in “Lying 101”. Everyone alive has access to medical care. Frankel wants folks who read his words to think that “Access” means having it payed for too. I’d hate be a patient of his, what with his disingenuous way of speaking.
Of course, it seems he wants medicine payed for like airline tickets. I guess that since hospital food is as bad, if not worse, than airline food, his analogy has some basis in reality. But that would be about the end of it.

I’m sure that since he advocates for this dismal retreat in citizen health standards, that Dr. Frankel would never give an appointment to a patient with “Luxury Care” medical insurance. Right, Dr. Frankel? Those checks from the government that take forever to arrive and are usually short a few patients and all would be just fine for you.

Nose under the tent spotted

And it looks surprisingly (or not so surprisingly) like Hillary’s.

The SCHIP expansion bill is currently sitting on Bush’s desk, waiting for a signature that will put it on the law books or send it back to Congress.

Those that oppose the bill (such as myself) believe that it gives away too much, both to illegal aliens (which is reason enough to not like it) and to actual citizens (it covers “children up to 25 years of age” and a families that would otherwise qualify for a home loan on a house valued at $250,000).

Those that want the bill signed (like the wasteoids in the leftosphere) falsely believe that health care is the government’s job and want to get the Medicare/Medicaid camel-nose further under the tent until they can bribe voters into going whole hog on socialized medicine (though they’ll rarely admit to that and they deny that there is even a plan to do so).

Unfortunately for them, we’ve got the plans in-hand

Back in 1993, according to an internal White House staff memo, then-first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton’s staff saw federal coverage of children as a “precursor” to universal coverage.

In a section of the memo titled “Kids First,” Clinton’s staff laid out backup plans in the event the universal coverage idea failed.

And one of the key options was creating a state-run health plan for children who didn’t qualify for Medicaid but were uninsured.

That idea sounds a lot like the current State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which was eventually created by the Republican Congress in 1997.

Actually, I believe that should read “created by the Rhino Congress in 1997”.

Giving people whose income is four-times the poverty level government run heath care is disgusting.

Of course, maybe if enough people see what a pain in the ass socialized medicine is, they won’t be wanting any more of it?

I’d say they screwed their own pooch

A number of folks in the UK university community have been attempting to pass a boycott of Israel through their union.

Let me rewrite that line….

A bunch of pro-“Palestinian” do nothing college professors want their union to sever all academic ties with Israeli universities in protest of, well, the Israelis refusal to get driven into the sea.

Sadly for them, their own hyper-PC rules are keeping them from doing so

Legal advice to the union’s strategy and finance committee said a boycott call ran the risk of infringing discrimination legislation and was also considered outside the aims and objects of the union.

Sally Hunt, general secretary of the UCU, insisted the majority of the union’s 120,000 members would neither support a boycott call nor regard it as a priority. She said last night: “I hope this decision will allow all to move forwards and focus on what is our primary objective, the representation of our members.”

However, Sue Blackwell, a member of the union’s executive and of the British Committee for the Universities of Palestine, said of the decision: “It is quite ridiculous. It is cowardice. It is outrageous and an attack on academic freedom.”

Ahh, yes! That academic freedom to fund those that demand the death of the only democracy in the region. I haven’t heard that call for a good long time.

Getting ahead of themselves

The local mass transit affectionados are gearing up their campaign to try and convince the citizenry that a humongous tax increase that would last a minimum of 30 years and cost upwards of $157 Billion and would pay for nearly no mass transit in the form of light rail and wouldn’t be done until for 50 years.

However, I think they’re putting the cart before the horse on this one after reading this

Jim Portillo walks in the roadway, just a few feet from passing cars, because there are no sidewalks along his Greenwood street. Portillo, 31, is blind.

Sweeping the area ahead left to right with a white cane, he avoids the roadway’s gravel shoulder — if it exists at all — because ditches or parked cars frequently interrupt the path.

He shrugs and says he’s been dealing with the danger for five years.

“There’s not a lot of room between me and traffic,” he says. “Every now and then you wonder about some drivers.”

Forty percent of Seattle streets lack full sidewalks on both sides of the road — totaling 650 miles, the city estimates.

In a city that doesn’t have a sidewalk on over one-third of the streets, putting in a few miles of light rail seems, to me anyway, a mismanagement of the city infrastructure dollars.

Oh wait, the light rail they’re currently putting in, was mostly funded by you folks who AREN’T in Washington through the grant our senior Senator, Patty “Osama bin Laden Builds Daycares” Murray, who just so happens to run the Senate Transportation Committee.

So, even though I’ll ever ride the damn thing, I guess thanks are in order.
