And I’m Off

I’ll be heading north today on a very large boat that looks almost exactly like this

Da Boat.JPG

I’ll not be gone forever and you’ll have to put up with me again after this weekend.

Whilst I am away, our good man David has full reign of the site and has been writing like crazy to come up with a bunch of very cool posts for y’all.

In the meantime, wish me some good weather for the week and I’ll wish you a freestanding Representative Republic until I return.

I’ve got a few of “Posts to Remember Me By” below this one today, in case I become overrun with pirates along the Inside Passage.

I’ll have tunage up for The SoundBoard on Thursday, but until then, I think this song will be accurate for me, since all opinions will be hung on the life preserver as I pass it upon entry.

I’m not talkin’ – Mose Allison

Which I’m sure will make all involved quite happy. Just a couple of good books, 4GB of tunage on the MP3 player and a few beers (a day).

And, if she can cash the check her mouth’s been writing, this one’ll be The Wife

Tequila – Stan Kenton

Margaritas, my good friends.

Have a good week and be good to each other. Let’s all be adults and I’ll see you later.

My New Racist Government Supplied Vehicle Tag

Last week I opened up the comments for suggestions as to what I should have printed on the personalized license plate I’m ordering for Buddy the Jeep.

Lots of suggestions, 40+ rolled in, and they all pretty much kicked ass. Some where quite blatant, others had meanings “hidden” to everyone but Gunnies. There were even a couple calls to leave it Plain Jane so as to not attract attention. Unfortunately, that is not really possible after I went and put stickers such as this, this and this on the back.

First, I should tell you that during the last week, a couple more ideas came to me as I went through the suggestions:

DBCOOPR was taken, ORDNANC was not, but just didn’t feel right, and DRGNASS was deemed offensive.

I tried every combination of Molon Labe that I could think of, even going so far as to research which vowels were dominant in the original Greek and finding that exact combination already taken.

Lastly, I was worried that the Punks (not dead) would misunderstand BLAKFLG.

Next up, I think I need to tell you that I did not actually pick any of the suggestions, but I am very, very thankful that I asked and that people responded because the combination of a couple of them reminded me of something I learned in the distant past that actually did become my selection.

As you all know, I have made some very unhappy local left-wing stalkers on this here interweb, and as such, I cannot tell you the exact spelling of my new plate. Moonbats can call in plates just as easily as anyone else, and sooner or later they’re going to get some room-temp IQ’d gov’t employee who will give up the info.

Since the age of 10, I have been one of ZZTop’s biggest fans. If they sang more about liberty and self-determination and less about drinking and whores, they’d be the RNS House Band all week instead of just on the weekends.

In 1979, they put out an album titled Deguello. Kick ass album. If you don’t already own it, click on the link and buy it today.

When I was entering Junior High School and started taking foreign language classes, I was, of course, offered Spanish. Being 12 years old and more curious than yellow, I thought this a perfect time to try and ascertain what Deguello meant.

Bad idea.

The Spanish teacher recoiled in horror that someone my age would ask such a thing and, while a visit to the administrators office did not follow, it was clear that I shouldn’t ask that again.

But because I am a persistent ass, after changing school districts, entering high school and turning 16, I found the Spanish teacher again and asked. This time I was met by a roll of the eyes and told where to look in the County Library (not the school library, oddly enough).

Nowadays we have the internet and I can just provide a link here and here where you’ll find this

El Degüello is a bugle call of Moorish origin notable in its use by the Mexican Army during the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. According to James A. Michener’s book Texas, the original meaning of the Degüello call was an appeal to an enemy to surrender or else they would die by the sword. General Antonio López de Santa Anna of the Mexican Army used it to signify that no quarter would be given to the enemy.

According to various English-Spanish dictionaries, El Degüello means no mercy. The literal translation is slit-throat. Michener’s book translates it as The Beheading.

I believe that I now have everyone I want pissed off covered in just one word: Illegals-check. Jihadis-check. Statists-check.

Of course, the Jihadis and Statists might not know what it means, but you and I do and that is good enough for me.

Btw, if you live in the Midwest and want to be cool like me, you can bid on this. If it was within 200 miles of me, I would.

Thanks again for the help, everyone. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Remember the Alamo. Return the favor.

Is it really that surprising?

Actually, yes, it was to me.

I’ve posted recently about the Oregon teacher with the court-issued restraining order against an ex, who went through the training and gained her CCW, but is now blocked by her employer, the government, from using her pistol and her training to protect herself.

I don’t know what made them write about the topic of restraining orders, but someone at the Seattle Times was on the ball this weekend and congratulations are in order.

The Seattle woman figured she’d have no problem securing a protection order against a man who had ignored her repeated requests to be left alone.

It was early April, just days after University of Washington employee Rebecca Griego was shot to death at work by an obsessive ex-boyfriend who had been stalking her despite a protection order.

Given the media coverage of the Griego slaying, the Seattle woman thought her situation would get quick attention.

She wrote a detailed account of the man’s dozens of unsolicited e-mails and unwanted advances. She went before a judge, who quickly signed the temporary order for protection — a precursor to a permanent protection order.

Yet it took nearly a week and a string of phone calls by the woman and a family lawyer before the order was delivered to her accused stalker by King County sheriff’s deputies. The delays left the woman feeling vulnerable and unprotected.

And she was lucky. For others in the same situation, it can take much longer — often, orders are never served at all.

In Seattle last year, only 58 percent of the 1,076 temporary domestic-violence orders sent to the Police Department were successfully served. There are various reasons for the delays and difficulties in issuing protection orders, depending on whom you ask. Police say they are as diligent as possible with the dozens of weekly orders that must be delivered, often to bad addresses or to respondents who don’t want to be found. Court personnel say some law-enforcement agencies are simply better than others about following through.

Whatever the reasons, people like the Seattle woman say the system isn’t running smoothly and is leaving those seeking help frightened, frustrated and exposed.

First of all, if there weren’t so many women who were demanding that a court issued piece of paper “protect them, then this problem wouldn’t be overwhelming the local policing agencies.

That may sound a bit harsh, but since the SCOTUS has ruled that the government has no responsibility for your safety, the cops could simply choose to round-file these orders and there would be nothing but public opinion mongering that could be done about it.

In fact, sometimes I wonder if that would be the best solution to this whole situation. Cut the reliance on the state/county/city for your protection, and all but the most apathetic self-loathers will do something for themselves for once. Give a generation of young women the knowledge that life is not like the movies and that the police won’t babysit you when you make a horrible choice as to whom you become friends with, and creeps will die out, because women will be killing them. As they should.

But that is probably really harsh and possibly overly relies on people to take more action than to whine to the press about how they can’t live their lives without consequence.

So let the government whose only reason for helping you stay alive is so that it may tax you keep issuing their useless pieces of paper. And let those who decide they don’t want to know any better keep relying on them and the consciences of the employees in the policing agencies.

Myself, I’ll just use the orders for what they’re supposed to be used for: Showing the prior intent of the sonofabitch who I filed the order on and still had to shoot.

Strange Items from the State of Oregon

So, the other day a co-worker was looking for a used tractor and asked me if I could look though my auction sites to see if anything was up for sale. I agreed and started looking though the list of local places.

As I’m swinging through the State of Oregon’s eBay site I see that they’ve gotten their most recent shipment from PDX (Portland Int’l Airport)

If’n you’re looking for a lot or two of knives, you should looksee here and here. These are what the PDX TSA take from travelers who forget what is in their pockets before they enter “PDX Security Theater”.

The State of Washington has the same deal, but you have to go to their central depot and go through the bins every other week. When I go through Canuck Customs later today, I’ll have to had remembered to dump anything shiny or sharp before I leave the house. Last time, my Gerber PocketTool attracted attention because the one knife blade locked.

My recently purchased SwissTool has two locking blades and may just cause them to shut the terminal down.

Another couple auctions that caught my attention were this one and this one.

Please, take a moment and take a look at those. They are also for sale by the State of Oregon.

Now, you know and I know what the state did to the inanimate tools that used to be connected to those pieces of wood. Someone, preferably an Oregon resident, needs to call the state and ask them why they felt the need to do that.

All you M1 Carbine lovers will notice at least two stocks. One is possibly off a Universal/Ivar Johnson model, but the other is vintage. I also see a Remingon 700 BDL short action, a Rem 700 ADL long action, a Mini-14, at least two 10-22’s, another two Winchester 94’s, a Winchester 1897 12ga and a half dozen stocks from .22LR bolties, with at least one of them being a single shot.

Somebody needs to explain.

According to the Brady Bunch

Only professional Policing Agents should be allowed to have firearms.

An off-duty sheriff’s deputy went on a shooting rampage early Sunday at a home where seven young people had gathered for pizza and movies, killing six and critically injuring the other before authorities fatally shot him, officials said.

The gunman, Tyler Peterson, 20, worked full time as a Forest County deputy sheriff and part time as a Crandon police officer, said Police Chief John Dennee.

Three of the victims were students at the small town’s high school, and three were recent graduates, a school official said.

The murderer had “Jealousy Issues”. Most likely because he was human.

At least, he was human until he decided he needed to kill people in order deal with his “Issues”.

Video Sunday

If only people would refuse to take it.

You’d think they’re handing it out at the door at the rallys.

Lawmaker insults and assaults CBS reporter asking about the Congresswoman’s $2 Million dollar earmark benefiting Sherwin WilliamsSee if you can spot the “hate speech” taking place in front of the anti-“hate speech” sign in this video

Btw, this speaker is, unsurprisingly, an instructor at UCLA.

No, he doesn’t thank you Californian taxpayers for his salary.

Sunday Reading Material

The American Digest blog has posted up how the Code of the West has now become The Code of the Left, with comparisons of each.

Needless to say, this change is not an “Upgrade”.

A couple of examples:

Never steal another man’s horse. A horse thief pays with his life.

Always look to steal another man’s money with a “tax.” Always ask your fellow citizen to reach for his wallet. All tax thieves are rewarded with a fat government pension and fatter health plan.

And

Remove your guns before sitting at the dining table.

Ban guns. Anytime, anywhere. The Second Amendment is a misprint. Erase it in the original. Burn all copies.

I’d be funny if it weren’t true.

In Memorium: The Booty Eulogies

Despite what you Americans may think, the women of Canada have ways of keeping our men warm. This was why John Thomas Booty loved to visit Vancouver during the winters.

E14.jpg

Phil mentioned that he would be passing by Vancouver this week and I begged him to visit so that we could have a drink and reminisce about our good friend, but he deemed that a bad idea.

I don’t know why, it’s close enough to winter.

Either way, I will always be thankful to him for remembering John Thomas in this way, just as I will always be grateful to have known John for the time I was allowed.
