In Memorium: The Booty Eulogies

Whenever John Thomas would visit The Carolinas I would make his very fond aquaintance.

Who would have thought that he’d be the focus of an international conspiracy to increase the size of communist women’s posteriors?

Which is why I always make sure to show my American posterior proudly whenever I’m at the beach. Made in America.

Today’s Activity

When The Wife gets home from work this morning, we’re going to take care of an itch she’s been scratching for a couple months now.

She wants a new (to her) car.

The clock on her current car is running down and I’ve never really liked it since it is a compact-sized point and squirt FWD machine. However, the price was definitely right seven years ago and she has gotten her money’s worth (and then some) from the thing.

We’ve picked a local dealership to peruse for our selection. I used to deride the soullessness of the mega-dealerships, but their buying power is undeniable, and if they don’t have it, they find it. The Wife has her eye on an Exploder, but it has too many miles for my liking, even if they drop the price by 10%. Plus, that is not exactly the car I see her liking to drive, but the more I try and push her away from it, the more she wants it. Apparently, letting her drive Buddy has given her the idea that sitting up higher makes for safer driving (Doh!). So we’ll see. It’s a few hours before we even head out and I’m already prepped to walk away from any deal, which is the first item needed in any successful negotiation.

So this morning, picture me trying to run a salesman as close to the red as I can on the day after Black Friday.

And since we’re on the subject, take a looksee at this early 60’s machine and tell me what it is.

Since it is the long weekend

When y’all get a chance, stop for a moment and read up on this old link I found in My Bookmarks, where Michael Cannon gets into the numbers on just how socialized our medicine already is.

Congressional Democrats are trying to expand government health insurance to children who don’t need public assistance, while their party’s presidential hopefuls are concocting even grander schemes to achieve “universal coverage.”

“That’s socialized medicine!” cry the Republicans. President Bush asks whether we want a government-run health care system or a private system. Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani accuses Democrats for lusting after the socialized systems of Europe, Canada, and Cuba. In a recent television appearance, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) emphatically denied the suggestion that she supports socialized medicine.

Was Clinton being disingenuous, or are Democrats really trying to foist socialized medicine on the American people?

The question seems silly once you consider how socialized our health care system already is. Government already finances about half of Americans’ medical care, so you might say our system is already half-socialized. Yet we are much farther along the road to socialized medicine than even that would suggest.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

A day late

But most of y’all weren’t here yesterday anyway.

One of the many things I am Thankful for, beside my Wife and family, our men and women, both currently in and out of, harms way, and David for kickin’ ass while the sun shines despite having a job that keeps him busier than a two-peckered billy-goat, is that there are well spoken men on our side of the fight who can speak as eloquently as Christopher Hitchens does to Chris Hedges, former MidEast Bureau Chief for the NYT (and now writer at The Nation) who repeatedly justifies the murder of civilians and US soldiers by suicide bombers and finds moral equivalence between the jihadis and American Capitalism.

Video found at the AoSHQ

If you don’t have time for the whole thing, just watch the last 80 seconds for a put-down equivalent to a bullet behind the ear, which is about the farthest stage I can achieve when people who believe what Hedges believes start talking.

Thanksgiving — The Perfect Anti-Communist History Lesson

John Stossel gets it exactly right:

When the Pilgrims first settled the Plymouth Colony, they organized their farm economy along communal lines. The goal was to share everything equally, work and produce.

They nearly all starved.

… [to fix this], [t]he people of Plymouth moved from socialism to private farming. The results were dramatic….

Because of the change, the first Thanksgiving could be held in November 1623.

Read the Whole Thing. Then be sure to point out this little history lesson when you’re carving the bird, or whatever you may do in your family’s Thanksgiving celebrations.

Happy Thanksgiving!  [and for my wife] Go Colts!

And this guy wants to be President?

The AoSHQ posts this tale of how the Massachusetts government run healthcare scheme is, ooopsie, gonna go overbudget in it’s first year.

It’s just $147 Million over budget. Not all that much.

Oh, wait. There are nations whose GDP is less than that.

Well all y’all out there in Massa-two-shits, open up yer wallets and vote for Mitt in 08 if you like that bent over feeling.

I was happy to see

That the SCOTUS took Heller.

I thank David for posting it as I was under the influence of the Sandman when the news broke.

Hopefully it will end up that I have a reason to be thankful for that tomorrow.

Unfortunately, this guy is also happy the SCOTUS took Heller.

Paul Helmke: The Most Significant Second Amendment Case In History

Last March, the District of Columbia saw judicial activism replace the will of the people.

Today, with news that the U.S. Supreme Court has taken the appeal of DC v. Heller, the Justices can set things right.

Over 30 years ago, the elected representatives on the DC City Council decided to enact a system of strict gun laws to help protect public safety. The people in DC strongly support these laws. The District’s police strongly favor them as well.

The District’s decision has been attacked over and over again by outside interests more concerned with pleasing the gun lobby than respecting the will of the people. Some in Congress have tried multiple times to overrule the District’s preference for strict gun regulations, but have failed each time.

In case you hadn’t yet guessed or didn’t recognize the name, Helmke is President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership.

He is hoping that his misinterpretation of the 2nd Amendment will be vindicated by the SCOTUS in the upcoming months. Mr. Helmke and his sycophantic, gun bigot fellow travelers have killed more people with firearms than any street gang known to history with their pushing the restriction of law abiding citizens to own a tool for their own protection.

And he wants this policy to be law.

Personally, I don’t know how a person can count themselves as a human, and/or a Supreme Court Justice, if they do not believe in the basic human right of self defense.

Heller’s On, Baby!

Will the 2008 term will be the Term of the Heller Decision as far as the Supreme Court is concerned? In a word, Yes! The Order is here.
The Court records the oral arguments, these days. Can’t wait to hear this one!

In my dreams, there’s this bit:

JUSTICE THOMAS: Counsel, what would be the result if this Court were to rule that the Second Amendment does not protect an individual right to keep and bear arms?

ATTORNEY: Uh, your Honor, I believe such a decision would have… unintended consequences.

Album of the Year

Yes, I said it.

I’m nominating The Dethalbum for Album of the Year.

dethklok.jpg
Clearly the best Metal album in the last 4 years, maybe more.

Don’t screw around, hit the above link and buy this today. Don’t waste your time, just get the blood red covered 2-Disc edition.

Rock music over the last half-decade has become the decaying carcass of an Myrmecophaga Tridactyla (aka: The Giant Anteater).

It’s dead and it sucks.

One of the things I discovered while on vacation with “The Fam” in Spokane was who the fuck keeps buying Nicklsback’s records (shiver). Answer, my brother-in-law.

If I can’t stand the song without the video playing (i.e. “Rockstar”) the song is teh suck. And that is the best tune that amalgamation has put out.

Ozzfest has become a waste of time and energy to even type the name.

I’d say the reason fools keep buying the mass marketed shit in plastic has to be the soft bigotry of low expectations, but that is just simply putting it too kindly.

This album kicks your fucking ass. I’m listening to it right fuckin’ now and I’m nearly positive the disc is gonna jump out of the CD rack and cut my gotdam head off if I try and reach for the pause button.

You load this sumbitch into your MP3 player and it’ll straight up start erasing all your other tunes and copying itself until it has total domination.

This is the album you knew your favorite metal band from the past had in them but they didn’t have the balls to put out.

I’m not even going to post a song from the album. And you don’t want me too because if you downloaded it it’d anally rape your hard drive until it logged you buying a dozen copies of the album and then email of all your porn to your mom.

Seriously man, buy this damn album. Shit, the CD jewel has my 1911 and is pointing it at me. Buy the album!

The last phrase you ever want to hear

“We’re from the government and we’re here to help you.”

That is what Bostonians are hearing this week

Police to search for guns in homes

Boston police are launching a program that will call upon parents in high-crime neighborhoods to allow detectives into their homes, without a warrant, to search for guns in their children’s bedrooms.

The program, which is already raising questions about civil liberties, is based on the premise that parents are so fearful of gun violence and the possibility that their own teenagers will be caught up in it that they will turn to police for help, even in their own households.

In the next two weeks, Boston police officers who are assigned to schools will begin going to homes where they believe teenagers might have guns. The officers will travel in groups of three, dress in plainclothes to avoid attracting negative attention, and ask the teenager’s parent or legal guardian for permission to search. If the parents say no, police said, the officers will leave.

If officers find a gun, police said, they will not charge the teenager with unlawful gun possession, unless the firearm is linked to a shooting or homicide.

“Mr. policeman, come search my child’s room, because I am afraid to.”

First the parents gave up the teaching of their children to the public school system. Then they gave up feeding their children, to the same system.

Now they’re turning the living area of their child, who is taught and fed by a stranger, over to another government agency.

Funny how much someone must truly despise their former “Pride and Joy” to give this much up.
