Apparently

There was a meeting of Hollywood socialistas last night. I kept seeing two people arguing about which one of them was more willing to buy people’s votes with bad healthcare proposals and surrender ground to jihadis the fastest.

I only knew it was Hollywood because when I first turned it on I thought the Oscars had come early due to all the audience shots.

After a little bit of that I got tired of trying to convince myself that said discussion was not actually going on in the US and turned the tube off and opened up my emails.

Co-worker Paul sent this link to a Field and Stream article on what can happen when Montana game Wardens attempt to release a Grizzly Bear back into the wild.

Talk about your “workman’s comp” injuries.

Make sure you click through all the pics. Though you can’t see his face, in picture #22 I can tell that the warden is thinking “I’ll keep you perfectly clean and never sell you” to his S&W Model 66.

And once those have struck you, give these “Great White Sharks eating Seals” ones a click through.

What was that

About Global Warming? (cricketts)

Joe has a the trials and tribulations of his wife’s trip across Washington’s I-90 mountain pass at Snoqualmie. Picture five hours in white out conditions waiting for the plows to clear an avalanche.

I particularly want to point this one out of his trip across just prior to hers.
Othello.jpg

I drove through here with David on our way back from Boomershoot last year and removing the snow only gives textures from the plowed rows. (David, this was about 10 minutes before our second pitstop).

The Seattle Times has this story about the white fluffy stuff that talks about how this is keeping people from their destinations.

This line is key

Nearby, Casey Graham, 50, drove a large grader up and down the road, pushing aside several feet of snow.

Graham, who has worked for WSDOT for 20 years, said it’s the worst snow he’s ever seen at the pass. He started work at 6:30 a.m., his second straight day with a 12-hour shift. But he was in good spirits.

At $60+ an hour to push snow, I’d be in good spirits too.

And what is up with those crickets?

Mysteriously Quiet

Yesterday, “Baghdad Jim” McDermott finally gave John Boehner (R-OH) the money he owes him for releasing an illegally taped cell phone conversation between Boehner and Newt Gingrich to the press.

Local leftists are, rather oddly, not speaking a word about it. I say oddly because they were always saying that McDermott had some strange 1st Amendment right to release the tape, and I expected some wailing a gnashing of teeth about how “the right crushed the freedom of speech” or some stupid statement along those lines.

But I now I’m guessing that they have realized just how stupid they sounded with that argument.

—————-

In other local leftist news, bigwig Seattle blogger Goldy of HorsesAss.Org got canned from his weekend radio show host gig at local KIRO.

One of the first bloggers in the nation who actually got a shot to go mainstream, Goldy’s shows were self described “Leftist Propaganda” for three hours each Saturday and Sunday night. National station owners Bonneville have traded him in for crappy taped shows and re-runs of nationally syndicated shows.

The guy lets all of his readers know about it here, and even offers a chance for folks like me to gloat about it.

Being above that, I offer my post. Don Ward of blog Sound Politics, HorsesAss’ equal from the other side of the aisle, offers his respectful condolences here.

Local fake organization Northwest Progressive Institute even put out a cattle call for letters to the station at the dKos Animal Farm and Petting Zoo.

Despite his show being honestly and truly leftist propaganda, it was live and local and a loss like that that is always a loss for the community. The guy was pulling on some great guests, which made for good “yelling at the radio” radio.

But I believe that that is only really part of the reason the local libs are up in arms. The other part is that now, in hyper-left Seattle, the only real, mainstream live and local talk radio is from the righttalkers at KVI. Or as the liberals like to label it “KKKVI”.

Useful Knowledge being taught in schools again?

Caleb at Call Me Ahab points to an article outlining a bill that would have Hunters Education/Firearms Safety classes taught in West Virginia schools.

A significant drop in the number of hunters in West Virginia has left multimillion dollar holes in the state’s budget and one lawmaker thinks he has the solution: allow children to receive hunter training in school.

Children would be instructed in everything from survival skills to gun safety, but the guns would either have dummy ammunition or be disabled in some way. Sen. Billy Wayne Bailey, who introduced the bill, doesn’t envision West Virginia’s middle-schoolers firing real guns during class time.”It’s a way to take this kind of education in the classroom and make it more convenient for young people,” the Wyoming County Democrat said.

But what current member of a teacher’s union that could find the “muzzle” on a firearm?

OK, maybe in West Virginia they could find a few, but the tri-county area of western Washington it would most likely mean new hires.

Really?

I put a foot onto Oliver Willis’ (Occupation:Toole) place and found that RedState is putting some rules down that make no sense tome

What is not fine, okay, or within the bounds of the rules, is to use Latino names as an insult. We are speaking, specifically, of “Jorge Arbusto” and “Juan McCain,” although it’s certainly possible that others are floating out there or may yet be invented. Allow me to clue anyone who thinks these names are funny or clever in to something: racism isn’t clever or funny. If you think you’ve really zinged someone by calling them by a Latino name, that’s a pretty reliable (nearly infallible, in fact) indicator that you don’t like Latino people.

Calling my co-worker, George, ”Jorge” is racist? Does that same rule follow for calling Jeff “Jefe”?

Normally I just write the initials of the phrase out, but this actually calls for the full “What The Fuck?”

How, and I mean specifically, is that racist? Does that mean that my junior high and high school foreign language teachers were racists? And if so, shouldn’t they be booted out of the teachers unions for it?

Is it still OK to call guys named Pat “Patty” or is that sexist now?

Talk about the Pussification of the Western Male. Jezzus.

Update

Per my question in yesterday’s post about the city of Berzerkley versus the USMC, apparently we do not have a Solomon Amendment type of law that regulates spending to cities.

But we do have people with balls enough to call them out

This is a slap in the face to all brave service men and women and their families. The First Amendment gives the City of Berkeley the right to be idiotic, but from now on they should do it with their own money. If the city can’t show respect for the Marines that have fought, bled and died for their freedom, Berkeley should not be receiving special taxpayer funded handouts. I am currently drafting legislation to ensure that American taxpayers aren’t forced to pay for this insult by rescinding all of the earmarks for Berkeley in the Omnibus Appropriations bill, and to transfer the funds to the Marine Corps.

Michelle Malkin has the rest, plus a letter from the American Legion on the same topic

The Soundboard: From the Garage

Got an EP CD in the mail a few weeks back from someone you know.

I gave it a spin. In the Jeep. In the truck. On the computer. In the home theater.

It rocks. Thought you might like to hear it.

The band’s name is TruckeR and they’re out of Boston.

I’ll supply you with the opening track of their EP and you can click the above link to download the rest.

The Last Word – TruckeR

Don’t miss this.

Oh, and five million-billion “Stimulus Ribbate” points goes to the person who can guess which blogger/RNS reader sent the EP to me. The points are worth anything, but neither is the “Ribbate”.

Check back tomorrow for the uppy-datey, if no one gets it.

UPDATE: I have been informed that the tunage may be mixed a bit heavy on the bottom end. I pretty much only listen to tunage that is mixed heavy on the bottom end, so I didn’t notice other than I liked the rhythm section. Fair Warning.

Walter Williams on the “Stimulus Ribbate”

It’s like taking a bucket of water from the deep end of a pool and dumping it into the shallow end. Funny thing—the water in the shallow end doesn’t get any deeper.

You can play at home

Name that Party!

A ward superintendent handpicked by the City Council’s 80-year-old elder statesman, Ald. Bernard Stone (50th), was arrested Monday and charged–along with another man–with improperly steering primarily Indian and Pakistani voters toward absentee ballots for Stone.

Anish Eapen, a 37-year-old employee of the city’s Department of Streets and Sanitation, faces two counts of official misconduct, three counts of absentee ballot fraud and one count of mutilation of election materials. He allegedly worked in tandem with 34-year-old Armando Ramos, an unemployed student. Ramos faces two counts of absentee ballot fraud and two counts of mutilation of election materials.

Now, this IS out of Chicago, and most politically savvy folks think “Democrat” when they think Chicago. But nowhere in this article is it mentioned that Alderman Stone is a Democrat.

Stone stands by and praises his pick for Ward Superintendant

Stone defended Eapen as an “honest and fair person” and “one of the best” ward superintendents in the city, adding, “Nobody has ever accused him of wrongdoing and I don’t believe any charge of wrongdoing will ever be substantiated against Anish Eapen. These are trumped-up charges.”

Stone even goes so far as to accuse A US Representative of engaging in a witchhunt against him and his people.

Stone angrily denied that his campaign engaged in absentee ballot fraud. He accused the state’s attorney’s office of engaging in a political witch hunt at the behest of U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Il.) Schakowsky denied she had instituted the investigation.

Notice that they marked Schakowsky as a Democrat there, but still nowhere in the entire 10 paragraphs of the story do they mention Stone’s affiliation.

But that is why we have Wikipedia

Ahh, Yes

Those freedom loving eco-socialists.

Perusing the deluge of overheated press releases from the CES conference a few weeks ago, one in particular, for Panasonic’s new line of EVOLTA batteries, got me thinking. And when I say “thinking,” I mean muttering curse words and shaking my fist. The release made a big deal about the fact that these new batteries last from 1.3 to 2 times as long as other alkaline batteries—which is to say, slightly less poisonous and wasteful, but not much. Whoopdee-flipping-doo.Now I’m going to make a sweeping pronouncement, a real doozy. Are you ready? Here goes: Disposable batteries, no matter how efficient, should be considered a controlled substance and, as such, should be sold under the same restrictions as, say, prescription drugs or guns.

Yes, you can leave your “Assault & Battery” jokes in the comments.

The guy has some decent ideas later in the article that could easily be worked into the free market by businesses such as Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, etc., to see if they’re workable. But this guy wants government mandates and fines.

What happened in these people’s childhoods that led them to believe that more government regulation is a good thing?

I’ve got $20 on “Drops on the head”.

You can leave your answers to that question in the comments as well.
