Mysteriously Quiet

Yesterday, “Baghdad Jim” McDermott finally gave John Boehner (R-OH) the money he owes him for releasing an illegally taped cell phone conversation between Boehner and Newt Gingrich to the press.

Local leftists are, rather oddly, not speaking a word about it. I say oddly because they were always saying that McDermott had some strange 1st Amendment right to release the tape, and I expected some wailing a gnashing of teeth about how “the right crushed the freedom of speech” or some stupid statement along those lines.

But I now I’m guessing that they have realized just how stupid they sounded with that argument.

In other local leftist news, bigwig Seattle blogger Goldy of HorsesAss.Org got canned from his weekend radio show host gig at local KIRO.

One of the first bloggers in the nation who actually got a shot to go mainstream, Goldy’s shows were self described “Leftist Propaganda” for three hours each Saturday and Sunday night. National station owners Bonneville have traded him in for crappy taped shows and re-runs of nationally syndicated shows.

The guy lets all of his readers know about it here, and even offers a chance for folks like me to gloat about it.

Being above that, I offer my post. Don Ward of blog Sound Politics, HorsesAss’ equal from the other side of the aisle, offers his respectful condolences here.

Local fake organization Northwest Progressive Institute even put out a cattle call for letters to the station at the dKos Animal Farm and Petting Zoo.

Despite his show being honestly and truly leftist propaganda, it was live and local and a loss like that that is always a loss for the community. The guy was pulling on some great guests, which made for good “yelling at the radio” radio.

But I believe that that is only really part of the reason the local libs are up in arms. The other part is that now, in hyper-left Seattle, the only real, mainstream live and local talk radio is from the righttalkers at KVI. Or as the liberals like to label it “KKKVI”.
