We have nine Justices on the SCOTUS because not everyone can leave their “life experiences” at the door and hand down a fair ruling. Sadly, it looks as though we’re going to get one who prefers to apply said experiences to everything stuffed down our collective gullets.

When a judge treats a constitutional right as non-fundamental–yet cites no legal authority, and does not even acknowledge that the issue has been raised on appeal–it raises the possibility that the judge may be hostile to that right.

Who take responsibility for their own safety

The New Bethel Church in Louisville, KY

In Celebration of July 4 and our rights as Americans, New Bethel Church will be hosting an OPEN CELEBRATION CHURCH service for all who support 1st and 2nd Amendment rights. It will be held on Saturday June 27th, the weekend before July 4th. It will begin at 5PM and picnic food will be served. We are asking responsible handgun owners to attend this service openly wearing their sidearm. This will be a Cold Range Carry meaning handguns must be unloaded and in a secure holster.

Area gun store/firing range owners will be invited to attend and tell about their services. There will be patriotic music and short presentation concerning responsible gun ownership and 2nd Amendment rights.

There will also be a raffle to win a handgun. All that is asked is that you bring a sidearm, a friend who has a sidearm and a canned good for local food bank.

Oddly enough, I found this at a batshit crazy leftist blog. They were, of course, mocking New Bethel’s appreciation of both the First and Second amendments. Those don’t matter to the left. To them, the First means freedom from religion and the Second means the National Guard.

The reason

For the Stimupalooza was that giving the money back to the citizens would be “wasteful” because we don’t know “how” to properly spend it.

And anyone who disagreed was just a bitter clinger.

Biden says some waste inevitable part of stimulus

Vice President Joe Biden acknowledged on Tuesday that some waste is inevitable in the spending of a $787 billion economic stimulus package, in a characteristically blunt assessment.

“We know some of this money is going to be wasted,” Biden said during a roundtable discussion in New York with business leaders aimed at promoting the two-year stimulus plan.

The package was approved by the Democratic-led Congress in February over the objections of most Republicans, who were concerned about the potential for wasteful spending and because it will add billions of dollars to U.S. deficit spending.

Giving every citizen $10,000 to put in a jar and bury it in their backyard would have been a smarter idea.

It is all wrong.

Jude Law as Watson I can tolerate.

But Downey Jr.’s Holmes is simply not acceptable in any way. Too young, too short, wrong build, wrong accent.

I am of the opinion that Doyle would have sued.

I’m going to have to see it (at least on video, followed by hours of Brett and Hardwicke), so why can’t they at the very least make it watchable?

Yet the central problem in the Golden State–the disorder that affects every aspect of state government–can be described very simply: The political class in Sacramento believes the people of California exist for the state government, not the other way around.

Two! Two!

Two standards in one!

Two lone nuts goes off within hours of each other, in separate locations and each kill their intended victim.

One victim was a doctor, the other was a soldier.

As of midnight PST, between Americablog, CrooksAndLiars blog, the FireDogLake blog and HorsesAss blog there were 35 posts on the doctor’s murder.

Anyone want to venture a guess on how many posts those four high profile blogs had up about the soldier’s murder?

If you guessed ZERO, you are correct.

Between Olbermann and Maddow, damn near one hour of television was devoted to the doctors murder. Zero minutes were devoted to the soldier.

Right-leaning blogs, right-leaning radio and FOX News were listed as the sole and direct reasons for the doctors murder. Obviously, since no one on the left bothered talking about it, there were no reasons discussed about the soldier’s murder. Olbermann even went so far as to demand that FOX News be “quarantined” from American media so as to not infect the populace.

So, if the people who protested in attorney John Yoo’s driveway turn violent, or someone sexually assaults one of the women on this list of conservative females, or someone who signed Washington’s Referendum 41, which calls for the repeal of the recently expanded Domestic Partnership laws, is attacked because a gay rights group published their name, I’m sure that all of the above mentioned blogs and media will immediately lay blame on themselves and their political cohorts, right?

And before some leftard wanders on into our green, green pastures and tries to imply that I’m a supporter of the murder of Dr. Tiller, let me just say this: Roeder was a felon and was no longer allowed to possess, let alone purchase, a firearm. Which means that someone had to give him the weapon he used to kill Tiller.

If this person is found, and is discovered to have known about sincere hatred of Tiller and of Roeder’s felon status, then the El Dorado Prison should get a pair of injection tables and needle sets ready.

And the same goes for any accomplices to the jailhouse Islamic convert who shot the soldiers in front of the recruitment center.

You see, here at RNS, we believe that only one standard is plenty.

Boomershoot Picture of the Day No. 2: Weekend Project

Boomershoot Cleanup 2007.jpgThis is another of Dave the RNS Staff Photographer’s pictures. You may recognize a portion of it from the header of Joe’s blog.

I’m posting it again because not only is it my favorite Boomershoot photo to date, I just got the blown-up print back from the shop for mounting on my office wall.

I say it’s my weekend project because a 55″ x 104″ sheet of photo paper (yes, it’s more than eight feet long) is far too heavy to just tack on the wall, and due to the size it’s far too expensive for me to have framed. So I’m going to take a couple of my heavy plywood sheets from the spare wood rack behind the house, clean them and sand them smooth, and use them as the backer with some sanded and painted 2x4s as the frame. Gloss black should look nice. All I’ll need to buy is a large sheet of plexiglass (or maybe two butted together) to protect the image from dust and keep it flat.

If you wanna see what it’s like, open the photo in your standard Windows imaging program and enlarge it to 200%. Yes the figures are blurry, but not too much — just enough, in fact, that it’s quite like an Impressionist painting. It looks fantastic. Watch this space for updates and images of the final project mounted on my wall.
