Lightning Storm

We had a brief thunderstorm with rain and lightning the other night. It’s extremely unusual to experience any kind of rainstorm at this time of year. Even with rain we’ll get thunder maybe once every two years or so. And this is the second time I’ve seen lightning in a Bay Area rainstorm in a decade. Pics by my nephew Chris.

So you didn’t like the speech

If you have less than a favorable review of President Obama’s speech in Egypt yesterday, then John Amato of the Crooks and Liars blog has a message for you:

STFU and GTFO. It wasn’t for you.

I know most of America understands this, but let me say it anyway. President Obama’s speech to the middle east was not meant for the neocon, warmongering fringe psychos like Charles Krauthammer. He was apoplectic on Brett Baier’s show today on FOX because Obama’s team didn’t craft a speech that the AEI would approve of.

When Amato says “most of America”, he means the 20% who hate Israel, love to denigrate women and think that paying off those who would attempt to destroy us is good so long as we have enough left over to give everyone free healthcare.

AKA: people just like him!

Because on Planet Amato, it is always Pauline Kael time!

I think that the liberal mindset is still stuck in “Not My President” mode. They apparently believe that folks like myself are just as petty as they are and don’t think that Obama’s visit was as a representative/ambassador/Chief Executive of all Americans. Just the liberal ones.

Ignore the industry leader who supported the candidate Obama, but who now has to remind the sane what a doughy pantload his policies are.

Microsoft Corp. Chief Executive Officer Steven Ballmer said the world’s largest software company would move some employees offshore if Congress enacts President Barack Obama’s plans to impose higher taxes on U.S. companies’ foreign profits.

“It makes U.S. jobs more expensive,” Ballmer said in an interview. “We’re better off taking lots of people and moving them out of the U.S. as opposed to keeping them inside the U.S.”

Obama on May 4 proposed outlawing or restricting about $190 billion in tax breaks for offshore companies over the next decade. Such business groups as the National Foreign Trade Council, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable have denounced the proposed overhaul.

U.S. tax rules let companies defer paying corporate rates as high as 35 percent on most types of foreign profits as long as that money remains invested overseas. Obama says he wants to end such incentives to keep foreign profits tax-deferred so that companies would invest them in the U.S.

Microsoft reported an overall effective tax rate of 26 percent for 2008 in its last annual report. “Our effective tax rates are less than the statutory tax rate due to foreign earnings taxed at lower rates,” the report said.

Voting with their feet and their wallets.

Too bad for Obama that ACORN isn’t allowed to register either of those to vote.

True to form, and without much searching on my part, I found yet another leftist site who just cannot take seriously that the 1st and 2nd Amendments might be somewhat equal in importance to reasonable people.

In a post titled “W.W.J.P. – What Would Jesus Pack”, FDL poster and wannabe comedienne, Watertiger, attempts mockery of those attending the New Bethel Church’s Open Carry Church Service.

Win Underwood said that “Guns are the one thing that secured freedom of religion for our country.”

Being a liberal, and therefore considers it a form of abuse to have to contemplate any idea not spoon fed to her by those she considers her betters, watertiger responded

Remember kids: People don’t create democracies, guns do!

Yep, them pieces of paper drawn up and signed by the Founding Fathers just scared ol’ King George right out of his pants and he demanded his standing army and navy skeedaddle right back across the pond after reading them. No firearms at all were necessary to actually secure the freedoms writen on those documents. No Sir, not a single one!

Such a need to live in a fantasy world is rarely seen without having to spend time looking for it.

And btw, Jesus would pack a bone stock WWII era 1911 of Ithaca manufacture.

What with the dedication of a statue to President Ronald Reagan and the creation of the Reagan Centennial Panel, the MSM has been abuzz trying to compare Obama to The Gipper.

I lurves me some Ronnie, but frankly, I had about enough of this when there were just a few mentions of it back in January.

So we’re going back to the 80’s today, hopefully to flush this out of everybody’s system.

The PacNW gets no love from the Obama Administration

The Obama administration has proposed a 25 percent cut in the research and development budget for one of the most promising renewable energy sources in the Northwest — wave and tidal power.

At the same time the White House sought an 82 percent increase in solar power research funding, a 36 percent increase in wind power funding and a 14 percent increase in geothermal funding, it sought to cut wave and tidal research funding from $40 million to $30 million.

If our two Senators, Patty “Osama bin Laden builds daycare centers” Murray and Maria “Can’tVoteWell” Cantwell would keep their damn eyes on the prize instead of dallying with shit our state doesn’t need attending to, this wouldn’t have happened.

Just last month a set of these power generators was OK’d to be set off in Puget Sound by Mr. Completely’s place. The things have four legs and can be moved around if a better location is discovered or if for some reason their location suddenly becomes a shipping lane. All you see is a damn buoy floating on top of the water and the fish could care less. Twice a year cleanings is the required maintenance. Hit the link for a rather well done drawing.
But noooooo, The President’s folks would rather cover the state of Nevada with solar panels that can’t be manufactured fast enough to meet his production targets and every ridge line mowed down and topped with a propeller until alien civilizations begin to wonder if they have religious significance.

I sincerely hope Rossi takes on Cantwell next time around. She hikes up our gas prices and her inattentiveness is going to mean higher electrical rates now too.
