At LMS Defense’s Home Defense course this past weekend, active shooters in school settings were discussed because several of the students attending were schoolteachers or, like my wife, worked in a public school. One teacher in attendance mentioned that his district was working on a plan to arm and train teachers, in conjunction with either LMS or LMS’ instructor, I can’t recall which.
So yes, even in California, some school districts have the right idea and are implementing it.

While at the very chilly Glowball Warmening protest last week, one of the leftist vloggers ran across a fellow named Ray Lewis.
Mr. Lewis claims to be a retired Chief of Police, though I cannot figure out from where. I see a set of double silver bars on the epaulets of his very spiffy coat made of dead animal, but nothing else specifying where he may have earned his “officialness”.
He also claims to be an authority on Climate Change. How being a Chief of Police qualifies him for that is lost on me.
He also claims that the very next step HAS TO BE massive civil disobedience because the emergency is so great. He has decided to warn everyone not only is the massive civil disobedience happening soon, but also that he plans to choose that side when it happens.
After seeing what the cops in L.A. do to folks who peacefully deliver newspapers, I don’t think now would be a good time to start chaining themselves to stuff and destroying public and private property.
Rather, that should read: “Good news at All Around Pizza & Deli in Virginia Beach, Virginia”
These folks can, but they disagree with the Constitution
A bill was introduced in the State Assembly by Felix Ortiz (D-Brooklyn) that would require citizens of New York to acquire liability insurance as a condition to gun ownership.
Bill S2353 will require all gun owners in NY to obtain and “continuously maintain” insurance coverage of at least $1 million, or they will suffer “immediate revocation of such owner’s registration, license and any other privilege to own” a firearm.
If the citizen fails to obtain the insurance, then by simply owning the firearm, they will be in violation of the law.
One of the Repubs in that state house needs to show them some “good for the goose” and propose legislation that requires politicians to take out a personal $20 million insurance policy before they can propose legislation to cover the cost to the state when they get their piece of legislation goes down in flames in the courts.
As I mentioned earlier, the wife and I spent the weekend at LMS Defense’s awesome training facility in Oroville for the two-day Home Defense class, for which Pistol I or equivalent is a prerequisite.
Located in a professional building complex, LMS’s facility (think former doctors’ offices) is very realistic for home defense scenarios. It’s really easy to pick out areas of my home, at least, that are awfully close to what we encountered there. And that’s a tribute to how varied the room configurations, materials, furnishings, lighting, wall and floor coverings are. There’s a full kitchen, for one thing. There are classroom and staging spaces, as well, and you can see my wife twirling her hair in class and me, my back to the camera, to her left in the video below. I also got some camera and voiceover time, and she did too.
More on the class later, but holy shit, everybody needs to take this course! Takeaways were too numerous for me to mention without going back to my two days of notes. Which I will, in a later post.
I don’t normally comment at other blogs. Mostly because I can just link and post whatever I have to say here, but also partly because I worry that the host and the other folks in the comments will think I’m just there pimping the RNS url. It is just a part of my personality. I worry about shit like that. I don’t care if any of the other guys in the RNS crew do so, because I know that pimping is not their intention. It is up to them to worry what other folks think that of their comments.
But I did make a rare appearance at Uncle’s last week, and I got a link to a great piece of short fiction from it.

Progressives love them some lists. It allows them to section off parts of the population into easy to manage portions for their divide and conquer politics.
However…
Saadiq Long is a 10 year USAF veteran. While stationed in Istambul, Turkey he converted to Islam. A while after he was honorably discharged, he moved to Qatar and opened a business teaching English in Doha.
Back in the US, his mother, a Texas resident, became terminally ill. He was informed and he booked his flight to Texas to see her. The day before his flight, he received a call saying that he would not be allowed on the plane because of his “status”. Most likely because he is on the infamous “No Fly List”. We’ll never know because no one is allowed to know about “The List” or why they got onto it or how to get their name removed from it.
He booked another flight, and after the FBI went to his mother’s home to interview her about her terminal illness and this time was not blocked from flying to Texas. However, he has made two attempts to fly home since the first part of February, one time with a FBI escort to the airport, and has now been blocked from boarding the plane both times by the Department of Homeland Security.
This story prompts MSNBC’s Chris Hayes to talk about the “No Fly List” in regards to Gun Control.
