The big story for the left right now is the payola scandal involving Armsrong Williams and the Dept. of Education. While I don’t think that it is as big a deal as the media is making it out to be, I don’t think it was an especially bright thing to do.

I was finally able to see my 90% completed Boomershoot rifle last Friday when I was dropping off parts for the stock to extend my necessary ‘Length of Pull’ to almost 15 inches.
I did not think to bring my camera however, because the smith had just gotten the barrel in from Hart the last time I was there and still had to ream and hone the chamber and put threads on it, along with bead-blasting the exterior, fitting it to the receiver, etc, so I did not think it would be anywhere near as done as it was.
Let me just tell you all that it is a thing of beauty. I wanted to take it home with me right then, even though the smith had not yet gotten the trigger from Jewell or put the bolt back together yet.
If it shoots half as good as it looks, I’ll be a very happy man.
You may remember the post from a couple of weeks ago about the leftie radio talkshow host who couldn’t figure out what good sending an aircraft carrier would do to help the tsunami victims.
Varifrank had to get ‘unprofessional’ in dispensing some very healthy knowledge to a group of euros that he has to work with on this very topic.
Over the past 6 weeks, I’ve been deeply enmeshed in one of those “go live at the end of the year” projects that we in the IT industry have learned to love. The kind where managers assume that since no one is working, why that would be the perfect time to go live!
Of course, it means that your doing complex work at the point of maximum distraction with many many holidays and no staff.
Today, during an afternoon conference that wrapped up my project of the last 18 months, one of my Euro collegues tossed this little turd out to no one in particular:
“See, this is why George Bush is so dumb, theres a disaster in the world and he sends an Aircraft Carrier…”
After which he and many of my Euro collegues laughed out loud.
and then they looked at me. I wasn’t laughing, and neither was my Hindi friend sitting next to me, who has lost family in the disaster.

Got this in an e-mail from my mom yesterday. I laughed at it and then remembered our Gubernatorial election. Then I had to stop laughing.
God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.
He inquired of God. “Where have you been?”
God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction, and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, “Look, Michael. Look what I’ve made.”
Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, “What is it?” “It’s a planet,” replied God, “and I’ve put Life on it. I’m going to call it Earth and it’s going to be a great place of balance.”
“Balance?” inquired Michael, still confused.
God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. “For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over there I’ve placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things,” God continued pointing to different countries. “This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice.”
The Archangel, impressed by God’s work, then pointed to a land area and said, “What’s that one?”
“Ah,” said God “That’s Washington State, the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, plains, and coulees. The people from Washington State are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats, and carriers of peace.”
Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then proclaimed, “What
about balance, God? You said there would be balance.” God smiled,
“There is another Washington…wait until you see the idiots I put there.”
As a white supremacist group gears up to target Portland residents this weekend, anti-racist activists are fighting back.
Members of the Tualatin Valley Skins are planning to meet this weekend in Gabriel Park to distribute leaflets and flyers, which some neighbors are not too happy about.

I am truly enjoying the rank hypocrisy of the IMCer’s when, in the comments of the linked post, one of them says this:

fact: free speech means that people have the right to say what they want to, but since when should advocating genocide be condoned by not confronting it? our society is what we make of it. the reality is that nazis are not simply expressing opinions at their rallies (like, “I don’t like taxes!” or “Guns are harmful!”) they are actively organizing and recruiting members to take part in a racist organization with the express purpose of harming others, with the ultimate goal of white supremacy and genocide. it is imperative they be disrupted as much as possible. in every town out here where organized nazi groups have gained a foothold, even for a short while.

If a person from the right wing even shows up at one of the IMCer’s rallys, let alone a group of Protest Warriors, these people bitch and moan that those people are ‘trying to silence them’.
