Too many similarities here

They’re both on islands. They both think of their subjects as too stupid to think for themselves. They both wish America was impotent. And they both hate George W. Bush.

I speak of London Mayor, Ken Livingstone, who plans on inviting Cuban Dictator, Tyrant and murderer, Fidel Castro to come and visit.

I can see it now, Castro tells Livingstone the best way to round up those who disagree with him and execute them in soccer stadiums.

Livingstone gives Castro the number to the company that makes the streetside surveillance cameras.

Afterwards, as they’re lying in bed, sharing a cigar, they whisper sweet nothings of Bush insults in each others ears.

Shortly thereafter, myself and a few selected other VRWC bloggers burst into the boudoir and have fun making Castro explain to us what a wonderful country America is while Livingstone is made to repeatedly hit himself on the head with a cricket bat.

Reminder

Backup early, backup “often.”:http://timblair.net/weblog.php

First LGF and instapundit hit with a DoS. Now Tim Blair apparently hacked and having his database wiped out.

Gotta run – I feel the sudden, urgent need to back up all of RNS.

Count ANY Vote: Part Devyatnadtsat

Sorry for the late update, but things have happened to make this story a bit of a slug, both personally and news wise.

The Repub court case that was supposed to take place on last Friday the 14th was postponed. You may remember that I wrote about the Dems joining the Secretary of States side in the case with the Repubs approval. That is turning out to have been a HUGE MISTAKE on the part of the (R)s.

The Dems immediately filed a number of motions; one to slow down the ‘discovery’ portion of the case, one to ask that the presiding judge be removed and one questioning Chelan County’s jurisdiction.

These have served to push the hearing back to this Thursday the 20th (aka Bush’s Inaugural) where these issues will be decided.

REMEMBER, the Repubs only have 10 days after the inauguration (this Saturday) to challenge the validity of the election and legally get it thrown out. After that, it would take the making of new law for anything like that to happen.

Fat chance of the Washington State Supreme Court doing anything like that.

Once again, it appears that the Repubs in Washington stepped on their own peckers in a feeble attempt to get things set right. Now, they had better start praying for heavenly intervention on this baby or they can kiss their hopes of getting Gregoire ousted goodbye.

If they CAN actually prove malfeasance, fraud or incompetence, but a judge refuses to order a new Gubernatorial contest or the decision date comes down after the 22nd, they don’t have many friends in the media around these parts to help them win in the court of public opinion to request a new election. And with the whining and the shodding playing of the media they have been doing for the last few weeks, I can guarantee you that, while they may have swung some (D)s to their side, they pissed away some damn good (R) support.

So, here you go. This is Gregoire’s Inaugural speech. I know I promised to fisk it since it IS just a long list of sound bites, but she included items about her mom and a number of family friends (some of whom are dead) who are probably decent people . I just didn’t have the heart to sling some of my usual abuses at total strangers and non-public figures on my birthday weekend. Sorry.

If anything interesting pops up between now and Thurday, I’ll let you know.

Otherwise, just think of this election as one that the Dems stole in the face of Republican ineptitude.

Passing along a Request

Found at The View From North Central Idaho. Joe Huffman recieved this in his email box:

Greetings all,

I have spoken to Chris Knox (one of Neal Knox’s son) and told him I wanted to make our subscribers aware of this. He agreed with me that the timing was critical.

It comes with great grief and sorrow to break the news that Neal Knox is very ill, and nearly to the point of death due to cancer. Essentially, if Almighty God does not intervene with a miracle, Neal may succumb and die within a few short days, possibly even hours. We just don’t know how long he has. Regardless, nothing less than a miracle will bring him out of this.

If you have ever believed, or do believe in prayer, please pray for Neal.

Neal Knox’s website is http://www.nealknox.com/

And above all requests, PLEASE PRAY FOR A MIRACLE FOR NEAL.

Read more about Neal Knox: http://www.gunownersalliance.com/knox_bio.htm

Sincerely,

Gun Owners Alliance

If you have never heard of Neal Knox, you surely have not read one of the best authors, columnists, idea men and fighters for our 2nd Amendment rights.

I was introduced to Mr. Knox’s writings when I was about 12 years old. Every ten dys, his latest column would appear in the arriving Shotgun News. After my Dad was through hunting for stuff in the SGN, I was allowed to go through it.

Let’s just say one thing, I don’t remember hardly any of the other authors or columnists that wrote for SGN, but I remember Mr. Knox.

I got a chance to meet him via my dad in 1988 during a lobbying meeting I was allowed to accompany with my dad. As Joe Huffman said, the guy was sharp as a tack and played a mean chess game. Not everything went the way he planned, but most folks don’t know the half of what Mr. Knox and his counterparts stomped out of the halls of Congress.

If you are the praying kind, please include Mr. Knox in your prayers. If you are not, just keep him in your thoughts and wish him well.

Thank you.

Let’s Play “Name Your Cuts!”

I found this story at the Kos IMC:

[Bush] plans to fulfill his pledge to halve the record $413 billion federal budget deficit by submitting a 2006 budget next month that includes nothing for some programs. He wouldn’t name them.

“We will present a budget that wisely spends the people’s money, that cuts the deficit in half, that will enable me to get up in front of the people and say those programs that aren’t working won’t be getting extra money, and some of the programs won’t be getting any money at all,” he said.

Sounds like a plan to slow down and/or stop the deficit spending to me, and it is about damn time.

Your task is to think of what you would like cut and put it in the comments section.

“Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist”

The title to this post is a quote from none other than George Orwell.

DANEgerous makes a connection to this quote, along with another paragraph or two of it, and the new anti-Free Speech codes that have been proposed in the UK.

I’ve got Good News

And I’ve got Bad News.

First, the Bad News:

Our pal, Brent from The Ville, is planning on hanging up his Bloggin Hat this Thursday.

Never one to hold back on the lonney lefite losers, his hand on the throat style of blogging will be missed. But while he won’t be doing any actual blogging, he still be around, lurking in the ether, waiting to strike.

Make sure you stop by The Ville on the Thursday for a 21 Key Salute to a good blog, a good blogger, a good musician and a good family man.

The Good News:

Is that JimK of Right Thoughts fame has started up a new site titled “South Park Conservatives.Com”

From JimK: My intent is to make this a true group community site, where members submit stories and editors (to be named later) pick the ones that end up on the front page. There are forums as welland its PostNuke, so we can add features later to expand the community. I dont want it to be driven by any one person or personality, but to truly reflect a community, so once it gets rolling I hope to take a back seat and let the site govern itself as much as is possible.

So head on over and, if you’re feeling up to it, sign up.

Kewl Stuff

Mike at Sworn Enemy has found a link to some great memorabilia commemorating this Thursday’s Inauguration.

Oddly enough, it was in al-Guardian,

The post office is doing some flag-waving for President Bush’s second inauguration.

The agency is offering a special inaugural keepsake commemorative, featuring an envelope bearing photos of Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. The envelope, designed to look like a presidential campaign postcard from the early 1900s, will carry a Jan. 20 postmark.

Also included in the $11.95 keepsake set will be an “Old Glory” booklet containing 20 stamps featuring the U.S. flag plus a narrative and nearly 100 photos illustrating the nation’s heritage.

The photos illustrate historical patriotic themes and were taken from collections at the American Folk Art Museum in New York, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History and other collections.

The 37-cent stamps, first issued in 2003, include five designs:

– A 19th century hand-painted carving of a woman holding a sword and flag.

– An 1888 presidential campaign badge with a photo of Benjamin Harrison.

– The top portion of a commemorative bookmark woven at the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893.

– An example of 20th century folk art featuring Uncle Sam riding a high-wheel bicycle.

– A modern folding fan with a flag design.

The keepsakes will be on sale Jan. 20 in Washington, Crawford, Texas and many large post offices across the country, or it can be ordered by calling 1-800-STAMP24 or at www.usps.com/shop.

Here is a direct link to pre-order the goods.

Reagan fans will want to go here too.

ELF, the Video Game

Found at Right Thinking on Friday,

Steer Madness: Steer Madness is a fully-featured 3D action-adventure game for home computer. You play as Bryce the Steer who narrowly escaped the slaughterhouse. Now liberated, you are on a mission to save your animal friends!

While not a ‘gamer’ myself, this sounds as boring as sand blow across the desert.

But wait until you hear about the next eco-friendly game coming out:

Eco-Savior: You are a part of a animal rights organization. Your mission: To break into testing labs and free the sad wittle animals and then trashing the place. Extra points are awarded for putting your graffiti tag in a prominent location. You also have to evade the local fuzz and FBI. As you gain experience points, you get the opportunity to commit arson in housing developments and resorts.

OK, so that last one isn’t real. But it might be in the future.

One twist I would like added into is the possibility of either FBI or civilian infiltrators. The civilian infiltrators are vigilantes who execute the eco-team members.

Game Over.
