At least the right one died

Makes even an atheist like myself pause and consider the implications of “divine intervention on behalf of the innocent.”:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7117797/

bq. _A five-year-old Toronto girl is expected to make a full recovery after she was reportedly tossed by her father at least 50 feet on to Canada’s busiest highway, police said Monday._

bq. _The girl’s father was killed when he jumped from the overpass on to Highway 401 in north Toronto. Witnesses told local media they saw the man throw the girl before jumping._

However, reality comes crashing back when you think about all of the innocents who aren’t spared – which is a depressing and cynical thought to have.

Hey, Michael Moore –

I’m pretty sure the “minutemen”:http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/message/index.php?messageDate=2004-04-14 of the American revolution never polled “this negatively”:http://powerlineblog.com/archives/2005_03.php#009772 among the people.

So, apparently, your position makes you not only anti-American, but anti-Iraqi. In fact, the only thing you appear to be for is terrorism. And here we were questioning your patriotism.

And the camel’s nose

makes its way “under the tent.”:http://washingtontimes.com/world/20050307-120131-5769r.htm

bq. _*The decision by operatives of Italy’s SISMI military intelligence service to keep the CIA in the dark about the deal for the release of reporter Giuliana Sgrena, might have “short-circuited” communications with U.S. forces controlling the road from Baghdad to the city’s airport, the newspaper La Stampa said.*_

Let’s see – a secret deal, the military not informed, a car with armed individuals not following orders at a checkpoint, and a fatal shooting. Somebody certainly screwed up, but it wasn’t the US military.

And I notice that Sgrena’s *really* starting to backpedal on her story. All 29 versions of it.

Well,

At least she didn’t title it “the truth”:http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/03/06/il.manifesto/, which would have been a different thing all together.

Sunday Rangeday

So Sunday, I head off to the range to warm the barrel up on my Boomershoot rifle. Out of ammo, except for some Aussie ball that was given to me by one of the shooters at the 500yd parctive and some US M80 ball (still in links, don’t ask).

I figured, if nothing else, I’ll get some steady rest practice in.

Glenn, the new rangemaster at the Renton Fish and Game rifle range, and also an employee at Ben’s Loans, a local gun shop, was kind enough to loan me his rest and bags for the morning so that I could do an actual test on the rifle’s accuracy without me needing to resort to using my ‘Pile O Sandbags’ (rest and bags currently on order).

First up a pic of the gear,

Next a close up of the optics rig as it currently sits,

I stopped by the smith’s Friday morning and had the mount and rings put on. Unlike last week, when I had only 5 inches of elevation left at 100yds, I now have 35 inches, plus with this new base and the quick detachable rings, I can move the scope and get more.

Here are the results (note: I have gotten flak for being modest with my pistol targets in the past, only showing the average ones. I will not be taking that with this rifle).

I was using a 50ft NRA Smallbore Rifle target (like this one) at 100yds because I am lazy and didn’t want to have to walk out to change the damn thing. The bulls are 1.5 inches across and I was firing 5 shot groups. Aim small/Miss small.

That was the Aussie Ball ammo. I’m looking for a source.

That was the M80 US ball. You can buy it almost anywhere. This is a decent price.

Mea Culpa: I had a couple with the Aussie that had two in the white and more than a couple with the M80 that only put two out of five in the black. No bragging, those were all my fault.

54 days until Boomershoot and I’m working on it.

Dustup

At the end of last week, the second shot across the bow of the First Amendment Rights of Bloggers was sent.

The first shot was sent over two weeks ago.

Now that they have everyone’s attention, I am glad to see that folks are doing something.

I especially like the Geek’s idea and artwork.

arkeyboard.JPG

Stop on by the McCain-Feingold Insurrection site sometime today.

In the meantime bloggers, load your cannons and keep your barrels warm.

This is no time to slow down.

I would suggest you also read this message, written by Dale Amon of Belfast, No. Ireland at Samizdata;

Dear Sirs:

Should you attempt to overthrow the First Amendment on the internet, I will disobey.
I will not answer the court.
I refuse to pay fines.
I will organize civil disobedience against your Communist style election rules.
I will never, ever, submit to this attempt to destroy American liberty.

With utter enmity and ill will,
Dale Amon.

Live Free or Die.

Absolutely, Mr. Amon.

While some may say that with Mr. Amon being in another country, those aren’t strong words, fine then, say them yourself or quit blogging.

You can start by sending them here and here.

I Think I Might Be Insulted

Democratic Propagandist, Zach Exley, is also known as ‘The Garbadge Man’. Mr. Exley is a former employee of MoveOn.Org and was busted for publishing fake photos of President Bush with cocaine residue under his nose a while back.

Being a member of a “Refuse Collection” I don’t like the title. I understand it, but I don’t like it.

Well, according to The Independant UK, Mr. Exley is now working for the Labour Party. According to their story, they hired him almost expressly because of his work with MoveOn.

Over at FrontPageMag, Lowell Ponte also shows ties between Mr. Exley, ELF and The Ruckus Society.

You may remember the Ruckus folks; at the 2000 RNC, Philly Police Officers stopped and arrested a large number of Ruckus members and found not only gasoline soaked rags and improvised weapons, but street wide lengths of piano wire to be used to trip up the horses of the Mounted Police.

For these arrests, 15 officers were injured and 23 of their cruisers were damaged.

Sounds like the Labour Party is sinking to a new low with this dirtbag.

The Dems Complain

About the deficit, all the while also complaining that we’re not spending enough on (insert Dem pet cause here).

They also claim that it wouldn’t be this way if the Oval office were under Democratic management.

With items like this, I beg to differ,

State auto-accident insurance fund out of gas

You might want to drive defensively around official state vehicles. Illinois has run out of money to pay auto-accident claims.

With the $1.6 million insurance fund exhausted, 62 Illinois motorists or their insurance companies are awaiting $233,000 for accidents involving state vehicles. And new money won’t be available until the next budget year starts in July, so more accidents and more delays are likely.

The Feds may be having to borrow money, but at least they can issue their own bonds. Illinois will soon be down to bartering chickens.

Just a wee bit contradictory, perhaps?

So, go read the “CNN report of Sgrena’s claims that the US is lying about the circumstances surrounding her shooting.”:http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/03/06/italy.iraq/index.html

CNN does a good job covering up her anti-war, anti-American positions, only conceding that Il Manifesto is a “left-leaning” newspaper.

What’s more interesting, however, are Sgrena’s own words:

bq. *Troops used arm signals and flashing white lights, fired warning shots in front of the car, and shot into the engine block when the driver did not stop, the military said in a statement.*

bq. *But in an interview with Italy’s La 7 Television, the 56-year-old journalist said _”there was no bright light, no signal.”_*

So, she flat out says the military is lying, and says they were fired on “without motive”. However, in her next statement she says:

bq. *And Italian magistrate Franco Ionta said Sgrena reported the incident was not at a checkpoint, but rather the shots came from _”a patrol that shot as soon as they lit us up with a spotlight.”_*

So there were no lights, but they were lit up with a spotlight? How, exactly, does that work?

There have been questions all along how “real” her kidnapping was. She is openly hostile to the US, and disappeared while interviewing terrorist sympathizers. A video tape with her pleading for her life was released just before the Italian elections, in an apparent effort to influence them al la Spain. She was sure to thank her captors for treating her so well. And now she is telling people she was deliberatley targeted, and the leftists jump on the bandwagon as expected. I don’t think she planned on getting shot, but I do think she is going to use it to whatever political advantage she can – and bask in the hero worship of her commie buddies, of course.

As for the deliberately targeted meme they are trying to foster, it’s complete tripe. How do I know? Simple – because she’s still alive. If it really was a patrol that ambushed them in the night with the sole intent to kill her, why did they stop shooting? Certainly can’t be anyone around to challenge your version of events if you kill everyone right off the bat, right?

h3. UPDATE

And the story “just keeps changing.”:http://observer.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,1431436,00.html

bq. *Italian reconstruction of the incident is significantly different. Sgrena told colleagues the vehicle was not travelling fast and had _already passed several checkpoints on its way to the airport. The Americans shone a flashlight at the car and then fired between 300 and 400 bullets at if from an armoured vehicle._ Rather than calling immediately for assistance for the wounded Italians, the soldiers’ first move was to confiscate their weapons and mobile phones and they were prevented from resuming contact with Rome for more than an hour.*

They weren’t at a checkpoint, then they were. There was no light, a spotlight from a patrol, a flashlight in the window, and then several hundred rounds were fired from an armored vehicle. But only 1 person in the car died. I wonder what kind of armored vehicles we have that are so ineffective that 400 rounds shot into an unarmored car only kills 1 person?

This lady is lying – and the left will do everything it can to be sure that the lie is repeated often enough that people begin to believe it.

Interesting, isn’t it, that the Guardian notes Sgrena’s anti-war efforts, and describes Il Manifesto as a communist newspaper – something that CNN just couldn’t bring itself to do. Maybe the moniker of “Communist News Network” isn’t so far off the mark after all.

Good form Ms.Parker

But you didn’t nail the landing.

One of my pupils at the Royal Keister Academy of Fanny Dynamics, one of those hard body science schools, is Miss Parker.

Now, Ms. Parker is a wonderful student but she has, umm, episodes. Some of the staff call them “Flights of Fancy”, but I can’t really call what she does ‘flying’ per se.

You see, Ms. Parker believes she is the sister of one Peter Parker, the civilian name of the superhero “Spiderman”.

Ms. Parker will take off to go ‘stop evildoers’ in the middle of a class and it is getting quite disruptive, almost to the point where I am no longer going to humor her little episodes.

Why, just this last week she tried to come back to class after ‘fighting evildoers’.
