When The Gales of November Come Early . . . .

Today we had our first really cold blast of goodbye fall, hello winter complete with high winds blowing some light snow flurries almost horizontal. For some reason I thought of this event from 36 years ago and was reminded that as beautiful as Michigan can be, Mother Nature does have her nasty moments. To me this song remains as hauntingly beautiful a tribute today as it did all those years ago. I still get chills listening.

    And these lake freighters are big, really big. It’s total hubris that we think we are bigger than nature.
