Range Day with new rifle

So Phil and I were at the range this morning. His goal was to function fire David’s SOCOM. My goal was to zero my new 700 SPS in .308. It was all of 30 degrees out there but thankfully no wind.

I was attempting to find my rifle’s favorite food, hence, the different brands of ammo. The sandwich baggie is Black Hills Match that David gave me. After Boomershoot, I dropped all my gear in the living room and jumped in the shower. Well, my stupid black lab thought that .308 rounds would make a tasty snack. Fortunately, he only ate cardboard and styrofoam.

SPS is a sweet rifle! That’s what I’ve got but I have the varmint. Yours tactical?

  2. Scott says:

It is the tactical with threaded barrel. I have an AAC muzzle brake in the mail. Hopefully I will be able to put a can on it soon.

  3. Tango says:

Definitely jealous on the threaded barrel. Who did the threading? Would like to do the same with mine but instead I think I’ll do that witha shorter barrel like yours. I’m also saving my pennies for a McRee stock for mine. No free floating barrel with the included stock…

  4. Scott says:

The SPS Tactical comes with a threaded barrel. And Remington’s site even recommends AAC brakes and suppressors. More to come later on this rifle.

Good choice. My SPS Varmint likes Federal Gold Medal Match 168.
