I don’t care what anyone says; I still like this movie. The opening theme encapsulates a black hole’s majesty, weirdness, and the inexorably increasing pull of gravity as well as any music could IMO. Crank it to feel the waves pulling you down….

This movie is dying for a modern treatment / reboot.
NOOOOOOO. Don’t mess with it!
It’s a classic. Loved the robot designs as a kid.
There was SO MUCH wrong with that movie… LOL I remember Siskel & Ebert’s review on their TV show–Ebert whined that the black hole wasn’t black. That was actually one of the few things the makers DID get right. IIRC early in the movie, Yvette Mimieux and one of the men is shown floating in free fall, though the ship’s engines are firing; i.e., it’s accelerating. Maximilian Schell was quite off his rocker as the bad guy… probably from contemplating his career barreling down that black hole… ;^)
Such a classic sci-fi story. The movie tried so hard to do too many things, but I still liked it.
