Not the proper use of government employee time

A couple years ago, the Seattle city council decided that it would be a good idea to gather up all the drunks who are regularly drinking themselves in to comas in one place and let them drink themselves unconscious there. They bought and renovated a building along the southeastern edge of Lake Union and subsequently created a living hell for those working or living nearby.

Loud noise at all hours of the night. Sirens from the ambulances taking the blood poisoned drunks to the “nearby” county hospital constantly splitting the quiet of the evening. Litter and vomit on sidewalks, panhandling, assaults and all the other things intelligent people move away from were focused on the surrounding blocks.

And now we find that not only is the city supporting the destructive behavior of these professional drunks, they’re paying city employees to go on beer runs for the residents.

That is an Emergency Services employee and van unloading at least one shopping cart full of pisswater sold as beer into the backdoor of the drunk house.

She needs to be fired for not refusing to make the haul. Her supervisor should also probably be fired for either letting her make the haul or for not knowing what his employee is doing on city time and with city vehicles, and this building needs to be shut down and it’s occupants cited at the earliest possible opportunity for public intoxication and any other charges that seem appropriate at the time. When they don’t pay the fine, they need to be arrested and jailed.

I don’t even live in Seattle any longer and I feel as though I’ve been robbed.

    Wow. Just… wow.

If the government actually wants to warehouse drunks on the taxpayer dime, I only support the use of actual warehouses for the purpose. In this economy, there’s plenty of empty warehouses.

The way I’m reading this is that the city is supplying the booze, too?

Are they selling it, or just handing it out for free?

I have no idea about the city either “supplying” or “selling” the beer. From what I understand, she took the money from the drunks and went on a “canned water sold as beer” run for them so they wouldn’t have to be out bothering the public (which I’m sure is how the city sees it).
