Obama Signs Law Banning Federal Embryo Research Two Days After Signing Executive Order to OK It
On Wednesday, only two days after he lifted President Bush’s executive order banning federal funding of stem cell research that requires the destruction of human embryos, President Barack Obama signed a law that explicilty bans federal funding of any “research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death.”
The provision was buried in the 465-page omnibus appropriations bill that Obama signed Wednesday. Known as the Dickey-Wicker amendment, it has been included in the annual appropriations bill for the Department of Health and Human Services every fiscal year since 1996.
I don’t care about “embryonic” stem cell reasearch. This issue is such a low priority for me that I don’t even listen/change the station when it is discussed anymore, and the only reason I care even that much is because tax money shouldn’t be supporting medical research.
However, the left hooked onto this during the early stages of BDS and haven’t let go since. They trotted out Michael J. Fox and Christopher Reeves as soon-tobe-corpses if the government didn’t fund research. In the meantime, adult and umbilical stem cell research has proven to even more promising than this type was dreamed to be.
The above link has a print date of last Friday. I’ve gone through numerous leftosphere sites, all the way back to Thursday and found not a single mention.
When they do finally find out, do you think they’ll finally get their panties in a knot because of the breaking of yet another campaign promise due to the lack of transparancy and/or Obama not taking time to actually read what he is signing?

The one liberal blogger I mention it to basically said that “The Omnibus Bill is last year’s business. Obama had nothing to do with it’s drafting…” so he gets off the hook according to them.
