A Question

For the pro-EFCA crowd.

The Mad Rocket Scientist got into a discussion with some folks over at the collectivist Obsidian Wings blog on the topic of unions and the inappropriately named Employee Free Choice Act.

You should follow both of those links, in order, and paruse the rarity within: A reasonable blog debate in a leftist blog’s comments section.

Though I may have missed it since I last read the thread, I was shocked to not see an obvious question posed at the EFCA supporters:

Would you still be supportive of a Card Check system if employers were given level ground with the unions to collect cards espousing the refusal to join a union, and 50% +1 signed card made the union have to go away?

Of course, seeing as how the answer is, at least every single time I’ve discussed this with my Teamster co-workers, as well as other current union members I know, a resounding “NO!!1!”, the follow up would be Why not?

As an answer, you will then hear every horror story of “employer intimidation” that any pro-union crybaby has ever dreamed up and spread about like fertilizer.

Of course, linking to or telling EFCA supporters about these examples of union violence can and have caused virtual conniptions and a wagging of fingers in your face.
