Were off the coast of Somalia this weekend
French combat frogmen sneaked aboard a yacht off Somalia today, overpowered a gang of gunmen and rescued two hostages in a daring raid that President Sarkozy called a warning to pirates in the lawless Red Sea area. One pirate was killed and six taken prisoner in the 10-minute assault by 30 men from the Hubert Commando, an elite underwater unit that was founded by British-trained officers after Second World War. The dead pirate was the only one to open fire against the frogmen, who parachuted from helicopters at a distance from the 50-foot Carr d’As (Four Aces). No commandos were hurt.
Job well done, gentlemen.
