Can we deny him re-entry

Idiot Man-Child, AlGore, went to the lion’s den and decided to play ‘Leftist Fantasy Hour’.

Former Vice President Al Gore told a mainly Saudi audience on Sunday that the U.S. government committed “terrible abuses” against Arabs after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and that most Americans did not support such treatment.

Gore said Arabs had been “indiscriminately rounded up” and held in “unforgivable” conditions. The former vice president said the Bush administration was playing into al-Qaida’s hands by routinely blocking Saudi visa applications.

Really Al? I had heard exactly the opposite from your buddy, Michael Moore.

Gore told the largely Saudi audience, many of them educated at U.S. universities, that Arabs in the United States had been “indiscriminately rounded up, often on minor charges of overstaying a visa or not having a green card in proper order, and held in conditions that were just unforgivable.”

First off, I noticed that he couldn’t provide a single example of the so-called ‘unforgivable conditions’. Secondly, I can guarantee you that the vast majority of American prisons are ten times better than the black holes the Saudis use to detain people.

Then lastly, he has this lie,

“Unfortunately there have been terrible abuses and it’s wrong,” Gore said. “I do want you to know that it does not represent the desires or wishes or feelings of the majority of the citizens of my country.”

If someone overstays their visa or doesn’t have a green card, you can bet you lilly white ass, Al Gore, that I want them rounded up and held until that person’s status is fixed or they are deported.

It is something called “National Sovereignty”. We make our own laws and decided who gets to be here. And right now, I really don’t want you here, Al.

RNS Quote of the Day

It is important to note that the railroad owners did not start in business by corrupting the government. They had to turn to the practice of bribing legislators only in self-protection. The first and best builders of railroads were free enterprisers who took great risks on their own, with private capital and no government help.

It was only when they demonstrated to the country that the new industry held a promise of tremendous wealth that the speculators and the legislators rushed into the game to milk the new giant for all it was worth. It was only when the legislatures began the blackmail of threatening to pass disastrous and impossible regulations that the railroad owners had to turn to bribery.

Gilligan Law

Sometimes my Google searches provide unexpected results. Today I found a post about a Santa Clara Law Review article entitled Legal Tales from Gilligan’s Island.

It’s not bad, as law review articles go. That is, it doesn’t have much substance to it, but it’s copiously footnoted. If you haven’t yet learned the amusement value to be found in academic footnotes, well, this is a good place to start.

Oddly, I was searching for Jessica Simpson pics. I had a reason! My wife stated, upon seeing the Super Bowl Pizza Hut commercial ad nauseam, that Simpson’s breasts “weren’t all that big.” So of course I sprung into action. (A week later, but hey, I’m busy.) I wanted a nice profile shot to show my wife that, although Ms. Simpson’s breasts may not be big in absolute terms, when seen relative to the rest of her body, they’re a decent size.

All this effort will probably be met with a snort and some comment about my geeky nature. Hey, I yam what I yam.

Hat tip: Eye of Polyphemus.

UPDATE: Due to popular demand, here’s the pic I found when searching for “Jessica Simpson” in Google Images:

… not the best profile shot so far as boobs are concerned, but it does the trick.

Also found this one, from her USO tour in Iraq:

Don’t Smile

I was reminded of a funny story by this story in yesterday’s Seattle Times,

Prostitution sweep targets Aurora

No, it’s not what you’re thinking, it’s even funnier.

Around the end of last summer, the King County Sheriff’s Dept. was working a prostitution sting on their portion of the same stretch of road, which is also called Pacific Highway or Hwy 99.

I was talking to one of the officers who was working on the sting and he mentioned that a few days previous they had one of their decoys get picked up by a guy, and after working out a price, she got into his car and was directing him to the spot where the other officers were waiting.

The John made mention that he liked her smile and in reaction she smiled nice and big for him. He then slammed on the brakes, almost sending her into the windshield, and said the following,

“You have all your teeth. You’re a cop! Get Out!”

You’ve got to be a pretty frequent customer if you know that ‘real prostitutes’ don’t have all their teeth. Of course, hooking doen’t usually include a Dental Benefits package, so it stands to reason that they wouldn’t, but damn.

Yes, the woman had a mic on her and yes they have it on tape and yes still busted him.

I have not heard if they’re buying fake bad teeth for the ladies to wear in future stings. Knowing the new Sheriff, there won’t be money in the budget for it.

America Rocks the World

Ted at Rocket Jones was watching Olympic Womens Hockey and observed the following:

It was rather surreal. Ladies hockey, the arena music starts in and it’s La Bamba. So I’m watching Sweden vs. Russia, playing in Italy, and a Mexican folk song sung by an American teenager gets the crowd fired up.

More Splashes of Sunshine

It seems that Ms. Anni wasn’t the only morningstar wanting to swim in the sunrise yesterday.

Ms. Monika was there as well.

Do you want to be in pictures?

How about the small screen?

Well then, put on your tinfoil hat and wander on over to the Daily Kos, because he’s got a job for you.

Kos co-wrote a book for his choir and now he has some yahoos who are willing to film a TV spot for it. Other than the fact that the concept is pissing the PeTA types off, their concept sucks, but he is putting out a casting call anyway.

Go read. It’s teh funny!

Waking up to the Sunrise

Good Staurday all! It’s your bottom dollar dealer, Professor Booty!

For the folks who might not have noticed, the sunrises are happneing at a noticably earlier time these days. Spring is fast approaching.

While I enjoy watching both the rise and the setting of our star Sol, I like to think that seeing the morning sunbeams are necessary for a youthful existence.

Some of my students are morningstars as well. For instance, Ms. Anni likes to hit the pool for a quick dip before it gets too crowded.

Stupid Panders As Stupid Does

In this case, Stupid is Washington’s “Barely Governor” Christine Gregiore, who has joined into a lawsuit with Oregon, California and New Mexico to sue the federal government because the Bush Administration wants the opportunity to open national forest lands to mining and logging.

Once again, Miss Chriss is pandering to the national environmentalist lobby while putting her state is the #2 spot.

Jobs and revenue dollars are just two things that mining and logging opportunities provide, and it’s not like Washington couldn’t use a few more of those. But it appears that Gregiore would rather be ‘The Environmental Governor’ than ‘The Jobs Governor’ with this statement,

“Joining this lawsuit is our last effort to defend Washington’s quality of life and our economy,”

That anyone’s ‘quality of life’ is going to be hampered by a private company punching a hole in the ground or select cutting timber is just such an ignorant idea that I cannot even put my head around it. As for our economy, thinning a forest will have zero to no effect on tourism to our national forests and the same goes for mining.

The whole key to this issue, and the actual reason the enviros are going nuts about this, dates back to the Clinton Administration when they helped push through and then signed the ‘No New Roads’ rules for federal wilderness lands.

Basically, the ‘No New Roads’ rules said that: 1. No new roads could be built, 2. Some roads had to be closed in order that ‘Mother Nature’ could “Reclaim” them, and 3. If a road deteriorated say, in a washout, no repairs were to be done to that section of the road, making the rest of the road “Reclaimable”.

Their entire mindest was to have the forests to go back to their wild state, out of the reach of the average citizen, all the while claiming that this was good for the average citizen.

The cutting of timer and mining requires one very important thing to make them work, and that thing is roads. You can’t select cut timber if you can’t haul it out and there is no use putting a hole in the ground if you can’t haul out what you’re digging for.

But there is a real life problem with this ‘No New Roads’ program and it was discovered during the 2002 California wildfire season.

1. If you have no roads, you either have extreme difficulty or you simply cannot transport firefighters to where they need to be to effectively fight the fire.

2. If you have one road in and out, you can get the firefighters in, but if the winds change, which is very common during deep forest blazes, you may not be able to get them out.

In the later example, you have just commited those firefighters to a death sentence because some dippy hippy wants to enjoy the pretty scenery without having to worry about the Jones’ coming around the corner in their SUV on summer vacation.

While I too would like to enjoy unspoilt wilderness without having to deal with my fellow citizens and their chillun mucking about the place, I know that if that is my preference, I am going to have to buy my own land that I can tell people to get the hell off of. They’re called “public lands” for a reason.

But the enviros want all the public lands (along with the money that comes with them) without any of the nasty little people who might happen along.

And this is the line of BS that Gregoire not only fell for, but now sees as fit to spread about. Just another reason she doesn’t deserve her position.

Dhimmi University of Washington

In today’s edition of the UW’s ‘The Daily’, writer Jenna Snavely, writing on the topic of the Mohammed cartoons, asks if there is “Too Much Freedom?”. Then after eleven paragraphs of hand-wringing decides that yes, there is.

Free speech is something America and Europe must always preserve, but tolerance is imperative to the cohesiveness of any society. And when free speech breaches tolerance, society will undoubtedly suffer.

As such, when sensitive issues such as religion arise, tolerance should prevail. Yes, we should censor ourselves in order to keep the peace — otherwise, hatred and resentment ensue.

As Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman told the press, “Freedoms should be accompanied by responsibility.”

Just what in the hell are they teaching at universities these days that taking advice from Iran is reasonable!?! Freedoms do come with responsibilities. It is my responsibility to not trample on the rights of others in the persuit of my own. It is not my responsibility to worry about offending some fanatic in the free exercise of my own personal rights.

No one has the right to empathy from anyone else. Those who are pissed off about the cartoons do not have the right to demand squat from the either the people who penned them, the people who published them or the people who read them.

And that is the differentiation that Ms. Snavely doesn’t seem to be able to get, even after she second guesses herself for eleven paragraphs.

What is even more mind numbing is that if you just turn the page of the ‘The Daily’ you’ll find this article,

‘Tunnel of Oppression’ sheds light on prejudices

Large signs with statements, such as “No tears for queers” and “Thank God for AIDS,” were featured in the homophobia display while “Welcome to America, now speak English” was written on the wall of the linguistics oppression room.

Other exhibits incorporated multimedia presentations including the white privilege room, which played the 2005 film Crash.

The “White Privilege Room”? “Linguistic Oppression”? WTF!!!

Talk about your ‘Liberal Arts’. Maybe Meghan Peters should follow Ms. Snavely’s advice and and not write articles that offend my objective sensibilities.

Oh wait, they don’t have to worry about me rioting or cutting people’s heads off, so I guess it is OK to offend me?
