Douchbags doing douchie things
“Date Grape Koolaid” at new Spokane bar sparks controversy.
No shit?
Not that I have the money at this time or anything. But I’m thinking something pre-1975 might be a good idea in the not too distant future.
Because coming to a country near you…
EU has secret plan for police to ‘remote stop’ cars
The European Union is secretly developing a “remote stopping” device to be fitted to all cars that would allow the police to disable vehicles at the flick of a switch from a control room.
Confidential documents from a committee of senior EU police officers, who hold their meetings in secret, have set out a plan entitled “remote stopping vehicles” as part of wider law enforcement surveillance and tracking measures.
“The project will work on a technological solution that can be a ‘build in standard’ for all cars that enter the European market,” said a restricted document.
The devices, which could be in all new cars by the end of the decade, would be activated by a police officer working from a computer screen in a central headquarters.
Once enabled the engine of a car used by a fugitive or other suspect would stop, the supply of fuel would be cut and the ignition switched off.
And by suspect, they mean anyone the guy at the switch doesn’t like. Or that guy’s boss doesn’t like. Or that guy’s boss’ boss. Et cetera.
I know it is a government plan, and that government plans take longer than expected. But I see them using this “six year plan” to also figure out how to retrofit this into current models and anything with an ECU and tying the installation to your registration renewal.
I knew there was a reason I was looking into CJ-7’s recently.
That inflation affects the poor the hardest.
And if you ask a progressive, payday loans come in second.
And since they Democrats hate the poor on every day other than election day, they are going get in on that action
One of the key messages of tonight’s State of the Union address will be President Obama’s willingness to bypass Congress to create jobs and reduce inequality. As luck would have it, yesterday a new government report detailed an innovation that would preserve one of the largest job creators in the country, save billions of dollars specifically for the poor, and develop the very ladders of opportunity that Obama has championed as of late. What’s more, this could apparently be accomplished without Congressional action, but merely through existing executive prerogatives.
What’s the policy? Letting the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) offer basic banking services to customers, like savings accounts, debit cards and even simple loans. The idea has been kicked around policy circles for years, but now it has a crucial new adherent: the USPS Inspector General, who endorsed the initiative in a comprehensive white paper.
If you just said “oh, HELL no!” then congratulations! You’re sane!
You’re welcome, America.
Henry Waxman blames Tea Party for his decision to retire
I announced this past week that I will be retiring after having the honor of serving my Los Angeles constituents in Congress for 40 years.
Immediately, speculation began that I am leaving because I am frustrated with a broken institution. But the exact opposite is true: I am leaving Congress with my conviction intact that the legislative branch can be a powerful force for good.
Of course there are aspects of the current Congress that I abhor. This past week, every Republican on the Energy and Commerce Committee, where I have served most of my career, voted to limit the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to regulate carbon pollution that is causing climate change. When my colleague Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) offered a simple amendment affirming that climate change is real, they voted against that, too.
That kind of mindless denial of science is an embarrassment.
Voting over and over to repeal the Affordable Care Act, shutting down the government and threatening default are other deplorable examples of the extremism of tea party Republicans.
Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Hank.
A voter disillusionment panel
And a pair on the SotU
Personally, I like this one the best
I didn’t actually do that. I was, fortunately, in Fabrication Class that night.
Actually, that is a lie.
They actually say that those previous plans were crap that no one should have bought and that these new plans are better, so these folks should just suck it up.
Hi-Cube Container commercial buildings!

Also, follow the construction of the Sea Container Cabin here.
I do love listening in on my fellow student’s conversations as we all sit around in the classroom waiting for class to start in the morning. It’s how I stay “hip” with the youth of America.
Yesterday morning was no different. There is a group of four guys in the middle of the room playing cards with another five or six standing around watching the gameplay. Others are finishing off their homework or getting in a quickie breakfast snack. But they are all discussing the same thing:
Obama’s SOTU speech.
Specifically, the “income inequality” and “raise the minimum wage” bits.
In a nutshell, they know he’s full of shit and they’re having none of it. They really don’t like the Seattle City Council’s “Socialist Alternative” member, Kshama Sawant, and her “$15 an hour NOW!” shit either.
I realize that I am in a classroom full of guys learning highly industrialized skills and that the “Culinary Arts” or “Nursing” classes probably aren’t so fed up with the populist pap just yet, but they will be soon enough when it falls on it’s face.
While not every single one of them realize it, most of these guys know that so long as they stick with the program and keep their shit straight, they can finish the course and walk into $18-20 an hour jobs within a month of getting their degree (unlike the guy spending 4 years and $60k at the University of Washington).
They also know that this is likely one of the hardest things they’ll ever have to do. Not only do they have to learn a skill that requires pro-gamer level hand-eye coordination, the degree program also includes coursework involving Trigonometry, Chemistry, Metallurgy and Electrical Theory. Guys like myself are tacking on Fabrication courses which involve wickedly strange geometric formulas and Auto-CAD. All in 15 months. Some of these guys never finished high school and are working their asses off trying to keep up AND hold down at least part-time jobs.
There is no way any of them are going to let some hare-brained socialist hand $15 an hour to someone who slings coffee in the daytime for their inspiration to write shitty poetry at night. If there is going to be a “Second Industrial Revolution” in the US, as the signs are pointing towards, there will likely also be a “fiscal conservative revival” following it up closely.
Interesting times, indeed.
Yay! A new super bullet! /sarcasm off
About the only thing the new RIP round is good for, in my book, is the PSH coming from the hoplophobes on the left.
But according to Americans Against the Tea Party’s Richard Rowe, himself a weapons enthuisiast, the new bullet bears an unmistakeable resemblance to a tool of war banned by the Hague Convention (Hague IV 1907, Article 23E): Flechette rounds.
In a 1964 St. Petersburg Times article about the use of flechettes in Vietnam, a U.S. Army officer says of the medical task of treating flechette victims:
“Don’t kid yourself. It is not a job for a surgeon but for graves registration.”
Well, Richard. That is kind of the intention when I you are forced to shoot someone. Personally though, I won’t be doing any of that with this projectile. I already pay almost $2.00 per round for my Golden Sabers. This piece of ouch will probably be double that.
But all that aside, these types didn’t bat an eye during the last “cop-killer bullet” scare when it came to light that the LEO’s were gobbling up the supplies of the super-scary booolits as fast as they could.
Who here believes that this story would have made the rounds in the leftosphere if “G2 Research” had come out with this “shotgun, but nastier” ammo and said they would only sell it to law enforcement and other government agencies?
Those of you with your hands up need to go stand in the corner and think about what you just admitted to.
