Could there be a Lesson for Society as a Whole?

School throws away rulebook, bedlam reigns, kids turn out to be better citizens with less bullying, injuries.

This Week’s Message from the Democrat Party

n0labrIPSH1r7p8tto1

They know that the parents will not likely vote Democrat in the next go around, so they have to hope the kids will.

My Libertarian Problem

Richard A. Epstein over at The Hoover Institute writes about the difference between strict Libertarians and Classical Liberals. Read it and think on it.

I did and now I have a problem: I am both. When I think through an issue, my first thought is about the ideal, the Libertarian solution, and my second thought is about the practical, the Classical Liberal solution.

So I suppose I have to consider myself “both”.

However, this two minds thing gets really annoying.

And I blame the Republican and Democrat parties for screwing things up so badly that I have to be of two minds.

Get it while the gettin’s good

The Ammoman is having a loose cartridge sale again.

The last one was good. This one is better.

The deal itself is 150 rounds of mixed-brand brass .308 in a Plano ammo can for $57 delivered. There are no tracers in the mix. Quantities are extremely limited, we have 48 ammo cans to offer folks. Because of this limited opportunity, we are limiting customers to one ammo can per order.

That’s $0.38 per round. You can’t beat that with a stick. Well, I suppose you could, but why would you want to?

The deal opens up today at 1200 Eastern (0900 Pacific).

Here is your link to the deal.

A Simple Solution

Our “wise latina” Supreme Court Justice says that calling illegal immigrants “illegal immigrants” is insulting to them.

I am going to make this real easy: If they don’t want to be insulted by being called an illegal immigrant, don’t come here illegally.

These things are easily avoided though personal responsibility. Otherwise, we call like we see them.

I am insulted that someone thinks their position of power means they can restructure my language. But I am not a potential constituency for her political party, so I don’t count. In the future though, she should think about directing her insulting comments at those who don’t pay her salary.

Just like snow

It can be dangerous to let things get too caucasian.

Wait, I think I messed that analogy up.

No matter.

Brooklyn school cutting gifted program to boost diversity

A popular gifted program will get the axe after Ditmas Park school officials chose diversity over exclusivity.

Citing a lack of diversity, PS 139 Principal Mary McDonald informed parents in a letter that the Students of Academic Rigor and two other in-house programs would no longer accept applications for incoming kindergartners.

“Our Kindergarten classes will be heterogeneously grouped to reflect the diversity of our student body and the community we live in,” McDonald told parents in a letter posted on the photo-sharing site flickr and obtained by Ditmas Park Corner.

More than two thirds of the school’s roughly 1,000 students are black or hispanic while Asian-American and white students made up 28%, according to Education Dept. records.

At least one parent described the small gifted program, Students of Academic Rigor — or SOAR — as overwhelming caucasion, although others disputed that characterization.

McDonald didn’t respond to numerous requests for comment. A city Education Dept. spokeswoman said cutting the programs was the decision of the school.

One mother, a Sudanese immigrant, said the program was brimming with white students — but she was looking forward to her daughter joining after years of high test scores.

As with all socialism, they refuse to promote unequally shared skills and instead promote equally shared misery and ignorance.

Not all British comedians are anti-US dolts.

The best way for government to help people is to not to.
