Good Vibrations

In a post from earlier this year, I linked to a story that reported the results of a study on “Why Women Make Love?”

You can go here and see my first reponse.

And then you can go to the bottom of this post and see that my revised response was to suppose that I could probably make a Top 5 list of reasons. One of the reasons I listed was the aural frequency 40Hertz.

Last week, our good man of Boom, Joe Huffman, posted about a new iPod attachment called the “gPod”.

Ichiro Kameda, the president of a tiny, two-man company in Osaka, is currently embroiled in a bitter battle with computer maker Apple.

“Putting it simply, the fight is all over what I call our beat generator. There’s a small device with three different, sound-activated motors. It’s a revolutionary invention. You can plug it in to iPods or mobile phones. It can also be programmed to operate only for certain voices,” Kameda says, referring to his company’s product.

Kameda’s commercial pride and joy is actually a women’s sex aid worn inside her most intimate orifices and buzzing her with good vibrations when set off by sound.

Kameda may be in a fight with Apple, but I’ll bet that he is one of the most popular men in Japan.

And I think that his little invention will prove me right.

If you click on the link to Joe’s site, you’ll see that he queries as to whether or not I might have “some appropriate tunage”.

I think you can guess that answer. I’ll have a doubleshot of “appropriate tunage” on tomorrow’s Soundboard.

RNS Quote of the Day: 11/14/06

I forgot this yesterday

The truly and deliberately evil men are in a very small minority; it is the appeaser who unleashes them on mankind; it is the appeaser’s intellectual abdication that invites them to take over.

Ayn Rand – Altruism is Appeasement

I’m wearing their clothes right now

Not as creepy as it sounds. Let me explain.

My company uses Cintas for the uniform needs of the employees here. Myself, I’m only wearing one of their shirts, as is required under the new dress code. When my employer told me I’d only have to wear a shirt, I reminded them that it got cold in the office at night, and that I would enjoy to be allowed to wear pants as well.

They laughed, but it wasn’t a “Ha Ha!” laugh, it was more along the lines of “Oh my god, I hope he wears pants!” laugh.

The reason I am sharing this little anecdote with you is because said uniform company, Cintas , has put any and all workers whose Social Security numbers don’t square up on leave until they can provide proof of citizenship.

In an apparent crackdown on illegal immigrants that may signal more to come, Cintas, the large uniform manufacturer, placed six employees from its San Jose plant on unpaid leave Monday.

The move came after the workers failed to verify their Social Security numbers, a document required by employers to prove their workers have the right to be employedin the United States.

About 60 Cintas workers, labor organizers and immigrant advocates, rallying outside the East San Jose plant Monday afternoon, denounced the action. With 30,000 workers in five states, Cintas, is believed to be the first company in the country to enforce a controversial new regulation proposed and still under review by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The regulation requires employers to resolve the so-called Social Security “no-match” within two months of receiving a letter.

The idea that a company may be putting into effect rules and is thinking of  marketing the fact that they only employ legal residents is appealing to me. I’m glad that we use them and I am happy to wear their shirts. I’d wear their pants if my employer would let me.

BTW, my employer does said screenings before letting new hires on the property. Our competition does not. This pisses of my Teamster drivers to no end. Not only at the other company, but also at the current local union leadership for letting illegals become members.

Their bigotry is more than skin deep

It has sunk all the way to their cerebral cortex.

The Commonwealth of Masschusettes is attempting to ban BB guns.

You might think that Massachusetts can’t become any more anti-gun.

Well, think again.  Now there’s a proposal to ban BB guns in Massachusetts.  Complete with a BB gun amnesty period.  And a BB gun buyback program.

Millions of kids have grown up with BB and pellet guns.  I don’t know of any that were turned into criminals by their Daisy Red Ryder BB gun.

But that doesn’t matter to the politicians in Massachusetts.  They think BB guns are bad, and they want them outlawed.

In fact, these politicians not only plan to ban BB guns in Massachusetts, they’re sending letters to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island to ask those states to do the same.

In the words of one of these anti-gun politicians, their goal is to make “New England an area free of pellet guns and BB guns.”

Their next target after BB guns?

Cardboard cutouts.

Not to be blogrolled here

Via Say Uncle, we find that the Brady Campaign has a blog.

Via Uncle’s commenters, Marc and #9, we find that the Brady Campaign moderates the comments section of said blog, booting out any and all words that they find do not agree with their point of view of firearms.

Let freedom ring! (just so long as it isn’t the ring of copper jacketed projectiles against steel)

Hot off the presses

Its Propaganda!

A new United Nations children’s book promoting fears of catastrophic manmade global warming is being promoted at the UN Climate Change Conference in Kenya. The book’s main character, a young boy, is featured getting so worried about a coming manmade climate disaster that he yells “I don’t want to hear anymore!” The new children’s book, entitled “Tore and the Town on Thin Ice” is published by the United Nations Environment Programme and blames “rich countries” for creating a climate catastrophe and urges children to join environmental groups.

The book is about a young boy named Tore who lives in an Arctic village. Tore loses a dog sled race because he crashes through the thinning ice allegedly caused by manmade greenhouse gas emissions. The book features colorful drawings and large text to appeal to young children.

Cesca’s other main work of reason and logic was an indie film called “The War Effort” , which was “a mockumentary satirizing the nation’s knee-jerk patriotism which arose following 9/11”.

Wonderful, freedom loving people, those leftists.

Dare to be Stupid: 11/14/06

LitBrit, writing over at the Shakespeare’sSister blog (always a good spot for something stuipd) gushes all over Judith Warner’s NYT editorial that gushes all over Nancy Pelosi.

The editorial is a whining diatribe for Pelosi to “step up to the plate on behalf of the rest of America’s women – and their families.”

You can probably guess where this heading; socialized medicine, mandatory employer paid daycare, unearned pay raises all the way around and loads of vacation/sick time.

Litbrit whines on further

Finally, someone in the mainstream media has the nerve to say what many of us have been lamenting for years: we have lost sight of, and hope for, the notion that a normal, not-rich, American middle-class family can actually have time together, can actually enjoy their lives–and enjoy each other–on a daily basis as opposed to working nonstop all week, every week, and squeezing in bits and pieces of togetherness at holidays for the sake of the photo album. And we’ve abandoned the notion that getting sick or injured doesn’t have to mean going bankrupt, along with the notion that being paid enough to support a family without both parents having to work 60-hour weeks is something realistic and healthy.Worst of all, we’ve set aside the notion that there is something more to life than the Almighty Dollar, and we’ve had to do this. Not because we have coldly chosen the Almighty Dollar over the pleading eyes of kids who want an impromptu soccer game with Dad or a bedtime story from Mama, but rather, because the cost of living (rent or mortgage, food, health insurance, car payments, and clothing spring immediately to mind) in most metropolitan areas is so high, it simply isn’t possible to support even a small family–hell, an individual, in many cases–on a single income any more. Forget six-week vacations every summer, something the middle-class French family takes for granted. American families consider themselves lucky if the repo man isn’t darkening the door.

To start with, LitBrit completely ignores the fact that people put themselves in situation and that it is the duty of neither the government or the employer to bail them out of their oh-so-busy lives. If mom and dad can’t make ends meet because of the mortgage, car payments, credit card bills, etc, then maybe they should cut back on something.

I love it when a plan comes together

I also like it when I can say I’ve made a decision.

For those not here last week (tsk, tsk), I began a search for a new Main Battle Rifle (MBR) in preparation of the high probablilty of the new Congress’ sending new anti-gun legislation down the pike in the near future.

I first started with the venerable M1A, my all time favorite. However, due to issues consisting of initial cost, cost of accessories, and finally the availability and cost of parts, I decided that unless I win a moderate sized lottery, an M1A would not be in my future.

I that same linked post I asked folks of their opinions of the other two leading MBRs on the market: the FN/FAL and the HK91/G3 (and both of their various clones).

After some cosideration that included emailing a number of other bloggers whom I remembered having current expreience with said models, I have come to a decision.

Hello G3. You will be mine.

Factoring initial cost, reliability, parts availablility and cost and accessories availability and cost, the HK91/G3 won hands down. More specifically, the G3 clone made by JLD Enterprises, the PTR 91 , has won my money. An American made rifle, built on HK licensed equipment to original German specs. I have heard nothing bad about them from anyone: owners, friends of owners or dealers. Plus, by buying the PTR, you can still get into a new one for under ten Franklins (six of them if you’re willing to take a chance with a CETME), the mags are just about everywhere and the price reflects that, See-Thru/QD scope mounts are available and not too expensive and parts availability is good with prices varying from low-cost to average.

In addition, a guy who comes highly regarded from other folks I’ve talked to and read, the writer Boston T. Party, regards the G3 very highly, with people like MKH100 at AlphaRubicon paraphrasing him saying “It just doesn’t break.” I’ve seen Boston T’s name around in various circles before and during this search and have asked folks about him. Like I said before, he is highly regarded and I think I can take his opinion at face value. Check out some of the other links at AlphaRubicon main page when you get a moment.

This weekend should see me ordering/buying my first one. And if I have any luck at all, I should be able to make this customized PTR91 my latest aquisition

I’ll post again when I know the financials on Friday AM.

“Hey Dummy, We’re Better For You!”

That is the message John Avarosis of AmericaBlog has for the American people.

Even in victory, the American people can be so clueless

At (best) some the American people need to grow up. If they aren’t ready for us to leave Iraq, then fine: stay in Iraq. More American soldiers will die for no reason, the civil war will get worse, we will be directly responsible for breeding even more terrorists, and we’ll probably have a draft sometime over the next two years. But if that’s what it will take for the American people to learn that history is not without consequences, then so be it. I see no reason that Democrats should fall on their swords so that the American people and the Republicans can avoid taking responsibility for their actions.

This rant comes from his seeing a Newsweek poll on the new Democrat leadership of Congress that that isn’t glowing

While a bare majority of 51 percent called the Democrats’ victory “a good thing,” even more said they were concerned about some of the actions a Democratic Congress might take, including 78 percent who were somewhat or very concerned that it would seek too hasty a withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

Another 69 percent said they were concerned that the new Congress would keep the administration “from doing what is necessary to combat terrorism,” and two-thirds said they were concerned it would spend too much time investigating the administration and Republican scandals.

So you’d better shape “Average American” , you have no idea what is best for you. so just sit down and shut up and let the leftists tell you about it!
