An 8th grade American History classroom in Novi, MI, a suburb of Detroit a question was posed to the students:

“Which would you rather be: A slave or a factory worker during the Industrial Revolution?”

The essay was assigned to be completed in class, and the teacher stated that he did not want any parental involvement.

Steve Matthews, Superintendent of the Novi Community School District, said the essay was based on a Michigan Content Expectation, in which 8th grade students were asked to be able to explain the differences in the lives of free blacks — including those who escaped from slavery — with the lives of free whites and enslaved people.

“The majority of the class felt that they would rather be a slave than to be a factory worker. And she was just extremely confused by that, knowing what slaves went through, she couldn’t understand why anyone would choose that,” James said. “The rationale by those students to choose slaves was that they had free housing, they had free food and they had free protection. But the argument that she and I put forth was that those things were not free.”

They have successfully created a class of people who would rather have free stuff than freewill.

Congratulations, Democratic Party.

Whites unwelcome at college diversity ‘happy hour’

Olympia, WA – South Puget Sound Community College says it was a mistake for an employee group to invite only people of color to a diversity “happy hour.”

The group that sent out the email last week apologized the next day and canceled the event, said Kellie Purce Braseth, dean of college relations.

The invitation to all 300 staffers said the “Staff, Faculty and Administrators of Color” encouraged employees to reply to the invitation to find out the confidential date and time of what was being called a “happy hour” to “build support and community” for people of color.

The invite made it clear white people were not welcome.

“If you want to create space for white folks to meet and work on racism, white supremacy, and white privilege to better our campus community and yourselves, please feel free to do just that,” the email read.

Karama Blackhorn, program coordinator for the school’s Diversity and Equity Center, helped write the invitation.

It could have been worded differently, but she maintains the staff members of color would have a more honest discussion about race without white employees.

Yep. Mz. Blackhorn could have all the “Hate Whitey” she wanted if there weren’t any actual white people there. Which is why she worded the invite that way.
