It used to be the initials of British Columbia

But now, in the context of speaking of the governing body there, B.C. will forever be known to mean “Batshit Crazy”.

A new carbon tax on gasoline rapidly generated plenty of heat among summer visitors and British Columbia residents alike at filling stations Tuesday.

The plan is being phased in over five years to help drivers to understand the cost associated with generating greenhouse gases.

At present dollar exchange rates it starts at about nine cents a gallon, rising to 29 cents a gallon by 2012.

In Vancouver, customers at gas stations were pumped about the plan, many of them unhappily.

Stephanie Bincinto, who recently moved to the province from Quebec for her job as a flight attendant, said the high price of gasoline convinced her to use taxicabs rather than buy a new car.

“It sucks,” she said, pumping regular gas costing roughly $5.80 U.S. a gallon into a rental truck she was using for the move. “I was looking to buy a new one, but now with the price of gas I’m not interested.

Oh, the joys of creeping socialism.

So, how’s that health care treating you?

Oh, not that well I see.

Becoming the 51st State doesn’t look so bad now, does it?

Brilliant!

The anonymous gay plaintiff in the San Francisco gun-ban case is named Guy Montag Doe.

For those who don’t get it, the name refers to the protagonist of this book.

Kudos to Jason Davis of Trutanich-Michel, who came up with the idea.

The Death of TV

is the graveyard of old TV shows. Why do I need cable, when I can just watch old episodes of my favorites on Hulu?

They’ve got Rockford, Emergency! (which revealed to me my love of boxes with lots of little compartments), and others. All free for the watching. Ahh, sweet memories.

The Devil Went Down to Georgia

That is how the gun bigots see Heller.

And Hot-Lanta is going to have free citizens, come Heller or high water.

The nation’s busiest airport dueled with gun rights advocates Tuesday over whether a new Georgia state law allows visitors to carry firearms at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

City officials in charge of the airport declared it a “gun-free zone” when a law allowing people to carry guns on public transit and other places took effect Tuesday. Gun rights supporters, including a state legislator who helped pass the law, quickly filed a lawsuit in federal court challenging the designation.

It is good to see a legislator doing more than flapping his lips in the state house or resting on his laurels in his taxpayer provided office.

The gun group argues that weapons should be allowed in the terminal up to the point where passengers pass through security to board their flights. The parking lot is off limits under the state law, but it allows travelers to carry a gun on MARTA trains and buses, which run directly to the airport.

Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin said citizens can’t bring guns into the terminal and argued that airports remain attractive targets for terrorism.

And exactly which law abiding citizen has committed a terrorist act at an airport with their legally owned firearm? I’m sorry Ms. Franklin, but the history of these types of attacks is escaping me.

In fact, it is the non-law abiding citizen who wanders on into to hold his own personal shooting spree that keeps me wanting to legally carry my firearm in public places.

Allowing citizens to carry firearms “would create an environment that would endanger millions of people,” she said.

Ahh, the “Personal Sidearm as a Weapon of Mass Destruction” ploy. Been there, heard that, considered it complete hyperbole.

Franklin said she will lobby Congress to withhold federal funds from facilities that allow firearms on their premises.

You mean, like the City Hall of Atlanta? I’m absolutely sure that her personal security contingent carries firearms. And they do have to be on the premises to fulfill their duties.

Oh, she is only talking about letting Regular People carry firearms. Those people aren’t important enough to need any protection.

If she does get up the gumption to fight this, I believe her next election run will be rather interesting.

Listen to the woman, man

Ms. Accent, Arianna Huffington, has some advice for Barack Obama: Keep to the Left

I, for one, hope he listens to her.

McCain may be the Repub’s compromise candidate, but he will at least be electable come October. Whereas the moonbats that Obama keeps surrounding himself with are his #1 problem. If he finds a way to shoo them away or shut them up, then McCain will be in trouble.

The same goes for his policies. If people are able to find out more about what is underneath the shiny veneer of “The Obama plan for your life” they have a tendency to tilt their head like a dog who has heard a curious sound and ask themselves if they can support that.

Out the two together and you have a hand that even the race card can’t beat.

Notice how the left is gathering up for one huge anti-Christian hatefest since the Obama campaign announced that it wants to not only reconfigure Bush’s insipid “Faith Based Initiatives” program, but to also multiply it’s scope.

That is not going to sound like a place to hang out to the Evangelicals Obama is attempting to court from the Repub base.

Lastly, I’d like to point out that the Napoleon of the dKos Animal Farm and Petting Zoo has publicly stated that he will withhold monetary donations from the Obama campaign until Obama tacks left again.

This is proof that Kos and his minions understand the concept of rewarding wanted behavior and that they believe that Obama also understands the idea.

How come then, they support federal policies that punish wanted behavior, and even worse, reward unwanted behavior? For example: Have a baby before you graduate high school and suckle the nanny state teat for life.

I was under the assumption that they didn’t grasp the concept. Now that I know differently, I am now just having to guess that they do just hate anyone who makes enough money to pay taxes.

He Won’t let anything stand in the way of Utopia

Not even the Bill of Rights

Dennis Herrera, City Attorney for San Francisco is moving full speed ahead with the stepping on the civil rights of those who pay for his employment.

“I intend to vigorously defend our commonsense City ordinances that protect public safety from gun violence. On the basis of the law as it exists today, I am confident that our local gun control measures are on sound legal footing and will survive legal challenges.

Ahh yes, those “common sense City ordinances” like a gun confiscation quota and no legally owned and carried firearms on city property.

Just how have those been working for you all, Herrera? Apparently so well that you keep having to come up with more of them when the first ones don’t actually work.

“Having said that, I am considerably less confident about what may happen as this Supreme Court’s conservative majority takes up Second Amendment issues in the future.

Which “conservative majority” is he talking about? After all, each of the nine Justices agreed that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right? While that is a majority, only the most hardened Marxist would consider more than five of the Justices “conservative”.

But maybe Herrera is a hardened Marxist?

“With its ruling in Heller, the U.S. Supreme Court identified an individual right in the Second Amendment that no court ever held to exist in two centuries until this case.

His law school perfessers should be allowed to go whack him on the back of the head after saying that.

“So, while nothing in Heller invalidates or even endangers gun restrictions in San Francisco, I’m deeply concerned about this Court’s direction, and how it may affect laws intended to protect public safety in the future.”

From what I can see, your public is considerably less safe now than they would be if you and Newsome would quit disarming them.

On a less serious note, I just can’t take this guy seriously. His picture looks as though Steve Carrell is trying to impersonate Stephen Colbert. In high school. On Senior Picture Day.

I almost couldn’t read the article, I was laughing so hard when I saw it.

I never knew the degree even existed

Alison Link has a Masters Degree in “Recreation and Leisure Studies”.

Now, I’m not talking about a degree like the PhD I have in “Sitting on my ass and doing nothing”. I’m telling you that this woman is a doctoral candidate at Yeshiva University now that she has her M.A. from NYU.

She belongs to a group that calls themselves Take Back Your Time and sponsors the Take Back Your Vacation Initiative.

Today at the HuffPo she has a post about the “Leisure Famine” going on in America.

In her “educated” opinion, the only solution is for all people, men and women, and boys and girls in their state sponsored primary schools, to be educated on how to sit around on their asses doing nothing.

Ooops, I mean “achieving a State of Leisure”.

But at least we can all rest assured that neither Ms. Link or her friends at Take Back Your Time are going to over-work themselves making sure this comes to pass. Otherwise they’d be hypocrites.

It would be a hell of a lot easier

To be angry about having to vote for McCain if I’d quit hearing good stuff about him.

(David posted about this below, but I want to say something about this new info)

First McCain says he wants 50 nuclear energy plants built in the next decade so that I can power the plug in car I’ve been wanting without browning out the grid.

And now I hear that he likes to manhandle Sandinistas.

John McCain engaged in a physical confrontation in 1987 with a left-wing Sandinista leader during a diplomatic meeting in Nicaragua, according to one of his colleagues, Sen. Thad Cochran, a Mississippi Republican.

Notably mild-mannered, Cochran startled many people earlier this year with comments about McCain’s volatile temper, but has since mended fences with the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Still, Cochran told the Sun Herald of Biloxi, Miss., on Monday that he’d witnessed a confrontation between McCain and a Sandinista leader that shocked him, in which McCain “got mad at the guy and he just reached over there and snatched him.”

Fuckin’ A!

Fourteen years after of the Hanoi Hilton and the guy’s grabbing commie fucks and givin’ em the once over with the back of his hand.

If the guy promises to do that once a month in the White House Rose Garden on live TV, I’ll even donate to his campaign.

McClatchy probably thought they were making McCain look bad by publishing this. They’re idiots.

OMG I’m In Love

…with a website. In their radio show, Squeaky and Ahab mentioned a new blog, Home on the Range. I checked it out, and on the sidebar were books from her library. Library Thing catalogs books in your library online. I’ve been waiting for something like this since my book collection outgrew my closet in high school.

Join or Die

The Packing Rat has it exactly right. (Love the new Desolation Wilderness banner, btw!) As I said in Battle Cry: Eureka! much of the fight, for the next decade, to smash each and every gun-ban law will take place here in California — because that’s where the laws are. They have to be fought here first, and well, in order to provide the Federal courts with good cases to fix our RKBA rights in stone once and for all.

Donate to the cause, please!

“any California donor making a donation to NRA-ILA, the NRA Civil Rghts Defense Fund (501(c)(3)), CRPA, or CRPA Foundation (501(c)(3)) can count on that money (and then some) being spent in California.”
