I’m sure that their excuse will be some such piddling tripe.

There are allegations of voter fraud, as a Dougherty County family claims the vote of a mentally challenged relative was stolen.They say the adult day rehab program where Jack Justice attends took him to vote, without the family’s permission. What’s worse is Justice says the person helping him wouldn’t cast the ballot for his choice for President.

Jack Justice has been voting since he turned 18. Typically his family takes him to their neighborhood precinct. This time Primus Industries, his adult day rehab program, took him to vote. His family was shocked, but what shocked them more was that Jack claims that his aide commandeered his vote.

“They told me to vote for Obama, I said no I wanted to vote for McCain,” said Jack Justice, a voter.

Jack Justice says the person helping him, selected Obama’s name. His sister says the family is often asked to sign a permission slips for trips, but for this they were never notified.

That was two weeks ago. This is from yesterday.

The California Republican Party is asking the secretary of state to investigate an organized voting campaign involving developmentally disabled adults in Tuolumne County.

As many as ten clients of the Thumbs Up! adult care center have already cast absentee ballots under the supervision of center director David Simerley, and nearly all of them were for Barack Obama.

“We all registered to vote and we all sat together as a group and went over our ballots and voted,” Simerley told News10.

Among those voting was Michael Rascon, 56, whose father described him as having the mental capacity of a 5-year-old.

“What kind of people would do this to somebody like that,” asked Sam Rascon, who discovered his son had registered and voted only after seeing him with an Obama button last Thursday. “He wouldn’t know one candidate from another.”

News10 spoke to Michael Rascon at the Thumbs Up! center about the election. When asked which candidate he’d voted for, Rascon answered “the black man.” He was unable to remember Obama’s name.

Cooper Firearms Responds

That was fast. I just received this email from Dan Pickett of Cooper Firearms in response to my letter, immediately below this post.

Unlike a lot of big corporations these days, at Cooper Firearms the board actually appears to wield authority. Good for them. They will get my business.

In response to the recent article highlighting Dan Cooper’s personal political donations, the board of directors, shareholders and employees of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc would like to issue the following statement.

The employees, shareholders and board of directors of Cooper Firearms of Montana do not share the personal political views of Dan Cooper.

Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms.

The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President of Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc.

Daily operations will continue with the competent staff currently in place in Stevensville, MT producing the finest, most accurate rifles money can buy.

Dan Cooper has spent all of his working life producing the highest quality rifles built here in the USA. He started with nothing but the American Dream and built that into firearms company anyone would be proud of. We firmly believe Dan stands by the 2nd amendment.

We wish him all of the best in his future pursuits.

Incidentally, I’m well aware that as Cooper Firearms is a privately-owned business, Dan Cooper may well continue to retain a majority of the shares in the company, and thus continue to profit personally from any firearms I may buy from them. To me, that’s irrelevant. Lots of shareholders of Ruger, S&W Holdings and the like are guaranteed to be lefty nutjobs because they’re publicly-traded companies and anybody can buy shares. What’s important is the public position of the company and of the management that runs it. Even if Dan Cooper remains as a backroom influence, or even as the majority shareholder, he’s learned to shut up where gun rights are concerned. Cooper Firearms has done the right thing here, and now — as with Remington beforehand in the Jim Zumbo affair — IMO we should applaud and support Cooper Firearms, Inc. for doing it so quickly.

Cooper Letter

I expect few, if any, gunbloggers own a Cooper, lusted after a Cooper, or even knew what a Cooper was until the recent flap over CEO Dan Cooper’s public support for Obama. (Note: Coopers are ultra-accurate, semi-custom rifles costing several thousand dollars each.) Well, I wanted one. I wanted more than one. And now I’m gonna take my business elsewhere.

Here’s a slightly edited version of an email I just sent to Dan Cooper:

RE: Canceling my Cooper Dreams

Hello,

I’m a corporate attorney in California who only became involved in rifle-shooting over the last four years. I’ve become a long-range shooting aficionado, attending Boomershoot and various long-range rifle and pistol events every year. I quickly became aware of Cooper’s reputation for accuracy and workmanship, and have been lusting over the various Coopers highlighted in the back issues of the Varmint Hunter and Small Caliber News magazines. As a southpaw, I was especially pleased to see that Cooper would build rifles with left-hand actions, and so I had planned to begin 2009 purchasing what would have been the first of several Cooper rifles in each of my favorite calibers, as well as working with your shop to craft one or more custom long-range specialty pistols for my use in annual competitions. After learning of your CEO’s public statement in favor of Senator Obama, I have canceled those plans with regret.

As a Californian, an NRA Life Member and an honorary board member of [redacted,] a California gun-rights group supporting the Nordyke 2nd-amendment case that will likely result in application of the Heller Supreme Court decision to the various States, I am perhaps more aware than most of the risk posed by Senator Obama to our fundamental civil rights. I am appalled that your CEO would make the public pronouncement he did at this critical time for gun owners. Cooper Firearms has lost my business for good. I intend to use what influence I have in the affluent California shooting community to help others make that decision as well.

Coming to a town near you

Delaware State Police stopped Alvina Vansickle from purchasing a .22-caliber pistol for self-defense because she was too old and a woman, said Superintendent Col. Thomas MacLeish.

The outrage that followed led to the revelation that Delaware State Police had been keeping lists of gun buyers for years; state law requires them to destroy these records after 60 days.Without so much as a traffic ticket, the 81-year-old Lewes resident should have sailed through the mandatory state police background check when she tried to buy a Taurus revolver from Charlie Steele’s Lewes gun shop last August.

Problems started after Steele made the required phone call to state police for approval of the firearms transaction.

An employee in the state police Firearms Transaction Approval Program noticed Vansickle’s age and gender, and brought the sale to an immediate halt.

Because older women never, ever have a need to defend themselves, you see. When predatory sapien scumbags see a little old lady, they automatically deter from their instincts and move on to the next potential victim. The FTAP employee knew of this and decided that she would have no other reason to purchase a firearm.

Remind those that would vote for Obama that anything he “giveth” he can also “taketh away”. And I would gather that since the last Democrat led administration saddled up with the federal NICS (aka: The Stupid Phone Call), a new one would make them this arbitrary.

But this is the even scarier part of the story

Word of the delay rebounded around Delaware’s small-firearms community, eventually making its way to Dave Lawson, a retired state police lieutenant and firearms instructor. Lawson spoke to his former colleague Nefosky about Vansickle’s dilemma, Lawson said.

Lawson said what Nefosky told him revealed there was a much larger problem in the firearms approval unit than keeping a small-caliber revolver out of the hands of an 81-year-old woman.

Lawson said Nefosky told him he searched seven years of firearms transaction records to see if Vansickle had ever bought a gun before.

Some gun owners fear any government agency that tracks gun purchases or keeps lists of who has them. They worry these lists could someday aid in weapons confiscation, fall into the wrong hands and serve as a road map for burglars and thieves, or result in increased scrutiny by law enforcement.

“I was totally drop-jawed,” Lawson said. “I asked him how far back the records went. He didn’t know. He didn’t care. He felt she was possibly a threat because of her age, a threat to herself or her family. That’s what the implication was.

I would guess that a large number of gun owners worry about these lists being abused. And now we have an example showing that they have good reason to do so.

The FTAP employee and Nefosky both deserve to be relieved of their employment, as well as the former heads of the department, at least seven years back. (Found via Target Rich Environment)

Because if this idea becomes reality, which the example below shows is highly likely under an Obama Administration, we’re going to need to have some examples set for future know-it-all busy bodies like the unnamed FTAP employee.

The Outdoor Wire has confirmed from confidential sources that the “transition team” for the Democratic candidate has already begun looking into the current approval system for firearms transactions. It seems the digital recordkeeping approval recently granted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) has piqued their curiosity. With a virtual Form 4473 in existence, we should be on the lookout for a new record-keeping initiative that will “simplify” the hassles of off-site digital record storage by allowing FFLs to, say, store the information on secure governmental servers. Of course, the government will never access the information.

I mean really, why wait until your guy actually gets elected to piss off a hundred million Americans? (Found via Uncle)

After all, if you’re so racist that you refuse to vote for Obama, why should they not track all your firearm purchases, right Tbogg?

Perhaps it’s the economy or maybe  it’s Fear of a Barack Planet, but Americans are scooping up guns  by the armload (also seen here) because, come the revolution, wild hordes of white guilt-tripped liberals will begin roaming the countryside looting, plundering, socialisming, tipping over barbeques and kidnapping nubile young white females between the ages of 18 and 24 to be handed over to their Zulu overlords for their rapacious pleasure.Or something like that.

Not exactly the best way to promote an issue

Next week, Washingtonians will decide whether or not they want to legalize assisted suicide with Initiative 1000.

I’ll be voting in favor of it, because I’m not going to let the government tell me both how I have to live and when they will allow me to die.

That, and I think that more people getting themselves voluntarily offed may lead to SSI actually having a little money left in it when it finally comes my time to collect.

But I don’t think that the local leftist bloggers also in support of I-1000 are helping the cause by saying stupid shit like this

Think about what happened on 9/11 for a second. If you remember, there were people trapped on the highest floors of the second World Trade Center building who instead of perishing in the inferno behind them, decided to jump to their deaths. Should their death certificates say that they committed suicide?

I’d say that this asshole was comparing apples and oranges, but that just makes me want stuff produce up his ass to shut him the fuck up (organically grown produce, of course).

It’s a great analogy I hadn’t heard before. The Catholic Church, the main backer of the No campaign, considers suicide to be a mortal sin. So… did the 9/11 WTC jumpers commit suicide? Or were they murdered by terrorists?

The fact that he has to ask the question shows that his last pair of remaining brain cells are arguing over which one of them farted.

That’s Entertainment

last night NPR hosted a debate on Gun Control at Rockefeller University as part of their “Intelligence Squared” series.

One of the panel was Seattle Chief of Police, Gil Kerlikowske

Joining Kerlikowske are five others, including Paul Helmke, the director of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, as well as Stephen Halbrook, the National Rifle Association attorney who has filed lawsuits challenging bans on handguns in Chicago and Washington, D.C.”It’s a little different forum for police chief to be in — at Rockefeller University in New York City in an ‘Oxford style’ debate,” Kerlikowske said from his hotel room.

“I think they just wanted a practitioner. I think they wanted a little more color added to it, a little more practical viewpoint.”

Under Oxford-style rules, two teams will be asked to argue for and against a motion, which in this case is the statement “Guns reduce crime.” The debate is expected to center on what effect personal gun ownership has on deterring or increasing crime rates.

Kerlikowske said research is “clear” that the more guns in the community, the more that are in circulation for criminals to get their hands on.

“When there are more guns, there are more guns used in suicides, and more guns used in domestic violence. And where there are more guns in more homes, there are more accidental shootings, including shootings by children,” he said.

And when he says “Children” he means 19 year old gang members, because those are the statistics he gets handed to him by the anti-civilian ownership of firearms groups he cavorts with.

But you’ll hear no mention that Kerlikowske has done more to put guns in the hands of criminals that 99% of the firearms owning persons residing within his jurisdiction.

The reason I’m going to try and tune in when this gets broadcast is that Kerlikowske has a bit of a short fuse and can run on at the mouth without prepared remarks. When his “talking points” get taken to the cleaners by Halbrook and Crew, he might say something entirely and completely insane.

So keep your ears open, and if you get the chance to listen to the program do so. You may just get to hear the Forrest Gump of Seattle Law Enforcement Community recall what his “Mama Always Said” (his “Mama” being Ceasefire Washington).

If one Bill of Rights is good

Not so much

U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D. Toledo) whipped the crowd up before Mr. Obama took the stage yesterday telling them that America needed a Second Bill of Rights guaranteeing all Americans a job, health care, homes, an education, and a fair playing field for business and farmers.

And not a word of disassociation from The Lightworker on this topic.

Must not have had it loaded up into his teleprompter or something, I’m sure.

Not backing down

Every night, during my lunch break, a subscribe to my self imposed “Two Minutes of Hate”. It keeps the fire in the belly.

I make a quick run through the hate-filled leftist uber blogs and try to keep my food down (and try not to spray it across my employer supplied flatscreen monitor when one of these nimrods says something completely insane).

I found two last night that I would really like to share with you.

The first is from the FireDogLake blog, who, if they didn’t hate, would have no reason to exist. The never sensible Ian Welsh posts a personal request for help for Jack Murtha

But when it came time to step up on the war, Murtha did it, and he did it under heavy fire. It would have been far easier for him, far safer for him, to have laid low and kept supporting the war, or even to have opposed it in a low key way. Now he may pay the price, not just for that, but for daring to say the obvious, that Western Penn has a lot of racists. Stupid thing to say politically, but once again, Murtha called it as he saw it. More guts than a slaughterhouse, we used to call it. Americans say they want politicians to tell them the truth, but here’s the truth, telling the truth is bad for your political health.

I guess what Ian is trying to say is that Jack Murtha has been put into his House seat by racists since 1974. Wouldn’t that, by even the slightest sense of rational thought, make him a racist as well, because he politicked for and accepted their votes?

Oh wait, I forgot, Murtha is not a Republican, so that slanderous turd of an oxygen thief gets to share the Byrd Shield of Deniability.

The second piece I had to actually read twice to make sure that it wasn’t a joke.

Member of the Daily Kos Animal Farm and Petting Zoo, sad pony guerrilla girl (yes that is her actual handle), watched the Sunday blowhards and comes to the conclusion that if it wasn’t for capitalists, the whole would would be full of happy ponies (or something). This is going to take some excerpting to get the full dose of hate across.

Consider, for example, McCain’s new Joe the Plumber stories. When McCain first mentioned him in the third debate, I just rolled my eyes. I’ve judged and coached enough high school debaters to know a common, annoying, and lame debate tactic coming up when I see one, and this one was just screaming it. Joe the Plumber was worried that he’d be taxed more under Obama’s tax plan, a plan that would leave everyone who makes under $250,000 unscathed, if passed in its current form.

Obama said that, and McCain responded by saying that Joe was looking to buy his employer’s plumbing business. That would put his income substantially over $250,000, meaning he’d have to pay more in taxes.

And now that I’m back in a battleground state, I’m seeing this ad all the time:

All I can hear is “I can’t do math” over and over again in that ad.

The problem is that there are significant number of Americans who believe that they’re going to be millionaires one day. They think that if they work hard then a six- or seven-figure income will just come to them.

And as Joe the Plumber so brilliantly demonstrates, that means that their loyalty is transferred upwards. Of course more taxes on the wealthy means more taxes on me! I know I’m going to be rich one day!

It’s a perversion of what the American Dream is supposed to inspire, since people who haven’t yet achieved what they want to achieve financially work hard to make sure that others won’t be able to get into the middle class since they won’t want to share the wealth when they get there. The irony is that they prevent themselves from reaching a decent quality of life in the process, since they themselves are the ones who have to be kept out of the millionaires club.

Apparently, spgg doesn’t know anyone who has worked the first half of their lives to become wealthy enough to live comfortably for the second half of their lives. I know more than a dozen. I also know that if I work hard and save smart, spend smart and invest smart, that I too will join their ranks in the future.

spgg needs to realize that economies aren’t zero sum. That money is always expanding, transferring, being spent and earned, or as she would probably put it “Lost and Won”. She probably believes it to be fact that “rich people” hoard their money.

And because of these childish beliefs, she doesn’t have the slightest idea where the money to buy her home came from. Though, looking at her loser attitude she probably believes that owning real estate is some sort of sin against the government.
