Today’s band selection has nothing to do with the incoming administration’s campaign slogan. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed a similar, somewhat small “l” libertarian bent to their tunage?

I don’t know how or who to submit this question to, but when some of the members of Yes broke off to form Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe, why they didn’t just call the new band “Maybe”.

After all, it wasn’t quite “Yes”.

And those were the thoughts that kept me from the top of the Honor Roll in high school.

But since those on the left are, essentially, children, and the fact that they hate Friedman with a passion that comes within 1/4MOA of BDS, I fear that they will not discover this until it is too late.

They will gleefully cheer at his weekly castigations against those he disagrees with via YouTube (as FDR did using his Fireside Chats). They will not seem to notice major civil rights abuses during his second administration. And when the camps used to house his civil project “workforce” get put to a different use, they will just sit, their mouths agape. And silently be glad that it wasn’t they who had pissed the guy off.

Well, it’s not a picture as you can see, it’s really a video — of Dan T. and his Mighty Machine doin’ their stuff at Boomershoot 2008.

I think it’s a 1919A4? Rechambered to 8mm Mauser so it can shoot the bulk surplus 8mm ammo.

Joe Huffman opened 2008 with this quote. Sadly, they didn’t follow the advice he included with the quote.

However, I think that with 2008 seeing me finally become a real property owner, that it was a good year and that this quote is suitable to end the year with.

I’ll have another one to lead off the year with tomorrow, but until then, I have a meet up with Chad of Dogtulosba and MyBrotherisaDirtyLeg at Wade’s that I need to pack up for. Invites are still open for those who wish to join us.

The King of All Lists

Local rock station KZOK will be tying the bow on the 2008 edition of their Top 1000 Classic Rock Songs of All Time over the next two days, with #1 being played at the stroke of midnite January 1st.

They do this every year, and the above linked list does change some year-to-year. While I disagree with theplacement of more than a couple of the tracks on the list, I never fail to hear something I like when I tune in during the last week of December, or just about any time for that matter (though they do tend to worship Led Zepplin a bit harder than I believe is healthy).

You can also stream KZOK from that link. And I highly suggest it. The last two days rock the hardest.

We’re working on it

And when I say “we”, I mean my co-workers and I.

Blustery winds whipped uncollected recycling and garbage through streets and alleys Monday, frustrating and infuriating residents who set it out as instructed by the city over the weekend or before going back to work.

Others struggled to understand how a snowstorm without complications of power outages or major flooding could paralyze the city and delay basic services, such as garbage and recycling collection for weeks.

Jim Conchie of South Seattle said his garbage hadn’t been picked up since two weeks before Christmas.

He said Mayor Greg Nickels should stop pushing ambitious global climate initiatives and concentrate on core city services, such as garbage pickup and snow removal.

“It’s time for the mayor to give up all his high-flying fantasies and get back to providing basic services,” said Conchie, who lives east of Columbia City.

Conchie said the high winds had blown trash throughout his neighborhood, making it look like “a Third World city.”

While I agree with Mr. Conchie, I believe that he is failing to see the reasoning behind Mayoral Unit Nickels’ thinking. Nickels’ philosophy is that America has had it too easy these past few decades and really needs to feel the pain of those third world nations.

And by “Feel the Pain” I mean wallow in trash, be unable to get anywhere unless you walk, and be disarmed by government mandate.

It is just part of the philosophy of the eco-socialist movement that also includes having the inside of your living space be the same temperature as the outside, and not bathing regularly.
