Worst. Inauguration. Ever.

Not my opinion. That is the opinion over at the uber-leftist FireDogLake blog.

So, I don’t even know how to write about this without it sounding like bitter grousing, and frankly, I’m a little embarrassed to have to report that after five hours of standing in the bitter cold, getting pushed and shoved to the point where you start to feel for your safety, and being herded to and fro, the most I can report about the inauguration is that the 21-gun salute is really loud.

The lines for the Purple Tickets and the lines for the Yellow Tickets crisscrossed at numerous points causing every bit of the road-blocking mayhem you would imagine.

Over the next 90 minutes, I traced a circle with a diameter of no more than 20 feet. We then came to a stop just outside a fence within within full view of the metal detectors and the uniforms that were staffing them.

And, there I stood. I stood next to women from Florida who had saved for months to make this trip. I stood next to a woman separated by the crowd from her husband. I stood next to people who had been standing in that same spot since 5am. . . since, in one case, 3am.

And it gets funnier from there.

So, from this day forward, unless they start rounding people up to put them in camps, there will be no comparing the Democrats or the government of DC to the German National Socialist Party. Because unlike these freaks, the Nazis would have had a crowd control plan that worked.

Didn’t watch it. Didn’t care. Read the speech while eating lunch at work last night. Obama basically insulted half of America with his well-speechified, though uninspiring, drivel.

Just who was he asking to set aside their “childish things”? It certainly wasn’t anyone I know.

So now, our long national nightmare has begun.

There is a hoopla currently bubbling over Limbaugh stating that he hopes Obama’s liberalism fails. Folks are purposely ignoring the context of his statement and blaring about how he said he hopes America fails under Obama.

I too have been mistook in this regard.

I have a long list of Obama ideas I hope fail so that America can succeed. My topmost one is this

Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

I hope he fails so hard on this that his balls hurt afterwards.

Four Score and Seven / Seven Score and Four

The poet and history junkie in me are hoping that Obama (or his speechwriter) noticed the parallels above.

Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address mentioned the Founding, “four score and seven years ago.”

Well, 2009 is seven score and four (144) years from the year the Civil War was won and slavery ended.

It’d just add a nice rhetorical touch. Hope somebody else noticed it in time to put it in the inaugural address.

I can’t quite figure out why today is being called “historic”. I’m told that he is to be our first black President or some such, but I was brought up not to notice those kinds of things. I was told it was rude.

Nonetheless, I know I’ll need some tunage to get through it, and I figure you will as well.

Support your local rifleartist

Even if you’re not local.

Over the weekend I went and visited the Renton F&G rifle range with Carnaby Fudge and did some catching up wit Glenn, the rifle and pistol range Rangemaster. It had been far too many moons since I’d stopped by and was glad to hear he was doing well.

One of the highlights of our conversation was an update on the artwork he had just started to produce at the time of my last visit.

RifleArt is Glenn’s home on the internet. It is a gallery and blog where he both shows and talks about the art he creates with hyper-velocity projectiles. I encourage everyone to take a few clicks through there and get a look at what he is doing.

Being a new homeowner with plenty of empty wall space, I will be purchasing and showcasing one or more of his works in the not too distant future.

Most likely this one. Even if I have to buy it one panel at a time.

On a side note, the words “Sniper” and “Rifle” have been killing his ability to get a gallery showing. The folks show interest until they find out his technique. So if you have an idea for a phrasing he could use that would both attract gunnies and not frighten the hoplophobes, feel free to leave it in the comments here.

Too good for him

The UK justice system is not like the US justice system in many ways.

For one example, ours works, most of the time.

Their’s, not so much.

A yob accused of robbing a driving instructor walked free from court – after a judge ruled that the victim was too believable as a witness.

Judge Jamie Tabor praised Denise Dawson as ‘honest, utterly decent and brave’ when she identified a man as her alleged attacker and gave evidence against him.

But moments later he halted the trial and ordered a not guilty verdict on Liam Perks, 20.

The judge said Mrs Dawson’s good character and compelling evidence could sway the jury, even though she had had only a fleeting glimpse of her attacker.

He said: ‘Denise Dawson was a particularly impressive witness because she showed courage, clarity of thought and was undoubtedly honest. The jury may lend more weight to her evidence than the facts allow. You cannot be sure she got it right.’

The judge said that her evidence was not enough for a conviction.

Mother-of-two Mrs Dawson, 36, called the decision ‘a kick in the teeth’.

And when the yob comes around to Ms. Dawson’s place for some retribution for testifying, she can count on, well, nothing, as she is not allowed to defend herself in her own home.

For the Children

Let it be proposed that all future four wheel drive demonstration/competition shows be prohibited.

The 6-year-old Puyallup boy who died after being struck in the head by a metal object at a monster-truck show at the Tacoma Dome was a “kid’s kid” who loved trucks and dirt.

Promoters of the truck show say they haven’t determined what caused the metal object to fly into the grandstands Friday night, striking Sebastian’s head.

…..

Sebastian was pronounced dead at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s office reported Saturday. An autopsy will take place today.

Sebastian’s family issued a statement saying the boy suffered severe brain trauma when he was hit by a 7- to-12-pound, Frisbee-sized metal ring from a truck.

The statement said the family “is grief-stricken and angry.”

As well they should be, the Monster Truck lobbyists and their assault trucks should be immediately banned and future events immediately cancelled until proper legislation can be passed that will mandate that half-price children’s seats promotions be outlawed. Without these new regulations, the Big Truck lobby has been able to attract more and more victims over the years, which can lead to an addiction to large wheeled, earth murdering vehicles whose only function is to destroy other vehicles, including school buses.

What kind of message is this vulgar display of horsepower sending to our children.

For years, working people have had to fear for their lives at these events, which people are only able to attend because of the Monster Truck Loophole that exists because of the excessive profits the show promoters are allowed to make.

We must stop this now.

(you may think this is a joke, and my words are. but I’m not making light of this boy’s death. Watch for this and other automotive exhibits/racing/performances to be banned within the next decade under a Democrat executive/legislative power.)

The inauguration hasn’t even taken place as yet and they are already anointing him.
