The Jester Fell Down

And broke his crown.

I hope to write these words again within the next four to eight years, when the left’s soon to be new King’s actions create a situation he is unable to talk his way out of.

111th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. J. RES. 5

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

The inauguration hasn’t even taken place as yet and they are already anointing him.

Lovely.

I didn’t vote for Obama. I cannot ever think of a non-science fiction scenario where I would.

The guy is going to be President starting tomorrow – I hate the idea, given his record and those surrounding him – but it is a fact. I hope that he does well for the country, even while I don’t expect it.

Wishing that he fuck up badly is wishing that he will fail, which isn’t good for the country.

NONETHELESS, he will fail, and fail badly in many cases. He’s Jimmy Carter with darker skin, more charisma and a better marketing team, but he’ll fail at least as badly (there’s less give in the system, both economically and foreign-policy wise). The ONLY joy I’ll get out of that is rubbing the faces of his idiot supporters in his failure, with lots of “I told you so” tossed in for fun.

  2. Didn’t republicans try something like this when GWB was in? I know there was a call for it, although I don’t know if anyone introduced it as an actual bill.

I really get tired of people on either side of the divide who fail to see the wisdom of term limits. It may be a pain to change leaders every 4 – 8 years, but we don’t make the joke about the similarities between politicians and diapers for nothing.

  3. Joe Huffman says:

There is also a proposal to eliminate the 16th amendment. And, although I don’t see it yet, frequently there is a proposal to eliminate the Second Amendment.

Lots of stuff gets introduced without a snowballs chance in hell of getting passed. It’s about having the legislation in place if an opportunity presents itself and being able to say, “We having been trying to get this passed for years.”

I thought the same thing when I read about H.J.Res.5.

Then I found out that Mr. Serrano is on a mission to repeal the 22nd Amendment. See H.J.Res 8 in the 110th Congress.

It did not go anywhere in the 110th and I hope it gets the same consideration in the 111th.

  5. Sulaco2 says:

And to use and extend the current “emergency” to ram though what they want if at all possible. BHO’s AG has said thats the opportunity the current “energency” gives the “government” ie him.

  6. AnejoDave says:

Urkel Lite will ensure this will never pass. After his spectacular political implosion inside of the next 2 years happens nobody is going to want the specter of him as King to even be a bad memory.

  7. Windy Wilson says:

Well, the 22nd amendment was passed by a bunch of politicians who did not want to see a repeat of a 4 term socialist new deal, and it bit them when it prevented a popular president from a third term.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t bite the hands of those who repeal it, too, permitting another president, not the sitting one in the 2008 term, to serve a third term.
