That the Stimupalooza is about to pass.
That means the recession is just about over
It just goes to show that the CBO report that no one in the media wants to talk about is right.
Synopsis: Lying to people in order to scare them has a tendency to make them believe less of what you say.
Experts at Britain’s top climate research centre have launched a blistering attack on scientific colleagues and journalists who exaggerate the effects of global warming.
The Met Office Hadley Centre, one of the most prestigious research facilities in the world, says recent “apocalyptic predictions” about Arctic ice melt and soaring temperatures are as bad as claims that global warming does not exist. Such statements, however well-intentioned, distort the science and could undermine efforts to tackle carbon emissions, it says.
Their “science” is already distorted enough as it is. Screaming “We’re all gonna die!!!1!one1!” over and over at the top of their lungs just makes people ignore them.
So I hope they keep it up.
I’ve already heard that the fires in Australia are because of global warming, when in fact they were arson fueled by the Green’s insistence that not one single dead tree or blade of grass should be cut down.
I’ve also read on the leftosphere that those deadly tornados earlier this week were because of Global Warming.
Gotta love the alarmists just a little bit for that.

Everybody’s read by now the Orlando Sentinel article about Florida’s “bullet” (sic.) shortages. Is that just a Florida problem? Hell, no.
Since our local Wal-Mart stopped carrying ammo (not foo-foo enough for the Bay Area suburbanites) I’ve been deprived of a handy source for cheap bulk ammo, and have generally bought it over the ‘net instead. So when we went to Tulare this past weekend, I was excited because their Wal-Mart, being sufficiently rural, does stock ammunition.
I mentioned as much to the staff at the Tulare range, and got lots of comments like “if they have any.” WTF? Wal-Mart’s never out of stock of anything!
Sure enough, when I stopped by Wal-Mart the next morning, they had only three bulk bricks of Remington .223, and six each of 9mm and .45ACP, plus a smattering of other calibers. Most of what was on the shelf was 20-round boxes, not their bulk fare. And the fellow said what he had on the shelves he’d gotten in yesterday. That’s a pretty pathetic shipment of ammo if that’s all he got. I took 300 rounds each of those three above calibers and counted myself lucky. Total bill $240 for 900 rounds. Ouch!

FerFal found this interesting article, the “United States of Argentina.” Read it so you, too, can spot the parallels!

Joe’s interesting post mentions someone advocating the above. Joe seems skeptical. Well, let me tell you — it’s already happening in the market to a large degree.
I work in the consumer-debt “industry.” One of the areas we’ve avoided to date, but are starting to move into, is the business of consumer debt settlement. You’ve all heard and seen the ads on radio and late-night TV. “We’ll settle your debt for less than 50% of what you owe!” etc., etc.
Well, although debt settlement does work, the vast majority of the companies offering it are purely out to rape the customer. They’re crooks, which is why in the past I’ve kept our group of companies from entering the field — didn’t want to be tainted by the stench.
My biggest objection was that the advertised “40-50%” was all too often a fraudulent teaser rate, and debts actually got settled closer to 70% or even 80% of the balance owed. However, that’s now changed.
We’ve just seen some examples of cash-strapped major banks calling their delinquent credit-card customers out of the blue, begging to settle their balances for 25% or less. Bank of America settled with one of our rivals’ clients for 15% of the balance owed. Fifteen percent! I’ll tell ya what, my jaw dropped.
Consumer credit-card debt used to be packaged, “securitized” and sold as a security on secondary markets, so the credit-card companies themselves got rid of the liability quickly. They can’t do that anymore. So those “assets” are now completely illiquid. What to do? Squeeze the blood out of the turnip.
It’s a new world, folks….
Are in their row. The first move can now be made.
President Obama has asked Seattle Police Chief and Seattle’s biggest hoplophobe with a badge, R. Gil Kerlikowske, to join his administration in the position of #2 Drug Czar.
I predict that any hope the potheads had of PBO legalizing their hobby have been thoroughly dashed.
This also completes the Administrations Royal Flush of anti-firearm civil rights cards. We can now expect them to be able to produce a dozen inside officials for any hearing the Congress decides to hold on why the citizenry should become mere subjects.
Hey, maybe he can use his new office in the federal government to find this service pistol.
There has been little speculation that I have seen as to who will replace him (the position of Police Chief is an appointment). His Deputy, Clark Kimerer, the Assistant Chief, Nick Metz, and former Assistant Chief, Herb Johnson, are all in the running.
I have no doubt that Mayor Greg “Made of Fail” Nickels will interview these men long and hard until he finds out which one of them is the biggest gun bigot, choosing the one who will march in lockstep with him and his opinions on the evilness of privately owned firearms.
Good riddance, Gil.
Yes, I’m in the back of the crowd with my hand in the air, but I’m not waving.
