Gun and Knife Pr0n

…from ExistingThing.

…now I’m going to call it Firebreather. I’m not sure what they did to it back at S&W, but now when I shoot it, 5 inch flames shoot out the forcing cone at 10 and 2 o’clock. It’s pretty fucking awesome.

I sure do love me some Centennials. More at this link. Much, much more.

Apologies

…for not posting, as promised, the update on our seven-day food packs for the cars, and posts on other survival gear. They’re still in the works, but over the weekend I remembered that a month ago we got hit with an unexpected (because it’s completely bogus) labor commission claim for which I must drive 90 minutes to Sacramento tomorrow morning for an 8:30 hearing.

The employee making the claim was never our employee, that’s the really annoying part. She worked for a company licensed to sell some of our products. It’s as though a Wal-Mart employee sued Wal-Mart for back wages and threw, oh, I don’t know, Budweiser into the suit as well, just because she rang up a six-pack for a customer once. Gah!

I should be able to get my company thrown out of the case real damn quick, but this is obviously completely bogus in more ways than one.

(Of course, it helps when you remember about these things in a more timely fashion than the weekend before the hearing, but that’s another matter.)

New Aquisition

As I’ve documented here previously, whether for good or for ill, I’m “The Gunny” at my place of employ, and the questions have been getting more frequent over the last six months.

One of my coworkers in particular has been jones’n’ for a 1911 for a while now and multiple questions per week were being answered by me for him. I’m happy to report that the gentleman has finally taken delivery of his Springfield Armory 1911-a1 GI.

However, in order to cover the cost of this pistol, he was needing to sell to .45 he already owned. Being the helpful fellow that I am, I purchased it from him.

Coming to a Representative Republic Near You?

We have the Obamessiah Administration giving away the country to all of his special interest groups while talking very kindly to any dictatorship who thinks they can use his words for propaganda purposes.

How long before he and his minions internalizes this?

Another anti-Semitic incident took place in a Canadian university Thursday when over 100 anti-Israel activists surrounded a campus building belonging to the Jewish student club ‘Hillel’ at York University, Toronto. The activists pounded on office doors while yelling out racial slurs

Campus security was forced to alert police to restore order and the latter demanded that the offices be shut down.

When your very existence pisses a separate and irrational group off to the point of violence, instead of doing the hard work of punishing the violent and irrational group, the government steps in and decides that you shouldn’t exist. Meanwhile, anyone who speaks out about the irrational group’s actions is censored and fined for watching from the fence.

Good for the Goose

Good for the Gander

Looking back, Patrick Rosario realizes it probably wasn’t the wisest thing to do.

Still, as it turned out, the burglars who tried to loot his Bellevue home got a surprise of their own as they began their escape: Rosario had made off with their getaway car.

As he puts it: “The good guys win for once.”

…..
He already was dialing 911 as he hurried back down the stairs in soft, flat-soled Pumas, grabbing a hammer in case he was detected. He ran out the back door toward the front of the house.

The 911 dispatcher was on the phone as Rosario peeked around the corner, hiding behind a garbage can. That’s when he noticed the exhaust sputtering out of the white Ford Windstar van parked out front.

Seeing no one, he quickly approached. The keys in the ignition, the humming engine, the unlocked driver’s door: It was all too perfect.

Against the 911 dispatcher’s advice, Rosario announced he was going to take it. What jury in the world was going to convict him, he thought?

He drove up a steep hill away from the house, figuring whoever was ransacking his home wouldn’t be able to keep up on foot. He stopped a few blocks away in front of a friend’s house and waited for police.

In my world, when life gives you burglars, you make corpses.

Not everyone lives in my world. This one still makes me slightly warm and fuzzy though.

Now THAT is advertising!

Bear Mountain Sports goes for overkill

Not that that is entirely a bad thing.

On a somewhat related side note (some of you may have heard this story before), the last time David and I set out for Boomershoot, The Wife saw us packing up the truck with the rifles, pistols and ammo and remarked that if we were to run into a serial killer at a rest stop that it would be the shortest horror movie ever.

Better too much firepower than too little.

Death by Annie Hall

So it’s our Daughter’s birthday today (all together now, say awwwww!) She’s 26, and she’s decided for her special day she wants to meet for lunch at her favorite San Francisco restaurant, Cha-Cha-Cha. Cuban- and Jamaican-inspired tapas, mmmm. And ohhh yes, the sangria!

Unfortunately, afterward she’s decided that since it’s likely to rain we should take in a movie. Not just any movie — a Woody Allen movie (shudder).

My wife’s never seen a Woody Allen movie. I know she’s going to hate it. Guaranteed, within five minutes she’s going to be glaring at me and muttering “is the whole thing like this?”
To offset the brain-numbing exposure to neurosis and incompetence personified, I’m at least doing something competent this weekend: I’m going to replenish our vehicles’ seven-day food packs at Trader Joe’s. My wife’s developed a taste for their prepackaged bowls of Thai noodle soup. I had previously stored seven days’ worth of cheap Costco Ramen noodles and Cup-O-Noodles, of which she’s not so fond. Gotta store food your loved ones will actually eat!

I’ll have more on our vehicle survival packs in a bit.  Each car has glovebox contents (here and here), two “Grab-and-Go” kit bags hanging behind the front seats with survival gear and three days’ worth of food (I’ll detail them tomorrow), a seven-day food pack (below) and some other goodies I’ll get to later.

Below is a list of what was in the food packs for most of last year. I’m making some changes and additions. The bleach, a poor man’s water-purification kit, was a bad idea. Hint: bleach fumes corrode things.
