Just a little tidbit that I’ve discovered puts leftists in a frenzy when discussing the Sotomayor appointment:

If they start whipping out the racist/sexist card on you (which is the only real card they have going for them) ask them if they know who Janice Rogers Brown is.

They will, much more often than not, have to say that they don’t. Inform them that JRB fits all the criteria of Sotomayor, except for the ignorant legal ideals, and that you’d gladly support her for the position.

A Deviation

From the “All Sotomayor. All the Time” that has become the blogosphere: Some good news.

Much attention has been paid to the Democratic political juggernaut, and to the weaknesses of the GOP in general and the RNC in particular.

You wouldn’t know it from their respective April fundraising numbers: The RNC outraised the DNC by $1.3 million.

The RNC raised $5.4 million in contributions April, giving the committee $24.4 million on hand.

The DNC, in the same month, raised $.4.4 million, leaving it with $9.1 million on hand.

And with the judiciary fight coming up, the R’s are looking to increase their fundraising to levels not seen for some few years.

And since I couldn’t even keep away from the Sotomayorical discussion, let me just point out that not only is she reaching Biden territory with her verbal gaffes that need endless explanation, but her views on the topic of firearms and self-defense are to the left of the VPC.

Yeah I’m a sucker for a hook

Been utterly swamped at work, and still unpacking from Boomershoot (and I managed to cut off the tip of my right index finger for the second time in a decade this past weekend) so as you may have noticed I’ve been absent from posting. Not anymore! Boomershoot Pics of the Day resuming tomorrow!

Two weekends ago the wife and I went to see the new Star Trek movie, and it’s excellent. But the trailer for the new Transformers showed up and the above hook has been stuck in my head ever since. Now I give it to you.

Oddly, the first time I heard the below song I thought it was probably made for that very same Star Trek movie — as one of those “Soundtrack featuring the new hit single by __________” deals. Nope, the movie had none of those, thank God. But if they’d had to put one in, I think this mix of “Infinity” would have worked just fine. Start it at about :25 and imagine those soaring horns and driving echoes backed by images of stars, starships and intrepid captains. Works for me!
