I am, sadly, known for screwing up conversations with strangers by my rather literal way of speaking.

It appears as though I’m regressing because I weirded out The Wife during our discussion this week on the Prop 8 decision.

I have two, seemingly opposite, opinions on the subject of gay marriage:

#1. I don’t care because the government has no right to be involved in living arrangement agreements between private individuals.

And because that is a fantasy that will never happen, I need to keep a more realistic one for general distribution.

#2. Marriage is not a right, and even if it was there is no portion of said non-right that I have because of my breeder status that a gay individual has not. Therefore, unless some sort of civil union/marriage laws are passed by either the voters or their representatives in state government, gay marriage should not be allowed. No Executive or Judicial fiats allowed. This is not “I have a dream” territory.

After getting her to understand my two opinions and the reasons as to why I need them both, I got down to both the nitty and the gritty which, for a few moments, made my life shitty.

I listed the reason behind the ugliness of fiats. I then listed out a half-dozen or so other groups that governments deny “marriage licenses” to.

But since she was taught debate by the public school system and the University of Montana, which instructs that at any time, if someone uses a word which has a pejorative option, that you should immediately hop on the “I’m Offended” wagon and giddyup.

I listed gay relationships among incest and bestiality as a “deviant” relationships the government denies licenses to. She immediately processed it to mean I find gay relationships sinister and I had to remind her that there is a non-judgemental definition of the word (aka: deviating from “the norm”) and that that was the definition I was using.

Yes, I could have chosen a better word. Yes, I need to remember that even after 13 plus years of knowing me she still doesn’t understand the way I use language when I don’t have to write it out.

Still, I think someone needs to desensitize.

This might do it.

Yes, this is why I don’t do internet radio and/or video blogging. I can cause a shitstorm in under 10 seconds flat.

OK, so I’m only a terrorist in their deformed little minds, but if they wanted to give me a reason to become one, this’d be a good start.

Currently before the House Judiciary Committee, “The Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009 would authorize Attorney General Eric Holder to deny the sale or transfer of firearms to known or suspected terrorists—a list that could extend beyond groups such as radical Islamists and other groups connected to international terror organizations,” Fox News reported.

Who could argue about denying arms to terrorist? No one. Yet, with this bill, the devil’s in the details.

“Critics say the names of suspected terrorists could be drawn from existing government watch lists that cover such broad categories as animal rights extremists, Christian identity extremists, black separatists, anti-abortion extremists, anti-immigration extremists and anti-technology extremists.”

In effect, any group or people who someone might want to label as “extremist” or “anti.”

“It doesn’t say anything about trials and due process,” Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, told Fox News. “This is one of the most outrageous pieces of legislation to come along in some time. It’s basically saying, ‘I suspect you, so your rights are toast.’”

Because due process is a gift in the Obamanation.

And it is not yet Christmas.

When Dave told me he’d met Ernie, it was not only one of those unreal “It’s a small world” moments, but brought some joy to my heart as always happens when cool people I know from one aspect of my life meet cool people from another aspect. Ernie’s done some amazing things. Last I recall he was trying for a 1-mile prairie dog with a handgun. I’ll see if I can cobble together an “Ernie Bishop” post.

Oh, yeah, that’s one freakin’ awesome benchrest, too.

Liberal tolerance on public display = The 1st and 2nd Amendments banned from public display.

A student who wants to form a gun-rights group at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) has been threatened with disciplinary action for her efforts. Student Christine Brashier has turned to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) for help after reporting that administrators banned her informational pamphlets, ordered her to destroy all copies of them, and told her that further “academic misconduct” would not be tolerated.

“CCAC has demonstrated a shocking lack of respect for the rights of free speech and free association,” FIRE President Greg Lukianoff said. “Across the country, students are increasingly denied the First Amendment right to debate the Second Amendment. At CCAC, this censorship trend has reached a new low.”

In April, CCAC student Christine Brashier created pamphlets to distribute to her classmates encouraging them to join her in forming a chapter of the national Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC) organization at CCAC. The handbill states that the group “supports the legalization of concealed carry by licensed individuals on college campuses.” She personally distributed copies of the flyer, which identified her as a “Campus Leader” of the effort to start the chapter.

On April 24, Jean Snider, Student Development Specialist at CCAC’s Allegheny Campus, summoned Brashier to a meeting that day with Snider and Yvonne Burns, Dean of Student Development. According to Brashier, the deans told Brashier that passing out her non-commercial pamphlets was prohibited as “solicitation.” They told Brashier that trying to “sell” other students on the idea of the organization was prohibited.

CCAC also told Brashier that the college must pre-approve any distribution of literature to fellow students, and that pamphlets like hers would not be approved, even insisting that Brashier destroy all copies of her pamphlet.

Brashier reports that she was also interrogated about why she was distributing the pamphlets, whether she owned a licensed firearm and had ever brought it to campus (she has not), whether she carries a concealed firearm off campus, and whether she disagrees with the existing college policy banning concealed weapons on campus.

When Brashier stated that she wanted to be able to discuss this policy freely on campus, she was told to stop doing so without the permission of the CCAC administration. Dean Burns reportedly said, “You may want to discuss this topic but the college does not, and you cannot make us.”

Wow! Those deans sure have some impressive communications skills!

I’ve never seen someone take so many words to say STFU and GTFO.

News Fiction

Uncle informs that Penn and Teller cannot do their “firearm based illusions” in the state of New Jersey because of NJ’s ignorant firearms laws.

Which means that this news story must be made of make-believe

A patron accused of gunning down an employee inside Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort is due in court Thursday.

Mark Magee is charged with murder and weapons offenses. He is accused of shooting Ray Kot, a shift manager who had been with the casino since it opened in 1990.

Trump Entertainment Resorts CEO Mark Juliano says Kot was shot three to four times in a nonpublic office just off the casino floor Wednesday. The Egg Harbor Township resident died a few hours later.

The 57-year-old Magee is from Norristown, Pa., and apparently knew Kot.

Must have been a coin that was ricocheting out of a slot machine. I expect that the accused will be exonerated in short order.
