The time for pitchforks has passed

It’s a good they they had pitchfork registration (followed shortly thereafter by a swift period of confiscation), otherwise there’d be some folks with lots of holes in them because of this news.

The National Health Service has spent £1.5m paying for hundreds of its staff to have private health treatment so they can leapfrog their own waiting lists.

More than 3,000 staff, including doctors and nurses, have gone private at the taxpayers’ expense in the past three years because the queues at the clinics and hospitals where they work are too long.

Figures released under the Freedom of Information act show that NHS administrative staff, paramedics and ambulance drivers have also been given free private healthcare. This has covered physiotherapy, osteopathy, psychiatric care and counselling — all widely available on the NHS.

“It simply isn’t fair to have one service for staff and another for everyone else,” said Norman Lamb, the Liberal Democrat health spokesman, who obtained the figures.

“If the NHS has to circumvent their own waiting lists the system isn’t working well enough. It’s an admission by the NHS that their own system isn’t able to respond to the mass of people desperate to get back to work.”

Yes, Mr. Lamb. It is.

OK. Maybe not.

I’m not so sure that this actually upholds the Global Warming Death Cult’s premise.

Earth scientists have a very good understanding of how carbon-dioxide levels have varied in the atmosphere over the last 800,000 years, but there has been little agreement on the levels before then. A study led by Aradhna Tripati, a visiting researcher in geochemistry at Caltech, has now supplied a missing piece of the puzzle, showing that at least 15 million years have passed since CO2 levels were as high as they are today.

“The last time carbon dioxide levels were apparently as high as they are today and were sustained at those levels, global temperatures were five to 10 degrees Fahrenheit higher than they are today, sea level was approximately 75 to 120 feet higher than today, and there was no permanent sea ice cap in the Arctic and very little ice on Antarctica and Greenland,” says Tripati, whose team included Caltech postdoc Robert Eagle.

So, wouldn’t that mean that since we have the same amount of CO2 in the atmosphere as we did when the sea levels were “75 to 120 feet higher”, that CO2 levels aren’t the harbinger the cult has been saying they are and that there must be something else, if not in even just in combination with CO2, that they haven’t factored in?

Read Your Ballot!

For those of you in King County who are being forced to vote by mail, READ YOUR BALLOT!

See there at the bottom of the left hand column. Below all the instructions.

That is where you vote for I-1033. They didn’t leave it off the ballot, they just stuffed it below the “Example” box so that you don’t notice it if you’re not looking for it.

While I’m not an actual resident of King County, I am perched within sight of their territory and my phone number is prefixed to King County. This was confirmed for me when I got a call from the League of Urban Voters telling me of the placement of said Initiative on the ballot.

They, of course, want me to vote against it. Which is, of course, a reason to vote for it.

Angry over false advertizing

I’ve been let down by “falsies” before, but this is being extreme about it.

A hardline Islamist group in Somalia has begun publicly whipping women for wearing bras that they claim violate Islam as they are ‘deceptive’.

The insurgent group Al Shabaab has sent gunmen into the streets of Mogadishu to round up any women who appear to have a firm bust, residents claimed yesterday.

The women are then inspected to see if the firmness is natural, or if it is the result of wearing a bra.

If they are found wearing a bra, they are ordered to remove it and shake their breasts, residents said.

A decade or so ago I thought that dressing in Arab gear and going around telling folks I was Sheik Yarbootee for Halloween and handing out spankings was funny.

Not only are these guys getting the anatomy wrong, they’re handing out real punishments. Talk about ruining a good time.

We need our military scientists to discover a way to make an AK fire only when a woman is holding it and then airdrop a few million of them into that hole.
